1. Hey Guys, thanks for the comments. Photos posted to the GB porn thread . The Goodfellow is a flawless bass, built like a tank and amazing for the fingerstyle I play! Haven't tried slap much, I think it would need some heavier strings I have light rotosounds on it now. Does anybody know what other basses use Kent Armstrong pickups?? Does Bernie use them still or are the new electonics custom made for him alone?
2. Something of Bernies!: Original pre-GB 1985 Goodfellow Classic Custom, serial no. 0030. Genius.
3. Hi Basschatters! Just wanted to see what you think of my collection so far! First up is my ESP PC-2V Semi-Acoustic Guitar. Incredible Jazz/Blues sound from a couple of JB Seymour Duncan Pickups. The reason I got it was because it was a compromise of Johnny. A and Robbenford meets George Benson and Ted Nugent. I mainly use it for rock music through a Marshall MG15 cdr. Best guitar I've played and will probably never sell, its the closest thing I've seen to a Gibson for £700, now £850. Set neck Mahogany body and rosewood fingerboard with abalone binding. Abalone and mother of pearl block inlays, gold hardware (grover tuners) and a licensed Bigsby tremolo bar. Three piece maple neck and flamed maple top in tobacco sunburst - Just need to change the pickups and its VERY close to a gibson. Plays very well for those with small hands, Great neck! Second is my limited edition, USA Californian Charvel Star Bass, distributed this time by Fender instead of Jackson with molded hardshell case (Very niiice). I bought this because of it being my favourite 80s Glam Rock guitar (Eddie Van Halen, Chris Holmes of WASP, Scorpions etc) although I have not yet touched it because I plan to turn it into a project; Eddie Van Halen meets Billy Sheehan. A relation of mine has agreed to do the Frankenstein paint job over the body only (still want the brand logo) and I will then add a drop D tuner and two Precision pickups, i'm thinking the Dimarzio Willpowers but will appreciate suggestions and advice . Lovely alder body and hard rock eastern maple neck and rosewood fingerboard (no laquer!) so its nice and fast. Badass II bridge and Gotoh black hardware. The Pickups are the only thing I don't agree with: seymour Duncan hotrods, just standard sound nothing special at all, cant stand seymour duncan basslines. I traded this bass with 'the Beat' and would do so again in the future! My most recent bass, 1994 Californian Kubicki Key Factor, serial no.11 and used in Guitar Magazine as the review model for this series, a copy of which I own. I think its had two owners prior to me, who have kept it in fantastic condition (Mr Molan and Vmaxblues) Not gonna lie, never seen one of these before in my life, however I know of the Ex Factor model and it produces the exact same sound, INCREDIBLE SLAP TONE!!! (Vail Johson/Stu Hamm) Unfortunately i'm not really a slap style player, but I can learn . The bass has an alder body with a sunburst finish and a 34" hard rock eastern maple neck with a 24 fret rosewood fretboard, black schaller/kubicki custom hardware (sturdy bridge!) and some interesting electronics which I haven't figured out! Theres a six way switch which provides 1.mute/ no feedback, like an off switch 2. Active Jazz bass tone, with growl! 3. Active precision tone, very punchy 4. Fender-esque Jazz passive tone 5. pass precision tone 6. Flat Bass tone. I traded this bass with 'Vmaxblues' and the Protec case with 'Jay the music guy' - Both great people to deal with! Saving the best till last! My 1985 Goodfellow Classic Custom, Serial no. 0030 and checked with Bernie Goodfellow to be an original. Looks like what the GB Rumour model was based on. The bass has a quilted maple top and spalted/quilted maple back, with a slab of walnut in between bound by mahogany. The neck is 34" five piece mahogany/maple with a 21 frets ebony fingerboard, bound again by mahogany which carries on to cover the headstock. The bass has custom Goodfellow Gold hardware with his surname engraved into the bridge and 'classic' upon the truss rod cover. The bass has 'g' engraved into the machineheads and has messacre ebony tuning pegs. The headstock bears the 'G' symbol and has 'made in England' underneath. The pickups are kent armstrong custom wound with wooden ebony covers boasting a thumb groove for easy playing. 5 rotary knobs : Volume, bass, mid, treb and pickups balancer. Active bass requiring two batteries for its silly amount of power (i only use it up halfway tops) and ability to switch to passive. Can play anything. Recently setup by Cardiff Guitars: relubricated, electronics cleaned, action set low with no bend in the neck etc. Gator ABS case purchased from 'Bassbunny' very nice chap too . Most comfortable bass I've ever played. Genius. Got the look, sound and playability. I bought this from a guy playing in a pub, just walked up and made him an offer. Now for my Rig: Ashdown Superfly with 2x10 inch speaker cabinet. I've heard about a lot of issues to do with the amp head, something about chinese components and whining but I've never had an issue with mine, turned it on for a whole day to check and nothing. I used a lot of Roland equipment and use a lot of preamp models so this was ideal for me! I dont drive either, so the light weight is both easy on the back and I can carry it on and off the bus haha. I've never created any of my own presets because of the twenty already there, I always find what I'm looking for. The rig looks pretty suave too . I intend to get the second 1x15 cab in the near future. Finally, these two I'd HIGHLY recommend for the beginning, if you want to fast track your learning. The Boss DR-880 (version II), has some preset drum and bass tracks, great for timing and ear training! Should be able to pick one up off of ebay for about £170. You can also switch off the bass tracks and leave the drums on their own; so take out your chord book and start to improvise for a couple of hours each day, builds up stamina and creativity and all that jazz. Roland Cube30 Bass Amp, Roland and Boss do some of the best learning equipment and this is the best practice amp I've ever used, take it everywhere with me. Has preset amplifiers and tone shape, compressor, delay, wah, reverb, flanger, chorus, gain etc. Shame they dont do Rigs!!! THATS THE LOT!!! (apart from the Marshall MG 15CDR) Comments please! Cheers Oli
4. Ooooo!! Another Carlisle Bassist! Send me the prices via PM please

6.
That is the real deal right there! Nowt much better then a proper Curbow bass
I second that!
7. MINE!! . Stuart is a fine gentleman to deal with! And has some fantastic basses for trade/sale. Highly recommended
8. This is honestly the best bass I've seen on BC since I joined...
9. D'addario all the way...
10. Withdrawn - Project it is then!
11. final bump
12. Hi I'm not splitting the two up just yet, sorry.
13. bump
14. I like the look of this, pretty flashy looking jazz! Nice shape n finish, their guitars are sweet too BUMP
15. Hi Basschatters, I have an Ashdown Superfly Head + 2x10 cab in mint condition with boxes and cases etc. This will appeal to most bass players who either don't drive, are having back problems or looking for their first rig. Sounds amazing with no preamp settings, flat alone is incredible tonewise. Both Cost me £500 each until there was some issue with the superfly head, something about chinese components, perhaps someone can give info. It led to their withdrawal but I've never had any issues with mine, I enjoy the british quality of Ashdown. I'm selling both for £350 collected from Carlisle area Reason I'm selling: Got a high end Genz Benz 750 with Neo 2x12 Cab recently and won't be needing an amp for a very long long time. DETAILS OF CAB: Developed specifically to partner the Superfly programmable and Little Giant compact bass amp heads, the Superfly cabinets use ultra-light weight Neodymium-magnet drive units to achieve a dynamic, articulate sound, coupled with previously unimaginable portability. Just sling the amp over your shoulder, pick up a cabinet in one hand and your bass in the other ? and you're on the way to the gig! Power Handling 550W Speaker Configuration 2 x 10 plus horn Impedance 4 ohms H x W x D (mm) 590 x 465 x 345 Weight (kg) 20 DETAILS OF HEAD: Ashdown Engineering’s extraordinary new Superfly combines a sophisticated programmable bass preamplifier and a powerful 500 Watts RMS power section in a compact bass amp head that weighs in at just 10 pounds. A product of the innovative Ashdown Labs development programme, the Superfly is gifted with a powerful, authoritative sound with a strong, controlled bottom end and clear, precise highs, all courtesy of an advanced digital power amp section. Programming the preamplifier is an intuitive and straightforward process. The user can store 69 programmes comprising of input level, 7-band graphic equalisation and compression settings, and switch them via any MIDI-compatible pedal to achieve an exceptional degree of live performance control on stage. Cheers Oli
16. Hi Basschatters, Up for sale is a mint condition bass I recently traded with a fellow Basschatter - a U.S.A Charvel Star Bass (Blast from the Past). A brand most famous in the 80's with the likes of Eddie Van Halen, W.A.S.P and the Scorpions, plus other glam rock/ hair metal bands. Reason I'm selling is because I'm saving up for a high end amplifier. This one is Ferrari Red with two Seymour Duncan Bassline P/J pickups. The body is Alder for a light weight and warm precision tone with plenty of clarity and the neck is smooth Eastern Hard Rock maple (no laquer, no satin VERY fast with low string action) with a rosewood fretboard adding to the warmth. Charvel are now distributed by Fender as opposed to Jackson; and have a similar build quality to fender. These are built like a tank and originally retailed at over a grand and are limited edition but are old, old stock explaining its price. Any style can be played on this it's very versatile (common theme in my collection ). The bass has a badass II bridge - never used one of these before but I will in the future! and gotoh machine heads. The bass has a lovely comfy shape fitted hardshell case, plus a compartment for your allen keys/tuner etc (worth 70/80 quid on its own IMHO). The strings are d'addario. I'm looking for £375 on collection but will post at half the fee. If no interest soon I'm going to turn it into an exciting flashy project which I'll show you guys on the forum . Any question/photos needed gimme a shout. I will part exchange towards something or bundle my basses/amps if i'm interested. Cheers Oli
17. Hi Basschatters, Up for sale, with pictures this time, is my Mint A1 Condition Cort A6. I bought this fully setup imported from the USA to Penrith Guitar Fayre for £800. RRP £900. It has a 5 piece Maple/wenge thru neck body at 34" - This doesn't affect the clarity of the B string and the string tension is nice and high. The bartolini Mk1 pickups act as a ramp so it's a VERY fast player and shouldn't be a problem even for a four string player (like me ). The bass has custom platinum hipshot hardware (well I haven't seen it anywhere else!) and a fishman preamp to give a love mid range punch. You can play any style you wish on this bass, its very versatile. The strings are the d'addario set, which are lovely and bright. The body is a lovely flamed maple with a rosewood fretboard. I had been looking for a six string under a grand for ages and tried the ESP, Ibanez SR and BTB, Yamaha TRB - this one won out, and its the only thru neck. Its a lot like a Tobias, but if you need reviews harmony central has loads. As for youtube the videos of this model have a pretty bad sound quality, and the one that does have a good sound - the guys using distortion . Gimme a shout if you have any questions. Price drop to £375 with Gig Bag and P&P included Reason for Selling: Can't afford to keep it at current.
18. Yours is the 6th that I've seen now! Although I've never seen that finish ever before. I think each model is unique, but I'm not too sure on that - can I ask the serial no. please?? Theres one about to go on ebay if you want to look for a rough price estimate, I would say its an easy £900 depending on the dings - could you describe them if their not visible through the paintjob.
19. Judging by the bridge, 6 bolts and string thru body, I bet the sustains pretty damn wicked. BUMP!!
20. The gold hardware on the red maple quilt is amaaaazing, nicest fretless I've seen in a while. Gotta love those maple lines, be lost without em!
i try my best! I never said the price was good nor was I condoning what he was doing, all I said was that telling him it was taking the mick was the realm of private conversation now that he's no longer returning (as he has stated) its all academic. No hypocrisy there!
Haha
to be perfectly honest, I thought that price queries were the realms of PMs?
I wasn't going to make an offer, I was just browsing and discussing the vintage basses. I think you should be able to consider prices with other basschatters because then the less experienced players won't get a poor deal. Slotted headstock or not, it ain't worth £1300, perhaps his ebay price is better... I don't care whether he's trying to rip us off because were on a bass forum. EB's are still one of the most limiting basses I know.
24. Bump for a wicked bass tutor and the best value price for a CIJ I've seen. I'd say it was a 70's reissue - looks like theres holes for a bridge pickup cover in the tortoise shell pickguard. Regards Oli Matt
