  1. I'm about to start work converting a 7mx6m garage into a live room (albeit one that will also have to double as a dance studio for my daughters)! I've just stripped out the old wall and ceiling panels and I have a room that looks a lot like this, wooden walls, concrete floor, high ceiling. The challenge is to keep the interior of the room sufficiently lively while not allowing too much of the world outside to get in and not allowing too much of what's going on inside to get out. It's pretty easy to disappear down a hell of a rabbit hole as soon as you start Googling 'soundproofing material' or 'acoustic treatment, so I'm looking for a solution that will do the above relatively cheaply, and if it also helps keep some heat in during winter, all the better. Any thoughts/experience most welcome 👍
  2. If I had a grand I could spare I’d buy this…. Hang on, I did
  3. Enjoying playing music is one thing. They clearly recorded it to get some attention so job done 👍
  4. @skankdelvarposted a genius explanation of the motivation for this type of band a while back, wish I could find it. Either way, I found the whole thing a pretentious and overly self-conscious affair; too many musicians, too much technique, too little of value to do with that technique 😕
  5. As others have said, replace the whole set, it'll be more economic in the long-term, and even if they are old an used, you'll have spare G, D, and A which are more likely to break than the E anyway. i may have missed something above but I'd also check why the E-broke, for example was it twisted, is your bridge correctly setup, was something coming into contact with it? Breaking an E-string once is a PITA, breaking one twice because you didn't resolve the problem the first time around is a significant step up in casualness
  6. I did that with a mandolin once, but with a DB.........
  7. Huge thank you to Steve for sending me, entirely free of charge, a lovely (and substantial) Mesa Boogie footswitch for my M-Pulse 600. These things are bloody hard to come by these days and would cost a fair few pennies if they could be found, so it's a bloody decent gesture and I'm chuffed! Steve, hope i can repay the favour one day mate 👍
  8. Thanks @Steve Browning. The cab is pretty impressive, as is the head. A perfect combo with the possible exception of the 50kgs weight tag. If finances were different I'd keep it but I'm trying to convert an old building into a rehearsal space and the cost of materials is pretty much double what they'd have been a couple of years back, plus I've had to strip out all the electrics and start again, plus the roof's leaking! So, given that I also have the below rig that despite being rather dated and rather heavy, will still cause most people in the room to recognise that the bassist is in charge, the Carbine is on its way
  9. I was working with a guy trying to get this to Slovenia but it looked prohibitive in terms of courier costs and import duties. However one option that emerged was to remove the head and send head and cab seperately, or simply to split the two and sell separately So, in summary I can now post this, although I think UK only I'm happy to sell the head (standard 19" rack-mount) and can separately, £700 for the head and £300 for the cab. Having said the above, I'm tempted to install my M-Pulse 600 in the cab and see how massive that sounds; I used to own the Venture combo and I imagine this would be pretty similar.
  10. Mmmmm, I'm very tempted Nik, have to check the work/kids thing but it would be great to see you and what looks like a great band 👍
  11. But I finally got the Eurosender website to work and a competitive quote 🤔
  12. I get this or similar with every courier when I enter 30kg package UK-Slovenia (and yes, I know it's significantly more than 30kgs)
  13. I was reminded of the pain the last time I tried to use them when I tried again today, and gave up, their website doesn't make things easy
  14. Eurosender website not letting me past send address so I'm guessing they don't go there
  15. Thanks @Hellzero, I'll take a look at Eurosender now 👍
  16. Hi folks, anyone done the above, the usual UK couriers as showing 'No Services Available'. A BC'er there would like to buy my Mesa Carbine combo but I suspect it's going to prove problematic? Thanks. Chris
  17. But all joking aside sound, or at least ultrasound, is used in medical applications e.g., tendinitis, kidney stone, cataracts, so who knows...........
