1. I prefer fours but I can't deny when its drop d tuning and I can rest my thumb on a 5th string, its a pretty damn good feeling! 34" scales only though
2. Best finish IMO
3.
I owned this for a while and can confirm it really is an amazing intrument. I always liked the 'Egyptian eye' in the grain at the top of the body too Good luck with the sale, whoever gets this won't be diappointed Graham
Thanks for the post Graham, its got a lovely vintage jazz punch to it. Sadly its getting more difficult to find a decent high end fretless on BC there was a lovely Sadowsky metro a while back I was hunting for until this. I really like the markings on the lower horn - the facings a beaut but i've never heard of Pearwood before!!
4. Always wanted one in that finish with a rosewood board
5.
Ok ive had a couple of festive bevvies, but oli, if you fancy a straight swap with my 78 jazz id be up for it. As i have said to you before, i will always take the jazz back if things dont work out. Merry christmas
Merry Christmas to you too Chris! Its a brilliant offer, but for medical reasons I can only play basses 9lbs or under and this is a gem for that. I'm not really keen on trades as I need the money and I don't think anything could top the Marleaux - I'd consider big part exchanges for modern Musicman/Fender/Squier gear however. Thanks again though
6. My Last Bass. I part-exchanged up for this recently with my Genz Benz Rig to play and also, so I could post it should I be in financial trouble and I am, so... Here's an Excellent Condition Marleaux Consat Custom Fretless 5. I played one of these against the Overwaters at Penrith Guitar Fayre a couple of years back and they've always stuck in my mind: Made in 2007 No.995 Milk Chocolate Pearwood Facing Sutkina Body Five Piece, Maple/Ebony Six Bolt Neck Lined Ebony Slab Fingerboard with Zero Fret 34" Scale 45mm Nut 18.5mm String Spacing over a flattened 'C' neck profile 7.7lbs/3.5kg Weight Schaller Manchineheads Marleaux custom bridge Bartolini Soapboar Pickups Custom Glockenlang Marleaux 3 Band Preamp Active/Passive Bypass Switch Professional Setup with Elixir 40-125 Gauge Strings High Quality Roktek Warwick Rockbag Pics: http://s1031.photobucket.com/albums/y373/S...e/Music%20Gear/ Soundclips: http://www.marleaux-bass.de/marleaux_soundsample.html Plays anything and most importantly nails Jaco. Its also possible to get that precision tone with cuts out the nasally 'mwah' which gets tiresome when playing root notes. Slaps nice n crisp too with the ebony board. An easy stretch for someone with small hands like myself, ultra defined B string as to be expected from something of this custom quality - £2600 NEW IN THE UK!! Zero Fret too, so theres no unwanted rattling and vibrations from the strings against the wood near the nut - had problems with this on other fretless' i've owned. Flawless. 7. Love the side shot of the back!
8. I'll never get over how good those Tronic VM's looks. Saw one last year, still the best looking bass around for me.
9. Kubicki, best slap bass - check Vail Johnson
10. The only thing about this bass you could possibly fault is the marmite finish. I'm not a graphite colour fan but I know this is a very good deal and would easily beat a fender (even though I love them). I like the colour in the Avatar however, looks awesome under the lights!
11.
Hi,Are you looking for a guitar or amp,i have loads of gear here i need to clear. Cheers Harv
PM'd
12. I like dingwalls, just bugs me they couldn't make a pickup with was diagonal and in line with the bridge (if you know what i mean). Really wanna try one.
13. I want this bass, only trade fodder though.
14. I'd like to see the blue version too! If you have the pink that'd be a full set I'd add shineys but thats just because I look at my basses more than I play them at Uni . Do love an instrument that splits everyone down the middle
15. I'll consider Jazzes too, so I don't leave anyone out. Passive only.
16.
MB1. TIM!!(Artist formerly known as BUMP!)
Thanks for the 'TIM' Martin, still in the dark but works all the same!
17. Up for sale in AS NEW mint A1 condition: Genz Benz 750 Head inside lightweight Proel rack case + solid 5 button footswitch and cables. All bedroom use only. It has an output limiter so you can use it for practice (preferred it over my Roland Cube30) and it steps up to the big gigs of course. Really difficult to find 2nd hand - if you buy it, you will keep it and it'll make your other bass amps redundant like mine. American made, I think theres only two dealers in the UK that sell this model. Hitting over £1k when new (with trimmings), this amp has a fantastic tight FET channel which is killer for funk and slap, especially when scooping the eq via pedal. I myself enjoy the classic old skool valve channel on a mid-boost setting for the fingerstyle stuff I play. You can also mix both channels for clarity and grunt (this is particularly good for a jazz bass this setting!). I bought this amp for its lightweight and versatility but my change in musical direction towards guitar has forced my hand to move it along. A real gem though, it will be missed...if I don't decide to keep it! 675w of beastly tone through a 4ohm cab, anything from Jazz to Metal without a stutter. Easily transportable, even with a bad back. REASON FOR SELLING: I'm switching to electric guitar, thats all. 18. I'm kind of in agreement with charic in terms of what to use on it but thomastik infeld flatwounds come into the equation. Whats the cheapest decent precision which uses alder I probably won't notice through the cube as I would the Genz Benz anyway but I'm always sceptical when the brand doesn't state the body wood. I'm not a fan of signature basses unfortunately.
19. I've just sold my final and best bass to date - a '56 Fender Precision Custom Bravewood Replica. I did it because I really wanted to switch to guitar and sell my Genz Benz to afford driving lessons. I do however still own a roland bass cube30 and boss Dr880 drum machine so i'm ready to get back into whenever I feel like it. If I said I wanted to spend £600 maximum on my return on a Precision bass, what would you say was the best value in this region - doesn't have to use the full budget. In a nutshell whats the best Precision bass under £600, there must be millions of threads on this somewhere Grateful for all advice! Cheers Oli
20. Prettiest girl to date . I don't really look at the side dots i kinda curl up when i'm playing to look at the front still lol. Back n sides of the bass are so unexciting unless you own a shuker or something.
