2. The 4/5 times i've played a 5 or 6 string I've never really used the B, only as a thumb rest or instead of drop Eb/D tuning.
3.
The best most comfortable 5 ive ever played was a Sting Ray 5, comfort, punchy tone..effortless... .. going from 4 to 5 was fairly easy. going to 6 was a little more time consuming.. i always found a wide neck more difficult.. my ultimate 5 string would have a very narrow, jazz like neck, with 18/19 string spacing at the bridge..
Your next for a Marleaux then!
4. Crazy to want to trade! I saw jethro tull's new bass player playing a six string fodera for Bouree lol
5. I thought I did but close up, maybe not! Its a shame the finishes are so limited.
6. Yep far far to expensive for the quality. You'd think that this would be the natural progression for Fender but once people buy a P they want a J to go with so why combine best of both worlds? When they do they rinse ya!! £2600!! G&L already do what this does but they ain't as pretty and not all have jazz necks. I'm so glad the they brought out the HMV bridge, who would opt for badass engraved on their instrument?? apart from a teenager.
7.
obsessing over minute tonal variations which will be lost in the mix? No ta! I'd rather stick to a single split coil pickup and hold down the low end. But that's just me.
Got to agree with Jean on this one, the idea is lovely and great fun for the bedroom player. I used to obsess about tone until everyone I knew couldn't tell the difference between 5 of my basses unless they played as well. Now I just worry about build/playability and if it cuts through
8. Argh!! I wish people would stop putting Overwater's up, i'm trying to focus on guitars!
9. Love any candy apple red. I'm liking the jackson, very hair metal just needs a graphic on the pink/fiesta red for me
10. Who is that?? Always wanted a Meidl Warwick
11. PENDING PART EXCHANGE
12.
As Lemmy and Rickenbacker go hand in hand....why a Fender?..........he would have been as well signing the drum kit.....or...roll up roll up......come and get your overpriced kazoos signed by Mr Kazoo himself....Lemmy!
13. Back up at £1200 + P&P. I'm adamant to get this back so part exchange options have to reach this (at least ) . It is a very low chance you'll get me on a trade as I like the vintage settings I get on the Marleaux. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGzcZHrixrk Here's a chap playing a fretted version, the guy with the camera looks away when he hits the B string half way through to look at the guitars but he comes back. You can hear its an ultra defined 34" B though. Soundclip of it fretless up top. 7.7lbs of sheer flawless quality!
14. Really really nice finish!
15.
My headless ACG Harlot is certainly rare as it's the only one like it.
Like it! I love unusual basses, totally skipped buying or owning a fender style bass because they didn't stand out enough for me. However, I wouldn't have had so much trouble selling up if I had taken the popular route, selling my Kubicki was a mission and a half - wouldn't mind owning an another though. I'll never learn.
16.
This one, and its now mine, mwhahaha
Nice buy Clarky!
17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8ayLvWRUqI...feature=related The Vincent Maurogiova Signature by Wood and Tronics, my favourite bass to date. Sorry, I couldn't find a picture of one although there was a chap selling one on here not too long ago.
18. I like have an active/passive switch. Long practice sessions I like passive and gigs I like active.
19. Some more interesting offers on this Ricky-esque Marleaux, still no one taking it home though...
20. They are incredibly to look at and I bet they play great too! If I were Mugabe I'd be using that charity aid money to stand one up next to my gold plated Royce.
21. Wow...what a boring colour.
22. Wow! High end bass indeed!
23. Actually now you mention primus must have one somewhere lol nevermind!
24. Is there such a thing as a good slapped fretless bass recording??? Ooooo
25. I had a German Hoyer EB3, if you could find use of the two woofier settings it was flawless.
