  1. I bought a Parker PB51 cos it looks crazy! Plays well, mind and is comfy if you have it high...
  2. Here's Chilli's 1st time on tv in 1984.... Jack Sherman in guitar! They may have been perhaps a touch overwhelmed!
  3. Is there a word that goes beyond "wet" in terms of describing moistitude?
  4. Funnily enough, when I was a youth I used to watch Top Of The Pops every week in the hope that something more interesting than the usual chart fodder would come on... Hated at least 95% then, and still would now if I could be bothered! When you get to my age etc...
  5. Me too! And haven't seen Primus since stumbling across their gig at the Paradiso in Amsterdam in 1990, having gone there to see Urban Dance Squad at the Melkweg the night before. Proper trip out that was!
  6. It's funny, because I can't be dealing with Geddy's bass and vocals but love Primus! Hope he turns it into his usual slapfest... 😁
  7. Cheers! Booked as well for Manchester, including hotel and dogsitter!
  8. Odd, but groovy and soulful!
  9. Trevor Dunn of Mr Bungle is also a great unsung hero... Here's a bit of their latest "new" material, a Van Halen cover with Dave Lomardo on drums:
  10. 'Nother one... Amin Ali, son of drummer Rashid Ali. Proper groover, here keeping it funky with Calvin Weston while James Blood and George Adams go crazy...
  11. Here's a bit of jazzy groove with a soporific feel. Or not! Either way, it's inspired by Frank Bough eating daffs on Nationwide 😁 Tis a Lightwave fretless, Vienna sax and keys from AAS sounds. Drums programmed in EZ Drummer, with percussion made from Digicussion sounds. All mixed in Doblys, with a good spattering of Ozone 9.
  12. Here's one, Ryoji Orihara of the Ken Sato Experience. Their version of 20th Century Boy is also excellent!
  13. Choked are playing their next gig as part of the Ukraine benefit at Mid-Wales Pavilion, Llandrindod Wells, Powys on 2nd April. It's a 1.5 dayer (i.e. Friday 1st April evening, then all day Saturday 2nd April - we're on in the eve on the Saturday...
  14. Music that's popular, or has been in the charts, is not necessarily "good", as that's an entirely subjective opinion... I find most folks down the pub just want something simple and recognisable to shout along to, like Robbie's "Anal" (😁) or "Yer Sex is On Fire m8!"; if you start doing covers of Primus' "Frizzle Fry" album, or attempt ELP's version of "Pictures at an Exhibition" you'd definitely have some trouble with your average punter!
  15. Then there's the simple ones, like Shrewsbury, or scone - the varied pronunciations seem to depend on whether you're posh, northern or neither. Then it gets more complicated, Cholmondely in Cheshire, or Woolfardisworthy in Devon. Who knows why they're Chumley and Woolsery!
  16. I think it's possible to be relatively mainstream and still a bit interesting... Frinstance, the "rock" band could have made a hash of Bowie's "DJ". And the ""Reggae" lot could have butchered Dawn Penn's "You don't love me"...
  17. I'd have been far more impressed if some more interesting songs had been chosen for both bands...It's always so safe! And if they had to do "Angels" they could have used the lyrics from the extremely filthy version
  18. My favourite is Rubus Cockburnianus.
  19. Uplands Tavern in Uplands does an open mic, but that may be a Monday... They do have bands on - though if it's this Thursday it's St Patricks Day and there's "foot stompin' Appalachian music"... https://www.facebook.com/TheUplandsTavern
  20. There's quite a lot of difference between a humorous song and a song with humour in it... I tend to prefer the 2nd as the humour is part of the music, as opposed to the whole point of the song. Bootsy's music is always dribbling with little jokes!
  21. Always loved Monochrome Set's witty yet pertinent lyrics...
  22. Here's a chunk of what we call "The Birdy Song" (Two can play) at the most excellent Percy's in Whitchurch a couple of weeks ago:
  23. This album is currently on our shop's stereo...
