I like Grados, but the iGrado reviews seem to suggest they are rather flimsy to be out jogging with. Or am I worrying about nothing in your opinion????
I've had no trouble - they seem no flimsier than any others. The neck band works really well too. Not only that but they sound very good indeed for £45. Not up with their £2000 model, but shedloads better than boomphones like Dre's Beats!

i Grados are excellent...

They couldn't be the Monochrome Set without Bid... Let's hope Lester, and Andy Warren are there too!

Love 'em! Might be tempted to venture to the BrightLightsBigCity of Brizzle in October for them...

How do you know if a bassist is 'good' or not?

Here's an example of proper groove and tone, all at the same time! -

Everybody knows that the best bass player is the one who can play the most notes loudest and for the longest time... -
Well, alright then, the Beatles weren't so bad. But Elvis really was sh*t wasn't he? What?
He wasn't the world's best songwriter!

Y'all should see the level of name-calling and associated butturt on one of the hifi forums I frequent! -
I find it fascinating on a musicians forum that other users are decried for simply not liking the output of another musician; calling them anything else is ridiculous. Since when was one person's personal taste open to negative posts or ridicule? I find McCartney's voice, in the main, boring and bland, Harrison's guitar work insipid in the main & Lennon from most accounts sounds like a hypocritical b.o.a.t. which doesn't lend him to open consideration. I do have a few Beatles recordings, couldn't tell you the last time I played any of it, don't miss it & never find myself humming one of their tunes walking down the street. The same could be said of any average punter in the street of any band you care to mention, but because it's The Beatleszzzzz it's makes you tasteless, or in denial? Get [s]Back[/s] real!
Aye! It's all subjective. If you asked my mother, who's been a piano teacher for 50 years, what she thought about the Beatles (or the Stones, or Beyonce, or Led Zep, for that matter!) she'd say "rubbish, it's just pop music/a noise/populist nonsense". But if you dared to diss Bach, or Mozart, or Beethoven she would think you a Philistine... She doesn't understand that not everybody likes the same things. I did, however, get her up dancing to Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers once!
You'll soon be shouted down if you have the cheek to criticise nowadays. That's what i find amazing and how and what they have become.
Aye! Music is, after all, completely subjective. Personally I can't see how anyone wouldn't like Parliament, or Sceaming Headless Torsos. Apart from the fact I know that music is subjective! I find myself arguing against the relative merits of the Beatles simply because of the hysterical reaction.

The Greyhound in Fulham used to be very difficult to get anything but horrible, boomy one note bass in. In fact the only band I ever saw there that had an excellent bass sound was Arto Lindsay, with Melvin Gibb on bass...

I mainly play the Wal, but use the Sandberg and Parker with different tone settings for specific songs...
I know nothing of One Direction other than they sold their souls to Simon Cowell and are very successful. Are they song writers? .
OK, for the sake of argument let's say Take That could be the next saviours of music... In my book they produce populist pap of the worst sort (alright, 2nd worst sort!), but then that's what pop music is. Bit like "I wanna Hold Your Hand"! But perhaps Gary and Robbie (but probably not the other 2!) will take influences from Stockhausen and Toumane Diabate and make the most amazing, experimental music the world has ever heard, which would be lovely. But some things are difficult to forgive. Like "Back for Good". Or "Love Me Do"... However, my objections to the Beatles could be because I'm a stubborn s*d who doesn't like being told what to do, or what to like... Though funnily enough, I quite like Revolver. But I most certainly don't like Sergeant Peppers. Even though I've got the BeeGees version of it with fold out poster and featuring Peter Frampton, Steve Martin and Frankie Howard...

Who's to say that One Direction, once they've finished with their cr*ppy little songs for 9 year old girls, won't become the next innovators in music? After all, they've had huge success and are known all over the world...

Early 70s jazz/funk/fusion! - recommendations?
I bought that cd when it came out but it's nearly as far off the original posters quest as this is:
Nearly! Either way, not a bad bit of fusion... -

How's about some mid-90s German fusion? And if you can find a copy, try Alphonse Mouzon's "Mind Transplant" with Tommy Bolin on guitar... -
I'm not convinced on climate change either, but saying sea levels are rising due to putting things in the sea is absurd, sorry. It's probably negated by what we take out of the sea anyway.
Perhaps you need to see why there is a concensus of scientists on the issue! I remember years ago when we supported Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine at some of their gigs, they'd managed to do 350 shows in a year, and that included carrying and setting up their own gear. Admittedly, the gear only consisted of 2 guitars, 2 small combos and a DAT machine all shorhorned into a Mini along with them and manager, but plenty all the same!
And there's your problem with stuff like Chic, fun as it might be, but for a broadly rock band I would have thought that would be too much of a leap. Then again look at what Gun did with Word Up or Thunder with Funky Music. Both in a basic rock stylee, but you can mess with the bass underneath it to give it some groove instead of a straight bash.
My old punk-funk band used to do "We Are Family" as quite a heavy rock song!

Sort of 70s, sort of funk, but not obvious, "East River" by the Brecker Brothers...

Can't be doing with Bongos. Or Foderas. Or Hofner violin basses. Out of those, at least a Fodera plays well; I've had tea chest basses that play better than a Bongo! But then I've got a Wal, and a pointy headstocked Parker...
