1st order of business, take the compressor and tuner out and see what bass into amp does. Generally it takes a lot of experience to get to where DI bass through PA to fill a room is going to be better than a decent cab with 500w behind it, no matter how many toys you put in between. With bass a 'blend' very quickly turns to muddy stew out front.

Sound for Queen's funeral and similar

A whole row of bass drummers to keep everyone in step. I'd be surprised if what you hear on the telly isn't basically whatever the TV sound crew gathers up live from their microphones. -
No makey sense to me. 4kHz = an undisclosed hearing aid gone bezerk?

Ruin a band / artist by removing one letter from their name

The Eatles. /thread. -
It's hard enough putting the boogie in the low end being a quasi extra drum and a chord element at the same time, just playing one note at a time on the bass. Keyboard bass and guitar bass can fill a void, but it's not the same.

Aye. And 410 as a monitor is crazy town overkill unless you're on an outdoor stage.

And yet I have made great milage out of knowing where 'flat' is on various amps before plugging in. The basses and pedals are constants Absolutely it is a point of reference!!! That's the whole point!!!!
-
The point of knowing where 'flat' is found is that you can plug in your preamp pedals and minimal tweakage will have you all set.

You won't know until you bow. A pro will make a decent enoug sound with anything, much as a pro cyclist could take the field on an off the rack bike. A good bow will do things that a cheap one will not, if you have the technique, which you can't learn on a piece o' junk.

The VPF cut indicates you have a ~120hz resonance.

I heard £Sterling has tanked against the US$. Makes all imported goods prices rise along with. The used market is more affected by general inflation but also tracks with the fresh new price. Inflation is a curse.

Pointy Bass Headstock = Sticky Out Basslines. Everyone knows this!

An acoustic guitar is the usual suspect when there is 'bass' booming going on yet the bass is muted.

1 guitar, 4 musicians, Billie Jean.

That's some fantastic cack handed slamin' bassing / rhythm strumming with assistance from cack handed chord man plus cajon man and lead guitar, if I'm not mistaken.- 4 replies

@Paddy515 it might pay to ask on the Ashdown club thread instead.

All a bit unnecessary. I was delighted to learn 'flat' on GK is 10 2 1 10 o'clock positions. So much easier to get where I want to be when starting from 'flat'. Likewise 2 10 2 on anything 'Fender EQ stacked'. All the gigs I have had to do with Markbass backline sure went a lot smoother for knowing 'flat' is with the filter knobs at zero and the rest noon. So if one of you gents would actually deign to cough up Ashdown 'flat' it might come in handy sometime.

That's the hard part to ensure, hence my overkill rule for my amps.

Always plug in the cab 1/4" first. Always disconnect the power before unplugging the cab. Nil danger unless there's a chance the lead can be yanked out midstream.

It's common these days for class D amps to consist of a pair of amplifying units hooked up in bridge fashion to a single output. This leaves one of the output legs at case ground so grounding the other puts the amp into instant loop of death mode.

It's more like ''can you cook''. Sure I can cook. Your'e never going to pay me to cook in your restaurant but I can follow a recipe. So in my book you can read music, you just need more time at it to be able to sight read to time.

How to request a song from the band...
Downunderwonder replied to MacDaddy's topic in General Discussion
You only just lost out on disproving the old adage ''you can't please all of the people all of the time''. If you had played Apache for the finale it would have brought the house down. -
This thread has strayed all over the spectrum. My happy place is pub venues where the PA is vocal only with a splash of high passed kick to add defintion and everyone stays under the vocals. When I was in a rowdy jazz combo and backlined the PA it was so easy. Subwoofer and a PA cab separated by crossover. Boom. I had to highpass myself a bit higher to avoid mud from the kick. All good. What was the OP about again?

There is something to this. 5x is an exaggeration but I can't put my finger on how badly. Ime I had a 300w per channel power amp which I verified the no load voltage at onset of clip as spot on for its 300w rating. Using the same cab it sounded like it was missing about 100w worth of welly compared to the 250w Trace amp.

Depends on your definition of realistic and perception of what is considerable. Hence snob value is extemely hard to seperate from playing performance.

Can anyone identify the make of this bass
Downunderwonder replied to bigmuff69's topic in General Discussion
It would be one helluva coincidence if it wasn't one and the same.
