1. What colour is it exactly ? Sorry to sound like a dummy..
2. My Gibson Thunderbird makes a weird farty, "sounds like the speaker has gone" distorted type noise when plugged in. Its NOT the amp, speaker or lead as I've tried various different basses and all that and eliminated any other variables. Its the bass. Now, I've been told its probably a dry joint or it may need a new jack... Should I just replace the whole circuit with decent bits (axesrus.com) you know, CTS, Switchcraft, Sprague, decent wire etc. etc. or is it more simple ?? Or is it the pickups ?? They both meg out fine on the meter. Im nearly at getting a replacement circuit (not that that's a problem) so any advice would be good right now !!!! Cheers W.
3. Its not an Epi, it would be for my Gibson...
4. Who knows anything about these ? http://www.emgpickups.com/products/index/349/262
5. Just got back, no luck with Wizard pickups, says they cannot be reworked as they are epoxy dipped and he wont make replacements and the Thunderbuckers are too big and I'd have to make the pickup rout a bit bigger and Im not having that so its back to square one as I initially suspected..... buggery. Back to trawling until maybe something pops up... who knows ??
6. Im away this weekend so when I get back, I'll have it out and get it megged on the meter and check everything. I'll also try Wizard for prices too. Thanks everyone for the help and advice !!!! (but if those Thunderbuckers fit....)
7. Hmmmm... maybe new internals then first ??? The Thunderbuckers look VERY similar in the soapbar shape and single top and bottom screw holes.......I think GAS has a firm grip there... Who knows ? I'll try new wiring first. Little visit to axesrus then.
8. Wait.... just checked out those Thunderbuckers.......Maybe I should start saving.......it would look TERRIFYING (in a super hot way) with those fitted !!
9. Done all the usual checks... pickup heights, wiring and pots are fine. Its just super weak !! Cant afford Mike Lull's !!!
10. Got a 2000 T.bird and its all great, all black, new Hipshot bridge etc, but the OEM pickups are WAAAY mismatched. The neck pickup is loud and boomy as you'd expect, but the bridge pickup is thin and impossibly weedy.... approx 7 percent of the output of the neck pickup. Now Im taking this as the pickup is goosed so Im going to have to get a replacement. Everybody knows Gibson are notoriously unhelpful so Im down to an EMG-HZ replacement. Anybody know anything that might help ? Everybody seems to badmouth Barts as a non starter, Lollar dosent do them anymore and nobody else seems to have a clue. Any ideas ?
11. Ive seen Ibanez SR300F 's online as only for sale in the U.S. Am I right in thinking that we cant get them or is it the DXF version on sale in Europe ? Whats the case, if anyone knows ?
12.
As used by John Taylor, Nathan East, and, I think, Lee Sklar.
Good god damn.. I knew I wasnt going nuts !!... but there were doubts !!! Thanks !!!
13. I have vague recollections from the 90's of Yamaha doing acoustic basses... Am I right or was it all in my mind ?
14. Not had chance to try one, if you have, what was your opinion ?
15. this still available ??? W.
16. Been searching for a Badass 3 (4str) in nickel and everywhere seems to be sold out / out of stock / etc etc etc...... after a scan about, what other bridge has the same screw mounting holes as a 3 hole / string thru Am Series or Standard Fender ????
17. Got an Ibanez Sabre SB900 bass, needs a new circuit / preamp. Tried all routes to get it going, output jacks, batteries etc etc. Just want to change it. Whats the best circuit to use as a replacement in this case??? I love the bass, just cannot use it !!! Its a 4 pot set up, Bass pot, treble pot, volume and pan.
18. Got an Ibanez Sabre SB900 with a VOL / PAN / BASS / TREBLE circuit and its all farty and crap. Battery and jack socket change, it still wont work so I want a replacement circuit to get fitted so I can sell it on. Any ideas?
19. I have a Fender Jazz neck, American Series, maple fingerboard, 2005/Z5 prefix in exellent condition and I would like a trade with someone who has pretty much the same, an American Series or American Standard but with a rosewood fingerboard. I love these necks and the graphite rods keep it stable !!! Got to have the graphite rods !!!! OR... I have had a thought, if I sell it, I want to sort out a Status Graphite, bolt on Jazz neck...I need strength and stability. Mail me if you are interested.

21. Guess this is a dumb question but do any of the majors (EMG, Bartolini, S. Duncan etc) make a circuit that has 2 dual concentric pots in a VOL/BLEND stack and a 2 band EQ stack in one circuit ?????
22. After seeing some pics from a kindly supplied link, I still cant find any more info on the new 2009 Warwick Rockbass upgraded range. Anyone got an clues... prices? info? where they are and when they'll be around?? Its driving me nuts......
23. Seriously thinking of picking up a Tech 21 Landmark 300 watt head, I know the features and what it can and does do, but is there anyone with any info on what its like in the real world and not on a page??? I know Tech 21 stuff sounds ace and is bombproof but I play hardcore/punk, rockabilly and some electric blues, maybe even start some jazz lessons. I assume the Landmark head is powerful and versatile enough to cover all these "basses" (ahem...) thru a Marshall Jubilee 4x10. I want to use bass guitars, overdriven as well as clean and punchy and deep and wooly and also run my P.bass pickup-ed doublebass so versatility is what I need. Rambling now. Anyone out there? What if I get something like the new Hartke LH500 as a "power stage" and use a Tech 21 RBI rackmount as a preamp, which would be cheaper (ish) overall and give me the total versatility, the amp alone for the simple warm clean stuff and add the RBI for filth and/or bottom end?? Have I answered my own question ????
24.
Hi Wayne, I supported Stuntface at Central Station once in my old band The Fatal Mistake, think maybe somewhere else too, definitely saw you a couple of times! Think you were playing through an SVT back then?
Yes I had an SVT 3 and an 8x10 but when you had to lug said rig in and out of our rehearsal space, up 5 flights of stairs and around 3 corners, it started to get on my nerves, putting it politely !!!
