Opinions/Advice Much Appreciated on Amp for Newbie
Downunderwonder replied to The Attic Man's topic in Amps and Cabs
Dude. Once you get the hang of always playing in time no matter what, it's a whole different world where you are the benevolent King of Bottom End. Then you work on playing way more right notes than wrong ones for your own satisfaction. As you aren't in a band yet I say keep saving so you can join one with a band worthy amp. Don't waste money on a glorified practice amp. My experience with the V3 Rumble 100 is it surprised the hell out of me. It looks like a glorified practice amp but actually has some heft to it. You wouldn't join in with drums and 4x12 guitar stacks but short of that it will cover a lot of bases. If you get a hankering to play in an insanely loud rock band you will be looking for some well used big old gear going cheap. Most people on this forum have some they would happily offload to you. -
Some pubs that do that here have a couple of big footed steel pipe railings strung with banners that can push back to the wall and put out more tables for food service. Yours could be non welded so the feet and rails come apart for throwing in the van.

Genz Benz Shuttle 9 Speakon Experience..
Downunderwonder replied to Chaos Daveo's topic in Amps and Cabs
Bad day at the office left production short of genuine? Someone filched good ones and substituted fakes somewhere along the line? I really doubt they are all like that but it would pay to check your GenzBenz cabinet right away! -
The secret Santa must have been thinking you were a proper ingrate when tracking said it was delivered and then... nothing.

Quit trading while you are ahead, or rather back where you should have been, in front.

What am I actually trying to achieve and with what?
Downunderwonder replied to NancyJohnson's topic in Amps and Cabs
You could fashion a thermoplastic skeletal frame that took in the wings of an RBI and grasped it on each side and carried on up and around a Quilter Bass Block. Throw that in a backpack with your leads and you would.hardly know it was there. -

The SansAmp pedals are well below the standard rack preamp level of "line out". If the amp amp isn't known to run on pedals it will be hit and miss if it runs on a BDDI. That is why I suggested using the RBI. Output for Africa on those. -
This Trace Elliot ELF never ceases to amaze me!!!!
Downunderwonder replied to Mike Bungo's topic in Amps and Cabs
Exactly. One man's reasonably loud band is another's quiet band. Things is, the folks who play in what we would term stupid loud bands are unable to fathom how the rest of the world operates. -
You could put a RBI combo style in the front or top-back of the speaker box and strap any little class D amp with fx loop to the top, or even always on inside the box. All power wired from the one jug cord socket input. RBI xlr out. Your choice if the cab has a speakon parallel AMP out or not but you wouldn't ever plug another amp into it.

You cannot be serious. Half the elves on the planet probably drive 8 ohm cabs in bands. -
Studiospares gone into administration.

Is it fait accompli when such a meeting of creditors has been called, that a company is liquidated? Or do they have what we call "Receivership" whereby the creditors have to wait for administrators to determine if a more satisfactory outcome can be achieved? A company can continue to trade "In Receivership" and potentially be released from administrative control to continue trading normally after getting solvent. While the Receivers run things they don't have to clear outstanding debts by selling assets. -

You worded that correctly but it still gives me the heebie jeebies. Make sure the combo amp is disconnected from everything when doing that! Also, don't have the Elf plugged in until the other connections are made. The Elf amp is bridged mono so a momentary speaker ground short also shorts the amp. Unplug the Elf power first when packing down. -
New Rumble 100 is a world away from the old ones. Take away the 'rumble' and add loudness and lightness.

Or an action figure. You have an action finger. -

You won't need a post it note in your classifieds. -
Have you ever paid to play a gig?
Downunderwonder replied to hiram.k.hackenbacker's topic in General Discussion
Kinda, not really. The community band I play in doesn't pay the members but it makes some decent money on paid gigs that is spent on travelling to do free festivals. I wind up not out of pocket except for some food and drink. -
Post-It Notes / Usernames in sales pics

It's pretty standard that a first post on signing up to a forum is checked that it smells of real person interested in the forum. The main purpose is adding a gateway against spammers but scammers will get weeded out also. -

That's a good start. -
The Rumble 100V3 is super loud for its size. I used one on a festival gig and I thought it was DI'd but turned out to be the only thing filling the room for jazz orchestras. The weight of it would suggest a toy but it's a real thing. I never go without a High Pass Filter aka HPF. It stops things from going boom.

Yes. Carve up a dual wall cardboard shipping box or twin boxes with double sided tape. Wrap in duct tape if concerned about fluids on stage. 5 quid worth of tape max.

I thought Elf power was Peavey homegrown. -
Maybe I was just lucky that nearly everyone played the songs very much the same as the record as far as chord progressions went and I have a good ear. Those songs were standards 20 years ago when I was jamming and I played along dropping the odd clanger. Trains wrecked only with the odd noncompetent given the mic. If you are slated for backing folks ahead of time one would hope they have a handle on it. Better charge up your phone and have the songs on repeat all day.
