Is it you? It's me? Love it, although from an existential standpoint could he have answered any differently......?

In a way that's what I was referring to above, because a lot of slebs are easily recognisable because they're acting like slebs. Lovely when they don't as you suggest (although given the media these days if I was famous I'd probably never leave the house) 👍

Boss Waza Air now available for bass. Personal Amp System.
Beedster replied to dave_bass5's topic in Amps and Cabs
Mine arrived earlier this week, very cheap and very fast from Scan. Best bass accessory I've tried, blows the PJB gear out of the water on functionality, usability and - surprisingly to me - on core tone (although let's face it the PJB headphones let the side down awfully). Strolling around the garden playing bass to myself, living the dream! Why no-one did this years ago is beyond me, thanks for the recommendations folks 👍 -
So following the stocktake I have done some experimentation The rosewood neck on the blue Precision (second top) works best on the natural Enfield The ebony Jazz neck on the natural Precision (top) works best on the 3TSB Enfield The Status neck works best on the Blue Precision, in fact surprisingly well The maple fretless neck works best on the natural Precision The rest all work very well as they are. Neck body combinations are like rhythm sections, more about magical chemistry than objective quality 👍

Love it. I was at a gig in Barbados and realised I was standing next to a rather well know singer. She was loving the band and getting really into dancing and cheering, and the look on the singer's face - he can't have been much more than 18 - when he realised who she was was priceless. I love it when celebs act like they're not celebs 👍

EUB flight case - can anyone lend/rent?
Beedster replied to BassInMyFace's topic in EUB and Double Bass
Apologies if this doesn't help much @BassInMyFace but perhaps check out sports gear cases on eBay, I bought - IIRC - a hard case for golf clubs for my old Yammie SLB 200 a few years back at about 10% of the cost of a similar case from a music gear supplier. Also there are a few drum/mic-stand cases that will also do the job that can also be picked up at low cost used. Sorry to hear about your gear, just bumped into my neighbour who had all his professional GPS gear (a lot of it) stolen from his property last night, like you it's not just the insult of the theft itself, it's the threat to livelihood as well -

A good setup and perhaps some lighter strings might help? I find HMWYRS a whole lot easier to play on a bass that I've set up to my preference, irrespective of the quality of the bass itself 👍

Nicely put @BigRedX 👍

This is the truth of it, I’ve spent a lot of money on a lot of gear most of which I don’t need, but If I had to sell the lot tomorrow I’d get all that money back, there or thereabouts 👍

It's not a hobby or even a way of life, it's so much more, it's a calling. On reflection - and given that from the age of about 5-years i could always hum the bass part of songs to which i could remember neither the words or the melody - I was called to play bass, and I still feel better after an hour playing bass than I do after an hour of just about anything else (especially my new Enfield many thanks @Shaggy) 👍

Bassist assaulted mid-gig by singer in Manchester

Hi @Whomesee, thanks for the message. I got it working eventually, but 6-hours to get software and hardware made for each other by the same manufacturer is a little frustrating (and I get the impression it might have taken longer had I reached out to Softube support). And you're right, it's good gear, allows me to mix and edit like them old days - I'd long forgotten just how hard work using a mouse can be - and it's been trouble-free since. Now if Softube could get it, and the fader, to talk properly to Pro Tools I'd be very happy, but having said that I'm so impressed by the hardware that I'm considering switching to one of the DAWs that work fully with Softube, there's partial integration with Luna that I'm going to explore soon as I work within the UAD universe so to speak. Cheers. Chris 👍

I used to play guitar five strings only without the top E, found I preferred the chord shapes and tuning, got used to it and found it very hard tp go back to six -

Great technique, awful tone 😕 -
This is reflected in the comment above re Rainey’s playing being so out of time, perhaps posted by someone who records multitrack in the digital domain, who is used to being able to line individual tracks up in time, and who believes that’s what good timing sounds like. More often than not it’ll simply sound sterile. I wish I knew what is the perfect algorithm for bass and drum timing, but I know that precise synchrony is hugely overrated 👍
