  5. From the further out-there fringes of funky jazz, or jazz funk, or avant funk or just plain old Harmolodics, here's Sax Maestro James Carter with the Philly Funk rhythm section of Jamaaladeen Tacuma and G. Calvin Weston, plus some rather fine and crazed guitar work by Marc Ribot.

  9. Recently at the Herdsman in Hereford... Just mobile phone footage and sound but you can actually hear me (for a change, though some might prefer not to) with headphones or decent speakers... I'm not Mr Clanky, that's Raph! ChokedBlindHerdsman 23-11-24.mp4

  11. I've never bothered because my singing voice is up with the very best of 'em! I could easily win XFactor or Cardiff Singer of the World but want to let everyone else have a chance. Last time I sang in front of an audience they were all so impressed they ran out of the room to tell all their friends and to announce my talent to the whole world!

  18. 😁One man's cheesey tat is another's best song in the world, ever ever! Anyway:
  19. Could easily be! This month I've only blessed y'all with an A played on a piano, my dulcet Elvis tones thanking the audience plus lots of various ambiences, some recorded by me and some from Freesound.. But I could have subjected the world to something phat and phunky and liberally smeared with my "singing". Or some crazed pseudo-jazz. Or a punk cover of some tat by Jefferson Starship...
  20. I can't stand the rain - Eruption
  21. Young Farts Run Free - Candi Staton
  22. Back To Nature - Fad Gadget
  23. Unfunky UFO - Parliament
  24. My 80s band is in the process of releasing our first album... We lasted a couple of years in Leeds, then 2 members went on to quite big success, and another 2 went on to far larger success. But back in 1998 or so one of the large success ones was getting married and came up with the idea of a Weeds reunion. We played 5 songs in an OKish fashion then decided to occasionally do a gig, and eventually (like earlier this year!) record an album. However, as we lived in Sheffield, Shropshire, Manchester, Limerick and the South of France we recorded our bits separately, and got it mixed by A Famous DJ Type. That's coming out Feb/March and is a half hour of Funky Goodness or Unbearable Racket, depending on your taste. And last weekend, South Of France Boy and I got together to record backing, bass and guitar 1 for the Difficult Second Album, ready to send off to Ireland for vox, to Manchester for WallOfSound Guitar and to Sheffield for the BigBeats.
