  1. They did last time but I'll let you know for this time! The audience will be ok with FOH so I'm not worried about that side of things. I'm just trying to make the next 4 months a bit more pleasant on stage. Several hours 6 nights a week so might even put my hand in my pocket to point myself in a direction where I can hear myself and so can the band. Last time was not the funnest losing a fight to get a workable stage sound every night. Anyone found the lifeline cuts better and goes louder without feeding than the copper head? (thats what folks say I believe)
  2. I can't sell them as they aren't mine its a ship bass on a cruise. I think with the tiny stages, awful bass amps and the drums, keys, and vox all pretty full on I will need all the mid I can get unfortunately! It has the realist copperhead and if its like the bass I used last time its going to be a chocolate fireguard of a set up.
  3. They are on a Shen SB100 and I play jazz. I am guessing they might not really work too well for loud amplified quartet stuff with drums. I wasn't crazy about them but yesterday was the first time I touched that bass so don't have much context. I feel like spiro's might cut the mustard better for what I'm doing. They seem to be quietish, woolly without much sustain. I just don't think it will do too much more than whisper on stage with the cabs I have available to me here. Do you have any experience of them? I think in some contexts they might be fine!

I have a bunch of other stuff going including a new preamp that should power it: I would sell both as a pair for £250, all prices include UK postage!

  13. Hi would it be possible to try the bow? I’m NW9 on the jubilee line! Jay
  14. Hi, I am an Ehrlund EAP user and I like the onboard preamp that comes with it and I'd like an extra one! The cheapest thing for me would be to buy the preamp with the PU £415 from thomann and find someone to chip in who wants the PU on its own. (Ehrlund do recommend using the PU with the onboard preamp just to be transparent). You could though for example use it with headway EBD 2 or EBS SCAP if you wanted to. I have tried it with both it works well I just personally prefer to have onboard controls. Some people hate stuff on their bass and might fancy a go. Any takers? https://www.thomann.de/gb/ehrlund_microphones_eap_system.htm
  15. So I'm originally a guitarist for my sins! I tried a lot of different pickups for acoustic guitar and ended up absolutely swearing by a product called the Highlander IP2. Highlander are no longer in business but an english company called headway shine the torch with similar technology. By these broad mathematical brush strokes in theory this pick up is going to sound absolutely awesome! (Not nasal quacky and for a piezo very natural and balanced high output feedback resistant.) This product is very niche and does require small grooves routed into the bridge feet with maple pads underneath them which I think will put off some purists. For me that doesn't seemed that much more offensive than bridge adjusters or some other pick ups that drill into the bridge or have pads under the bridge feet. If it sounds good I wouldn't mind! I've rinsed the internet there is one on a bass in bass direct and theres about 3 reviews on the entire web - all seem on the positive side. I'd love to know anything at all! Opinions! Experience! Whatever you have. I'd love to try this pick up especially in the London area.
  16. Thanks guys new moon were great for my needs! Easy to change instruments ect!
  17. Hi anyone got any good recommendations for insurance? Up to 10k's worth of equipment including a double bass. If they do public liability too thats good! Thanks for your time
  18. I’ve owned mini mark and GK MB150S and a PJB cub I now have a GR bass mini head and GR bass AT 110 cab. I’m totally sold on all of the GR stuff, it’s very loud and sounds very transparent but still very nice sounding. Also it’s extremely light. I really don’t see the other options as being in the same league for upright or electric IMO! It’s a little tricky to get your hands on though but bass direct have stuff in stock or can order it in. Some people don’t trust the carbon models for stability but I personally do and there’s wood options if you prefer that anyway!
  19. Thanks guys: Tim Bachelar (Leicester)I just Had a look online and he seems interesting and it’s good he has things set up already before sale. Anyone have any knowledge/experience of him or his luthier?
  20. Thanks guys. I’m in London for my sins so Thwaites is quite close. Would you guys rate bass bags over it or too far out for you to have tried?
  21. Hi I would be happy to buy this. Sent you a message. Thanks Jay
  22. https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Headway_Pro_Upright.html Anyone got any thoughts or opinions on this I’d be interested to hear any! The guy who set up the basses and fitted the pickup anyone know of him? thanks guys Jay
  23. I’m hoping to hire a double bass flight case maybe a days grace each side for pickup delivery: Dates: 21st December 2022 - 5th January 2023 If you can help what’s the pick up drop off address?
  24. Hey Ben I personally don't think there is any competition sound wise for a 10 with a tweeter. It's loud and sounds good and for a 10 pretty neutral. The wooden version is only a bit heavier and cheaper if you want to rough it up a bit. I've had no issues with build but I treat it like a double bass. As in I'm careful with it.
