  1. Sinister Porpoise - Creedence Clearwater Revival
  2. We're all on a bit of gardening leave at the moment, but we're back in Worcester on 2nd November at Spin The Black Circle Records...
  3. Guillo-teenage Kicks - Undertones
  4. We played a gig once after we'd spent a couple of hours before writing the set so our singer had crib sheets with his hastily scribbled lyrics on them. He got round the slightly duff look by wearing a schoolmaster's hat and gown so the stand became part of it!
  5. Whip in My Valise - Adam and the Ants
  6. I suspect that because a) I don't like singing as the whole point of a song, b) I don't like moany songs about boyfriends/girlfriends/break-ups, c) I do like something a bit different, d) I do like a bit of a pumpin' beat, then I'm not really the target market for Adele. Still, she can belt 'em out, seems relatively reasonable and likes a bit of a joke, so I have nowt against her. Though I'd prefer not to have to listen to her!
  7. Love Gun - Rick James
  8. I rarely take two... Most of the gigs we play are on small stages with 3 band line ups and nowhere to put gear. And as I haven't broken a string on stage for more than 30 years I'm touching wood that next time I won't be so lucky. Still, I carry spare strings and can replace one in the time it takes to put on a baked potato and have a bath. 😁
  9. Ain't that a kick in the head - Dean Martin
  10. Patella Patella You Bet - The Whooowhowho (again 😁)
  11. Tomarrow comes today - Gorillaz
  12. The voltage between any 2 230V phases would be just under 400V! And duff sparkies wouldn't bother trying to balance any sort of load, amazing how many times I found completely unmarked live wires. Or neutrals borrowed from other circuits so they wouldn't distinguish between phases! https://calculator.academy/phase-to-phase-voltage-calculator/
  13. You Better You Bet - The Whooooo
  14. Yes My Darling Daughter - Edie Gorme (This was always the last song I played when I were nobbut a DJ int Leeds)
  15. Rated R - Boo Yaa Tribe
  16. Summer of 69 - Bryan Adams
  17. If having expenses covered and actually making a profit counts, I've probably only done that about 3 times! That doesn't take account of time spent practicing, or strings, or other gear of course!
  18. My Charon(a) - The Knack
  19. Ferry across the Mersey - Gerry and his Pacemaker
  20. One Nation Under a Groove -Funkadelic
  21. Read it in Books - Echo and the Bunnymen (from when Echo was a drum machine!)
  22. Back in the late 80s we started off playing the Kings Head in Fulham. The deal there was we had to get 15 people in after which we'd get 1/3 of the door take... If we didn't get that many we'd have to cover PA costs of £25. Luckily we managed it every time we played there, sometimes only just! But that was the only place we played that had that sort of deal. Later, we played all the Mean Fiddler venues and the Rock Garden quite a few times and never had to pay, though we didn't make much...
  23. We have music at work from a large (1600+) playlist I've put together on Spotify. It plays through an early 90s Sansui amp I got off ebay for £20 and a pair of JBL control 1 speakers. The sound is excellent, it goes far louder than we need and it's been going for 12.5 years at 8 hours a day, 362 days per year without missing a beat. The JBLs are still made and Richer Sounds are doing 'em for £79...
  24. Rose Garden Funeral of Sores - Bauhaus
