  1. Yes, I thought that as well you can see the capacitors in the photo! the VVT is much simpler not sure on the history of the plate that was in the bass! Tony
  2. Ooops, forgot about that section hooefully an admin will be along soon to move it! Tony
  3. Hi I got a new jazz a few weeks back, after several years of playing a jazz with VVT, the new bass had VT VT i noticed very low output from bridge pick up, compared to neck pickup and an overall more aggressive sound that what I was used to in my 64 CS jazz, to the point where I was thinking a p/up change might be needed so I opted for a new plate with VVT from KiOgos, which came yesterday! These look great, got the soldering iron out to disconnect the old plate and then two minutes to fit the new one 😎 what a difference!! Balanced output from both pickups and big change in sound, much smoother and more what I would expect from a jazz, more typical jazz sound! i know there people who are advocates of VT VT, but not for me, VVT all the way, it’s what I’m used too and the difference between the two was very obvious Tony
  4. This may have been done before, but couldn’t find a thread after searching “provenance” A few weeks back I bought a Sei bass off this forum, some of you probably saw it, it was made for Randy Hope Taylor! I owned another Sei around 10 years ago that was made for Paul turner! last week I saw a Gibson come up for sale that had really cool Provenance, having been owned by Glen Matlock and gigged with Sid vicious, before being moved on to Jonny Marr! So I got inspired to start this thread to see what other basses are owned by Bass Chat people, that have provenance of any kind Tony
  5. Currently enjoying Aguilar twin filter and MXR BEF working Well for me, the MXR has the edge when it comes to our and out dirty funk sound, wider range than the aguilar The Aguilar is so easy to dial in a good sound, very musical and usable in my opinion! Not got my boomstick bottom feeder back yet! and the valeton octave pedal I got a bout a month back is staying on my board, £35 well spent and sounds great into either of the filters! nice simple board at moment Tuner - valeton OC -10. - MXR BEF. - Aguilar twin filter. - Dunlop mini bass wah (the Little white one) Tony
  6. Sold a JAzz bass to Aidan Easy and pleasurable to deal with and good communication! Cheers Tony
  7. New one for me, strung with flats!

Some of you probably saw the Sei jazz that was built for Randy hope Taylor, up for sale recently! its now in my possession and very nice it is! As expected of a Sei, it’s a great bass, sounds and plays really like you would expect! Owned a good few Jazz basses in my time, but VT VT is a first for me, do prefer VVT, so that may be first upgrade!
  9. Yes, I went looking for it a few months back and couldn't find it, just found a thread on TB with the new site link It's an incredible amount of work this guy has done, since the mid 70's, when .pdf didn't exist T
  10. Hi Some of you may have already been aware of this transcription site It disappeared for a while, I think there was problem with free hosting, but it is now back up and running This has to be the most comprehensive collection of soul, blues and funk transcriptions on the interweb Donald Dunn, Tommy Cogbill, Dave hood and a load more. Practically everything artists like Otis Redding have ever recorded is transcribed! https://freebassparts-pv24.pagesperso-orange.fr/ Plenty to go at by some great players, all notation, no TAB Tony
  11. Two new basses in last few weeks, so GAS has been suppressed for a while, but still ....... 1. A fretless jazz bass, probably a sire, could spend more, but so much value for ££ 2. My old five string Sei from about 10 years back 3. G&L SB2, just curious about this one T
  12. It doesn’t exist without a photo!
  13. 200 posted possible trade for envelope filter up to 50% of value Tony
  14. I use the EBS ones, seem decent quality T
  15. Bought a sei bass off Dave, great communication, well packed couldn’t ask for more! Thanks Dave! Tony
  16. Source audio C4 plenty Of info about this in “effects” Great pedal, incredible sounds, easily edited Its a week old, I was about to buy another filter, then looked at the spectrum and ended up buying this. I’m probably too stuck in my ways to move to such Tech, more inclined to twiddle knobs and make my sounds that way post included in asking price photo later
  17. Hi Not had this long! I sold a Jazzbass, bought what I wanted and also bought this as I was wanting another Jazz But as always happens, something else came along that I had previousley had my eye on, before it got sold So putting this back up for sale at the same price I bought it Original ad' below 70's style jazz bass, 6 bolt neck, blocks and binding, Haeussel JB MM4 Pickups (very nice) comes with windmill gig bag The neck has a very modern feel to it, it being of a wide radius and it's been restrung with 40-100 and set up noce, action is low and it plays superb. The bass has been used and has a few knocks, but overall good condition (but with a little bit of mojo) The original thread gives some histroy og these basses, highly regarded at the time they came out with a four figure price tag Bass is now at the other end of the country, in MAnchester. I have original shipping box if needed Tony
  18. Somebody already said it wanted this last time it came up and now I’m skint! Tony
  19. Looking like it’s going to be a mid sixties, ford diamond blue, which is lighter than the VW niagra blue, just checking I got the code I need prior to ordering Was used on 60’s ford thunderbirds amongst others! Tony
  20. Diamond blue exists in the car industry as standard colours for a few of the big hitters, but with some variation My partner is going to help try match what codes we have with what I want as she isn’t colour blind. But it’s all relative I guess, what I see is what I see etc, just need a second opinion!
