I forget the name but its all over the internet. Hydrive series innit? Similar size cab, higher power handling rating < big grain of salt disclaimer >, same style of aluminum cone presumably similar tonal qualities or at least as similar as you are going to find.

This. If the 150w of pure Trace grunt blew it once it will blow it again. OP may not realise there are precious few North Americans on this forum. Odds of anyone here in his immediate four State neighborhood knowing where there is a good reconing shop for him, very slim. I am not sure he has even done a battery test. Instead relied on 'I know I connected it up right when I did the job'?

Ashdown Ant. 200watt pedalboard amp for £299
Downunderwonder replied to dave_bass5's topic in Amps and Cabs
Beer has it's own way of hurtling sideways, so I refer you both to the great and almighty authority that is beer. I am merely beer's humble emissary. If your pedal board does not hang around with beer then you have no fear. This product may well be the duck's nuts for you. Since many pedal boards do hang out with beer and the vents are not obvious at first glance I think it's a valid point to raise. -

It's a hard road to satisfy bassists. Give them what they want and they complain it isn't what they want. Fan cooling means not at all water resistant. At least most pedals stand a pretty good chance of being ok in an accident involving a drunk and a jug of beer. If you watch the promo vid they are all about the touring and quiet stage folk. It sure does cover a lot of tasks in a small package. If you aren't concerned about roaming drunk jugs of beer it's a good shout as a 'pedalboard amp'. -
Ashdown Ant. 200watt pedalboard amp for £299

Down on a pedal board is no place for an amp, especially one that is fan cooled. There are plenty of amps that you can plug a pedal board output into and take the DI out from the amp. Nobody mainstream builds a power block because there is no money in it. They are out there but not certified for hooking up to the grid. -
Your cab has been superceded. There are no reconing kits on offer. Option 1. Put the new model 15 in and either hope for the best and retune the cabinet as required or do some of your own research on that. Option 2. Find a reconing shop and ask them if they have or can source the original driver reconing kit out of some secret stash. Best be nice about it. You keep using the word fix. Ain't no fixing unless it is a simple separation of the dust cap or small tear at the surround of the cone that mates cone to the frame. You ruled those out already. So it requires a recone or binning. I already explained the recone process a little but sing out if you need more info. You saw the film Snatch? Analogous to 'fixing' a busted up driver.

Doubtful. I think the cheapest I have seen would be used Barefaced for around 700. Overkill for a monitor. A used 10"RCF active might be around 500 if you can find one?

Any sound person worthy of the title should recognize that effort and endeavour to EQ their PA to the room to save themselves the effort of tweaking everything in the mix. Lots of bands not even using cabs these days.

Help needed: Identifying source of unwelcome "rattle".

They make these things called 'young chaps' that deal with that. -

Ime just heavy enough to be a pain walking longer than a couple of blocks if the handle is less than fully comfortable. -
You do realise you are only on the start of the slippery slope that leads to a garage full of amps and cabs? It's not too late to hop off. When I started golf setting my gear I got to three rigs and started selling extras. For a while I was good. Then a bargain came along. Still I was good. Then another, and another... presently at 5 amps and 3 cabs which I can all justify for liking the sounds and the hefts and the looks and the practicalities. But nobody would complain if I went down to 1 of each, until something broke, and I could still cobble up a rig out of PA gear if all the bass stuff was stolen. Slippery slope I tell ye!

Hopefully you don't get taught any lessons the hard way. Not knowing what hours are involved I am guessing the 2 hrs 9 to 11 for headliners at Old Farts MC party. I would run with 1.5x what you charged for the pub party plus travelling expenses and accommodation and meals. From the sounds of the 300 Squid 6 piece PA toting 50 mile travelling band, they may not pay anything like what you need.

I'm stealing that.

Wherein the Devil resides. If the first opener of the email isn't technical enough to realise they are are of their depth then it can go two ways. Either it will be more trouble than it's worth to get the detail sorted or they get turned around by a sharp "Thanks for getting back to us, unfortunately we will be unable to participate unless someone who understands the details can be involved in making arrangements. This is another of the reasons why we suggested you engage a sound provider, someone who can liaise with the bands on technical requirements. Any number of things can go very wrong with putting on a multi band event so the best thing to do is have someone in charge who knows one end of a mic cable from the other".

Everyone is playing to a beat. Groove is someone or everyone not necessarily playing on any particular beat for some or all of their notes. I think Tim is wary of letting just anyone mess with the particulars to suit their own interpretation of what was played or should have been played a microsecond sooner or later than recorded.

Stray Cats Runaway Boys - what’s the walk?
Downunderwonder replied to Kevsy71's topic in EUB and Double Bass
Pretty darn sure the 2nd run is 4 semitones from Ab but will have to wait until home time again. -
The steam powered motorcycle never really got much of a following. Over here bikers dance with their partners and if the band is any good the mammaries will appear. The UK Harley Owners Club sounds like the last bit might be off the card but I wouldn't discount the possibility of dancing. A marquee is essentially outdoors as far as low end is concerned. If the drummer has a good right foot and you have a bass amp that can keep up you will be ok with a vocal PA. Lots of t crossing and i dotting to get done before you can commit to a price. I wouldn't be too keen to deal with whoever is suggesting all the bands set up their own PA's. Maybe they just need to be steered right or maybe they are an idiot. Hard to tell by email. Better odds going straight back to the committee. Dear HRCUK Rally Committee, thankyou for your invitation to headline your shindig. We are surprised that you would have all the bands provide their own PA. Perhaps you are not aware of the amount of time that would be dead air while bands set up. There are many other good reasons multiple band shows have a sound system with engineer running it, from the smallest of festivals to major events. You really would get much better entertainment value by engaging a local sound provider. Bands will give you much better prices so it may even cost you less in total that way. Our band will give you a price for showing up and playing 2 hours 9 to 11pm as headline act, Hotel accommodation provided for <bandmember list>, of XXX0 squids. We would bring stage amplifiers and drum set for our exclusive use. Vocal PA to be provided by HRCUK. Alternatively our band would be happy to provide a pub venue style vocal PA that other bands can plug into and our sound person will operate. For us to give an accurate quote on that a few details need to be ironed out. No drums or bass will be put in the PA. Bands would need to bring their own microphones and microphone leads as these are high wear personal items. Likewise drummers must bring own snare drum and cymbals. We would provide guitar amps X and Y and the bass amp which other bands are welcome to use. Power of XX kVA must be provided for the exclusive use of the stage. If the other bands are willing to participate under those terms our fee would be an extra XXXX squid. (Make sure there's enough for a new set of drum skins for your drummer in whatever you decide to charge). I assume your PA has a good HPF on board in case someone wants to plug in piano / synth/ band in box tracks.

Groove is not contained in the click unless your groove is straight 1 2 3 4.

You may find that a little hair on your tone is actually what you wanted all along. I know I did and it only took me twenty years to discover. Still clean but definitely hairy. To try that on for size indeed turn up the gain until it sounds bad and then turn it back down a little. Add volume with the master output. @Russ knows what I am talking about.

Ask Korg if the old cabinet tuning works for the new drivers. If not you could retune your old cab to suit and that would probably still be your best bet for the tonality.

Stray Cats Runaway Boys - what’s the walk?
Downunderwonder replied to Kevsy71's topic in EUB and Double Bass
Ok, bass in hand. Nah, all kinds of wrong unless you are playing uptuned a semi tone and then still wrong. E D Db C Ab G Gb F Sounds wrong played solo but that's what it is. Friggen geniuses them Cats. -
Stray Cats Runaway Boys - what’s the walk?
Downunderwonder replied to Kevsy71's topic in EUB and Double Bass
I believe your ears are correct. Not having a bass to hand I am relying on intonating the intervals in my head. The sharpened octave leads back to the root so pretty sure you got it nailed. Tab off the interwebz is frequently a pile of dog doo and likewise not to be trusted as far as it can be thrown. -
Head ideas for ultra-low budget setup...
Downunderwonder replied to Jamesemt's topic in Amps and Cabs
is required to destroy one. Damn right they can be heavy / heavier / so heavy you would think someone poured a slab of concrete inside to make it unstealably heavy, depending on the particular model. The extra old ones play a cruel joke on the unsuspecting by having the single central strap handle. Many a back thrown out for sure. The later models aren't nearly as unmanageable but still a fair bit more than a 210 worth of struggle. Bridging a stereo amp into a single 210 not advisable. Most amps would have way too much power. On the other hand if, it was lacking input sensitivity with your Sansamp it could balance out. In a rehearsal environment you could get away with single 15 or 210 cab. Putting the cab up on a chair will let you hear it a lot better, and guitarists should do same. No Virginia, no low end is lost! Hearing the cab better means hearing the midrange better and more like it sounds out front. Should be stenciled on the back of all guitar cabs.
