  1. Off the bench to remind everyone doubling power only gets 3dB more each time until the coil starts to heat up. Then the increased coil resistance reduces the efficiency. Shortly after that you will generally run out of excursion and make farty noise. OP seemed pretty clear that the amp and cabs worked well aside from the one bass. New rig is way down the list. OP needs to chime in on his outlaw bass setup check.
  2. Highly reminiscent but not as I remember it, would definitely do the job if I could read it on the fly. It would depend on the drummer having it down similar enough and probably jamming it out the both.
  3. The Japanese have a good saying about saké. The man drinks the 1st bottle, the 1st bottle drinks the 2nd bottle and the 3rd bottle drinks the man.
  4. Nice work. Captain Morgan has good taste in run down basses.
  5. Try bypassing the horn attenuation and all, ie input direct to the woofers. You may find there is enough top end albeit not very shiney. If you do go down the route of doubling up on cabs the 2nd one will have plenty of sparkle for both. In case you are still wondering, the attenuator turns down the amount of power going to the horn, by turning it into heat. Blasting the attenuator with distortion and attenuating it can cook the attenuator. Better to EQ it before sending to the power amp.
  6. Quilter 800 is uncoloured at noon by design. Can also put on a dirt show.
  7. Yerp. 150w can do for a 15 if you EQ it bassy enough.
  8. Not all preamps will work with all basses. Looks like you may have discovered that already. If your other basses do fine then you could well do with an extra preamp for the fretless and carry on elfing.
  9. Are you really that bad that the landlord thinks you are pushovers? Tou can't renegotiate by decree and not at the 11th hour either. Turn up and demand the original agreed deal pay up front before setting up. Be prepared to walk. If that happens find the closest bar that will have you for 2 quid cover on the door and play your aresesses off 9 to 12.30.
  10. Band meeting -1. Decide. ^firing^. Job done. Start auditioning for new backing vox. You are asking a bit much for a true lead vixen to hang about doing backing vox most of the time. Don't make the same mistake twice. To my mind the band gave her an opportunity but she has fallen short. She needs to be set free to follow her own folksy path. Maybe that will make her really angry and turn her into the next Joan Jet, doubtful.
  11. You gave it a fair go in the best spirit of the world of "Order by mail, your satisfaction guaranteed!!".
  12. Could cause life expectancy issues for the drummer if she is bad and he doesn't properly appreciate her efforts.
  13. Short arm high is also valid. Loose pivot definitely won't help.
  14. Dunno what you are up to with your multimeter but your assumption is wrong for starters. On the assumption that Blue Aran actually know what they are doing then you could just stop worrying about it and rock on per the advice given. Hook it all up and it should work from either speakon. There is no reason they would supply you with a 2 speakon panel that wasn't wired for parallel. A series one would be labeled as such. If you really want to test it out you'll need a bit more gear and know what +1 -1 +2 -2 actually represent. Bill sort of clued you in.
  15. Make sure the subharmonic muddifier is not engaged.
  16. I can see it ending badly. Her and hubby get their groove on as the new rhythm powerhouse. They find a new keys player. I can see it ending just fine if she is as bad a bassist as she is a keys player. In that case hubby will tell her she's much more use to the band playing keys, end of drama.
  17. I think I may have played one on a festival backline a couple of years ago. It was an Ampeg 15 combo of the non retro look. It had the scrambler option which I left off. I plugged in my fx board and was happy. Unplugged and left. Sorry that's the best report anyone can manage.
  18. Computes badly. Something broke. The most likely explanation is overdriving.
  19. What the p player should play and what they actually play are sometimes very much not the same thing. It takes a fair bit of skill to do the comping chord thing up in behind the treble bit. A lot of them never learn to do it. They have previously always played bass with no bassist. Big trouble ensues.
  20. If Tech21 doesn't recommend it why take the risk? There's no crud building up in there to clean.
  21. Well I guess it's not serious yet. More, joking around?
  22. Stereo fx are for only good recording and playback under ideal conditions. Bar room not included. Bill made a rare booboo. Stereo is located above 100hz.
  23. Try putting on the boomerang as if you were a "lefty" playing a bass guitar.
