Aha, I heard somewhere that this was a Jazz bass but thats with a SOFT 'J' sound so properly pronounced, 'Yazz' its a simple mistake to make. It relates to the french classic 'Les Paul'. Fact !!!

"Real bass players don't use picks"
Wayne Firefly replied to EdwardHimself's topic in General Discussion
Use a pick when you need them, fingers when you dont...... I also dont like vinegar on chips or sugar in tea.....oh dear, thats bound to start some kind of 'my way is better' discussion !!!! -

What essentials do you take to a gig? Kettle lead?
Wayne Firefly replied to stefBclef's topic in Gigs
Apart from a bass in a gigbag or a case to fly, amp in a 3 U rack and cab on wheels.... a large-ish lockable fibreglass case (stolen from British Aerospace in 1992 !) foam lined, waterproof which carries, 2 of every lead I need plus an extra long speaker lead, many spare strings, 2 straps, tuner, overdrive pedal, batteries, gaffa tape, toolkit with enough tools to strip a bass or guitar down to the frets !!! Soldering iron, solder, small-ish adjustable spanner, 4 sizes of screwdrivers, pliers, cutters, string winder, needle files, superglue, marker pens, stanley knife, Starbucks strirrers for repairing worn screwholes etc etc etc... I cant remember it all... then spares like fuses, jackplugs, strap locks, jack socket and so on...... A. I need to be totally self sufficient B. I'd rather be able to repair the problem than the gig be over because the guitarist has broken the jack on his guitar C. I super keep on top of my rig maintenence so sod's law dosent apply !!! D. I got caught out too many times not being able to put stuff right early on. E. When its all packed away, it stacks up on my cab and rolls along. -
Playing a quite big festival and the guitar player apparently (according to him) cant remember the key. It was in B. He mouths across the stage to me, before the song with a panicky look, 'B flat'... so I think ok whatever, not the time to be transposing but whatever. According to him, he was 'asking' me if it was in B flat not 'telling' me what key we were going to play the next song in. Anyway, we start the B song in B flat but only the intro and verses. The choruses and solos were back in the original key as he seemed to remember what the actual chord patterns were, but the verses were still a fret down.......NOT a time to be jamming......of course I never let him live that one down and the Youtube footage is that noisy, thankfully nobody seemed to notice our little faux pas....... I still laugh about that one.

Bass rigs-the bigger the better in my experience.
Wayne Firefly replied to daveparker123's topic in Amps and Cabs
I remember hearing/feeling a VBA400 and Marshall 8x10 rig at a gig in Swindon one night years ago whilst owning an Ampeg SVT3 and 8x10 and the Marshall DESTROYED my Ampeg !! I then sold the Ampeg and got a VBA and VBC 4x12, half size but impossibly loud... until I tried the VBA with a Mesa Powerhouse cab... it vibrated the stage so hard it hurt my feet stood in front of it.... so I got one... monster of an amp, deafeningly loud, walnut and sledgehammer effect everywhere we played....got sick of carrying it at gigs... especially when the load in was up a dark/wet slippery fire escape, then load out after a few beers....sold it all and got a Mesa Diesel 4x10 and Mesa Carbine M6. Still silly loud and super efficient but MUCH easier to carry about. I once borrowed an Aguilar 500 watt head and a pair of Aguilar 1x12's for a gig and was amazed how well it worked... Depends if you can live with lugging it around is what it came down to...... -
Two words.... F- OFF !! Works for me !!

Been down Denmark st. a few times since being in Vice Squad, and I agree with all the above... I made a game out of it after a while....one game was to pretend I had a limitless gold card and van parked near the Intrepid Fox, then see if I could kit the band out with what we all like. Fail Second game is to go into the shops and either match the staff in mood / surlyness or play dumb... its great fun. Just be what they expect you to be. If you get the surly stare or whatever, give it back, match the attitude !!! Playing dumb is the more fun though.... Then go to Starbucks and have a nice coffee on Charing Cross Road and chuckle to yourself about some time well wasted...... Because ultimately thats what it is... a waste of time.

Badass II, 4 string bass bridge in chrome with factory slotted saddles in superb condition, packaging included if required. Has been fitted to my Silver Series Jazz and just sat there pretty much. I'd like the same but in black as an upgrade to one of my other basses.....so if anyone out there has one they'd like to trade ?????? If so, get in touch.
