1. Great piece of kit. My main gigging amp for the last 3 years has been a Trace AH300-12, playing twice a month and rehearsal weekly. I typically play through a pair of 4x10s and push fairly hard to compete with a very loud drummer, and a noisy guitarist equipped with a Marshall stack Through all that it's never let me down.... Good luck with the sale but think hard about keeping the Trace - It's one you'll regret selling.
2. Welcome to Basschat! I've just committed to buying a Stingray myself, so will be able to share a more well informed view sometime very soon...

4.
Hey Will, why on earth would you need a SUB when you've got The Sonic Hammer
My son has outgrown the Peavey Foundation and is now covetting the Sonic Hammer Time to distract him with something from the Stingray family...
5. +1 on the Roland Cube. It also has a set of Boss / Roland effects built in, and a DI, so you can hook up to the vocals PA for practices battling with Marshall stacks. Willl
6. Would you consider a Yamaha TRB5p? It's a lovely bass, originally bought from Gwilym here. It's been in the rainy day cupboard for a year or so... There are a few pictures of it in this thread... although I think I may have had the DT shakes that day. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=11755&hl=trb5p If you're interested I have several better photos I can email over Willl
7. Multicomp arrived as advertised. Great packaging job! oh... and have a BUMP
8. I have a Boss GT6B which is full of goodies and great to use at home but when playing live I'm busy enough figuring out what to do with my two hands and very occasional singing to be able to use it effectively.
9. PM'd about the MXR

11. I do yes. It's still sitting in it's case in the corner, waiting for someone who can find their way around 5 strings better than I can to pick it up! Will
Hi Will Clutching at straws here. Do you still have your trb 5p?
12.
You havn't bumped this, and you haven't taken it off the market. Do you still have it, and are you still thinking of moving it on? David
I'm not in a desperate rush to sell but equally I'm not finding time to play it, so ready to sell if the right offer turns up! You're right though... it's time for a bump Will
13.
This is honestly one of the nicest Stingray's I've tried.
Jo Hope the tour is going well. How is Germany treating you? Did you ever sell this stingray? It's a very tempting bass.... If I can sell on my Yamaha TRB, I'd love to take it !! Will
14. There's no easy answer for you on this one and I have no special qualification to assist but here are a few thoughts. You'll read thread after thread on here of people 'looking for that tone', chopping and changing gear to try and achieve it. The issue is that your tone is what you want to hear - just that. It may well change over time and it's influenced short term by many things - the basses and rig you use, the volume you're playing at, the venue, the track, the sound from the other instruments (where you are in the mix). You'll hear a lot of talk about cutting through, which is not just about volume but about presenting a tone which fits and which the audience can hear in the overall mix. Clearly that suggests there needs to be some give and take to find a mix which works for all of you as a band - and in the real world asking your guitarist to give up on some of the bottom end of his ego-charged super fuzz over-driven pedal chain may be tough. Equally, finding a tone which works when you are playing live is not just about repeating the sound you hear when you're practising. Try using that EQ - it's what it's there for - to find a tone which works for you. The Jeff Berlin MB is a single 15" with no high freq driver. Great for that bass clinic solo, or practise sound, but potentially not what you need when you're digging into a grungy rock track... or slapping through a funky number. I'd suggest that if you have wireless or just a long lead - walk out front and hear yourself playing within the overall band's sound - and make changes based on that, rather than focusing on boosting your practise sound. Don't hold back on aspiring to and getting the best gear you can, we're all fuelled by repeated bouts for new gear, and that's part of the fun of playing, but keep in mind what your looking for. It seems to me that a lot of the newer, and certainly higher end gear is focused on uncoloured clean sound, vs the traditional and then perfectly accepted house sound from each maufacturer. Witness the amp and cab modelling effects recreating 'That Trace Elliot Sound' 'Flip Top' etc etc. I can't imagine we'll be seeing the same effects in 20 years time recreating a MarkBass / Genz Benz / Ashdown Superfly digital amp sound. So, what I see is that means is that you can now create a decent volume with a wide variety of good new gear and use effects to get the sound you want. OK - now having rambled (disjointedly) for a while I'm not sure I've even started to answer your question - and you may have preferred a "Go and buy an XX head and cab" (and by the way I have one for sale) but I would suggest play a few different setups, with your current gear and try / borrow / steal other gear to work towards a tone you can be comfortable with but no one can tell you what that should be Will
15. Offers or trades?
16. Couldn't find any discussion about insurance anywhere else... so thought it might be interesting to get a consensus view... What cover do you or your band have, both for public liability and cover for loss or damage to gear? Do you insure as a band or as an individual, and in any case, who is the best insurer to use? Do you rely on extensions to house insurance or are there good stand alone policies available? I appreciate Musicians Union is an option - is that the best one?
17. Possibly (subject to scraping together funds for a good lightweight replacement) I'm looking at selling my Trace Elliot Head. It's an AH300-12 GP12. The launch material from March 1999 says it's: * 300 watt head. * Valve/solid state preamp section. * 12 band graphic EQ. * Harmonic Emphasis. * Switchable, variable valve gain. * Switchable pre-shape curve. * Noise reduction. * Dual compressor. * Electro-luminescent front panel. * Full range effects loop. * Pre/post EQ balanced DI Outputs. * Tuner Output. * Fan cooled. There is so much written elsewhere about the Trace Elliot sound that I wont wax lyrical about it here. For me it's been a cracking amp for a loud rock and punky covers band playing through a mix of 4x10 and Trace 18" cabs. The cover is the TE green carpet style. It's been super reliable over the last 3 years after (just after I got it) I had GMAudio repair a failed output FET and fully service it. I'm looking to go lightweight and take advantage of the band's growing PA so it's time for this to go... I was asked if it could be rack mounted, and yes I think it can, and although I don't have any rack ears, the AH500 and AH1000 from the same range came in RAH (Rack mounted) form, so they're probably available somewhere. I've included a picture to show the tapped mounting holes in the side of the casing ready for the ears. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll do my best. It's in corking condition other than one missing EQ slider cover (highlighted in one of the photos below). I do have the optional 5 way footswitch to go with it which switches Pre-shape, Graphic, Valve, Compression and Effects Loop. I'm looking for as close to £300 as I can get, including Footswitch not including shipping. It weighs enough to prefer pickup. Thanks Willl

19. Decided to hang on to this for the time being... thanks for the interest and offers. Will
20.
Anyone know where there is another of these for sale, preferably de-fretted? Was there ever a TRB5P-F (fretless)? Slapathy
Slightly tardy response I know but if you're still looking for a TRB5P - It was me who bought Gwilym's as pictured. Here are a few more recent shots.... I'm look to sell or possibly trade - ideally for a some MarkBass gear. Will
21. Question for you. From the pictures this looks like a monitor / tilt back only style but the GAK site suggests it can stand upright as well as tilt back? GAK - "The angled cabinet design allows the unit to be used either as a floor monitor or in standard vertical position." What's the reality? Could you reasonably / safely stack it on top of a another cab for gigs? Cheers Willl
22. Rik - These are good cabs - I have a pair and they've served me well for my bass rig and they've even deputised as PA cabs on occasion. Have a middle of the week bump on me
