Anyone used one of these? I like the look of this pedal as it's got 3 separate loops that can be blended, or 2 with a clean signal with bass/treble adjustment, and phase switching on loops b and c. Is it worth almost double the price of a boss ls2 for the extra functionality, or is it worthwhile going for the Xotic stereo blender for £150 more?

Due to weather, I thought I'd see what I could do in 2 1/2 hours... The answer is this little bit of weirdness, especially for our ex-pat members with a love of the accordion! And it's been fiddled with some more now, link is in the future! Though I suspect that to our Gallic friends would think it sounds like une vache Espagnole...

I suspect I won't have time yet again to produce even an irrelevant ditty (sorry Douglas!). Spending all my spare muso time rehearsing with new funk rock band; they actually want to be tight, which is a new one on me! Still, found time to do a bit last week with other band - the Badass Weeds - here's a rough-ish mix especially for the delectation and delight of Douglas, but it's too long for compo entry... [/quote] While not many vinyls will have any information at those frequencies is another matter entirely, it is theoretically possible - and here's some analysis that shows it! http://www.channld.com/vinylanalysis1.html As the highest frequency possible is entirely down to the cutting head, the grain size of the vinyl,the quality of the head amps, the thickness of the vinyl, what's recorded on the master tape ( I know in the BBC we often limited audio to 15kHz because it was the highest likely transmitted frequency), noise present in the system; and its reproduction is dependent on stylus size and shape, quality of all the mechanical parts of the cartridge,how clean the connection to arm wires/cable to phono stage, how well coupled the cart is to headshell, tracking accuracy of both cart and arm, design of arm, isolation of turntable platter from vibration, speed stability, quality of RIAA decoding, actual frequency limits and quality of pre/power amps and whether the speakers can reproduce it! But if they're getting it off a relatively humble Tecnodec with RB250 and Kontrapunkt B, you'll possibly get more from better set-ups! Or perhaps not...

Vinyl can go beyond 50kHz - in fact high quality cutting lathes have a 6dB/octave filter set at that! Whether that's of any use is a different matter; though it's quite possible that interactions between these high and the audible frequencies give more of an impression of space and life to a recording. Of course the original master recording has to be made on a suitable machine - frinstance a Studer A80 with 0.25mm head gap running at 30"/sec could record 100kHz - this was one of the reasons why bias frequency was set at 400+kHz!

I listened to an HK Elements system which was pretty good soundwise - ran rings round the Alto system next to it but was also double the price - £5k just for the PA, plus mixer/mics/stands etc. And it wouldn't be able to compete on SPL with the JBL system - at full chat that would produce around 115 dB at the back of the hall!

I've been on the receiving end of grief from some before; I once booked Wilko Johnson to play at a local hall (different from this one!). Someone from the comm decided it was a good idea to chain shut the cupboards in the kitchen so those nasty rock'n'roll types didn't damage the crockery and attack folks with the cutlery! I've also discovered that the committee has decided £3500plus VAT should be more than enough, as someone's mate specced a Yamaha DXR10 system at that price; I've pointed out that it would run out of steam very quickly in the main hall...

Thanks for that! I'm actually leaning more toward a pair of JBL prx425s with 2x 15" subs, plus 3 Behringer iNuke6000 amps (that's a potential 2x9kW rms!), with Behringer wireless mixer... Just got to convince the committee they need to spend just over £5k!
