  1. Crown have a reputation for really solid reliable amplifiers and this rack-mount amp will deliver 600W (RMS) into an 8 ohm loudspeaker system. Can also be used for stereo PA, 300W per channel into 4 ohms Obviously needs a preamp for use with a bass Balanced XLR inputs from a mixer if using for PA Short-circuit protected, soft switch-on, clip indicators, Weighs 10.4kg If you need a Speakon adaptor cable to use for bridged mono I can supply one, or you can pick up the bridge speaker feed from the binding posts Some marks to the rack ears at the back of the amp, but otherwise in good condition - please see photos I'll courier at cost if necessary, or arrange pickup if you can get to NW London

  2. I'm out. After managing to hold off for a few weeks, I have caved in and purchased the rather nice Guild Starfire that has been sitting in the 'Basses for Sale' section. I'm still one up for the year however since two basses have gone out the door. Now, Please can someone invest in my 16 channel soundcraft mixer, or my Furch dreadnought and I'll be able to tell the family that I'm financially quits for the month? Otherwise I may have to lie...
  3. When it comes to equipment, cables, connectors etc: If it advertises itself as 'Professional' it almost certainly isn't.
  4. Ah, me making a naff assumption again... I didn't realise it was a wall wart and thought that it had a separate plug. Doh!
  5. I would just cut off the EU plug and replace it with a Uk 13A version - 3A fuse inside. Only needs a screwdriver and a pair of cutters.
  6. Went to the first date of Cara Dillon's tour at Kings Place in London. Sam Lakeman gave a big 'Thanks' to Edwin Ireland on Bass, who had first met the rest of the band only that afternoon and 'hasn't missed a note'.
  7. Back in the day each active speaker needed two Oompa Loompas, they operated in Class B push-pull mode...
  8. Hi, I'm interested in a Guild Starfire, but I have to sell an acoustic first. I don't suppose you'd consider a trade? thanks Nick
  9. No, I just meant check that you have a good earth running from your amp to your bass. But to be honest, on consideration, its a daft remark by me! (Based on a memory of old American gear that used a cheap auto-transformer to drop the 230v to 110v) So please ignore. I'll go and have a nap...
  10. If you have a multimeter worth checking earth continuity from amp to bass through the fx unit. The step-down unit is double-insulated, which is fine, but obvs it doesn't provide an earth.
  11. Just sold a 5 string to Anita14, who is very easy to deal with and travelled over to pick it up - which was a bonus. Honest and recommended to anyone else who decides to trade with her.
  12. Lovely dreadnought acoustic. Professionally-fitted Fishman pickup. Excellent condition. Western Red Cedar top, layered mahogany sides and back 45mm Nut, 650mm scale length Ebony bridge and fingerboard Will mail if necessary for £25
  13. Looks a bit like one of those 1980's Electrovoice horn-loaded bins - are you sure that its a fridge?
  14. Different capo settings a great idea. Or, if one guitar strums, the other could pick - just simple arpeggios - then you don't have to worry about capo settings. Also if the strum pattern is a bit variable, its easier to keep the tempo correct. If you regularly decide to play second guitar consider a cheap parlour guitar tuned Nashville style. That alongside standard tuning can sound pretty awesome.
  15. Well I wouldn't recommend it. 🙂
  16. Running off a single socket also prevents the accidental use of separate phases. The installation (venue, hall, whatever) will regularly have 3-Phase power incoming and a number of power sockets on each phase intended to balance the overall load. Obvs only an idiot would leave different phases close to each other on stage... but stranger things have been known.
  17. OK, strictly speaking its a PA amp not a bass amp, but quite pokey and in excellent condition It will run either quad or stereo - or even one bridged output for subs and two separate outputs for stereo tops if you really wanted to. No volume controls, so needs a mixer or similar to control the input level Standard Jack inputs on the back and terminal posts for loudspeaker output (Green Phoenix connectors for input if you really want to use them) The latest version of this (with level controls on the front) retails at over £500 I can ship for about £18 if necessary
  18. I've bought loads of bits from CPC over the years, their technical items have always been reliable.
  19. Might it be possible that the earth/live connections to the humming pickup have got reversed at the pickup end? Pickup would still work, but shielding would be all wrong?
  20. Feeling smug since @Brig just bought my Gretsch hollowbody, so January is complete with one bass less and no acquisitions
  21. I think that you'd have to give them both the analogue and digital pedals and demonstrate what was happening. Like the power supply suggestion, I can only think that some sort of digital interference is getting into the analogue pedal, which is then feeding back into the digital pedal ... etc. etc. I guess you could try separating them a bit, like 10-12 ft? Or checking the screening on the analogue pedal - its a difficult one when everything works on its own, but not together.
  22. Is it possible that you're overloading the digital inputs? What happens if you turn down the volume on your bass slightly?
