I picked this up a few months back, purely out of curiosity! Need to move it on now in order to release some ££ for a little restoration job I have going on! Italia Maranello Z bass in light blue Here's the blurb! Built at the request of Nicky Wire from the Manic Street Preachers (he wanted something different for an acoustic gig they were doing and he turned to Italia to come up with the goods), the Maranello Z bass is the answer to every acoustic bass-player’s prayers. Pure acoustic tone from the Piezo bridge pickup can give you all the sonic warmth of a double bass, all the way through to amazing highs for funk and slap. The mahogany chambered body adds to the depth of the sound while also making the instrument lighter (easier on shoulders during those marathone gigs). There are two small dings on the back of the bass and it needs a battery cover which I should hopefully get hold of this week! No gig bag, but will be well packed for posting £200 These are £450 to £499 new No trades please Photos to follow!

Just found a new Warwick dealer in the UK, play away guitars! Have contacted them! Tony
-
I heard the same about Warwick from another UK retailer at weekend! Same story, in order to get a good discount you gotta buy a specified amount of stock, which no one is prepared to do in today's economic climate! They even referred to Warwick as niche basses, not sure about that, but there you go, that's how it is! Tony

The warwick stock in my local shop has almost disappeared! Like they sold what they had and never reordered! And they had a lot back in the day! Shame really, they have made some fine basses, I've probably owned around 15 over the years including stage 1, stage 2 and dolphin pro 1! Still want to try one of these! T

Thanks for the info, I can only tell you what I was told by someone who sold me my first Warwick back in the 1990's, a shop that is well established and well known! So if my retailer guy can get one in stock, I'll take a look at that! Other option is wait until my work takes me to Germany where I have already had a price of 1400 euro from! Tony
-
So has anyone else had a look at these! I couldnt find anyone stocking these in the UK, so I emailed warwick and they told me they werent available in the UK! I should buy direct from them!! So i called a retailer friend of mine, he said warwick had made it impossible to be a dealer by insisting that dealers all carried pretty much one of everything, including the very pricey sig' models! He said they had effectively screwed themselves in the UK and he works for one of the bigger shops out there! So that aside, anyone tried one? From what I have heard and read, the pro series basses are nice and they look good too! Tony

Just back from a few weeks wandering round various South American countries, now need a cab, or two Aguilar DB410 looks favourite, guitar guitar have them at £799 in black, a funky white cabs on eBay, what is it with the different colours? I'm a traditionalist so it will need to be black, could be tempted with the 2 2x12's for sale on here right now if they were black If anyone has a DB 410 for sale let me know! T
-
Thats what Im going to do, I know PMT in manchester have ampeg, ashdown, not sure what else, may have to tarvel to try the Aguilar Tony
-
Yeah, thats an option, but they are big cabs, very deep! I just want to see what else is out there! I'm in South america right now and will get some demo time in when I get back! T
Dude! i swapped from an SVT 410HLF to the Matamp cab i had off you and the Matamp is miles better in every deptartment.
Yes, it is for sure, but I decided to go a different route, 6x10 and maybe it wasnt such a good idea for a number of reasons! Tony
-
That's nice, really nice! You should give me a shout should you ever decide to move that on! Tony
-
At the moment, I am using an ashdown jj500 which was bought as a back up for my matamp when outon the road, but has proved itself in its own right! I looked at amped and saw there were a few different cabs in the range Using GAK for linkns for no other reason than convenience! Ampeg PF 410HLF 4x10 Cab http://www.gak.co.uk/en/ampeg-pf-410hlf-4x10-cab/59947 Ampeg B 410HLF http://www.gak.co.uk/en/ampeg-b-410hlf/683 Ampeg SVT 410HLF http://www.gak.co.uk/en/ampeg-svt-410hlf/684 Ampeg Pro Neo PN-410HLF http://www.gak.co.uk/en/ampeg-svt-410hlf/684 The pro series neo would do the job but carries a hefty price tag, the Ampeg PF 410HLF 4x10 Cab may be an option, looks cool too! The ashdown classic mentioned earlier is whole different beast to previous cabs Ashdown CL-410H http://www.gak.co.uk/en/ashdown-cl-410h/47906 Not really into mark bass, been there prefer a more traditional looking cab also! Next links from the gallery Aguilar GS410 http://www.thebassgallery.com/product_details.cfm?ID=1518&type=Bass%20Cabinet Aguilar DB410 http://www.thebassgallery.com/product_details.cfm?ID=202&type=Bass%20Cabinet Neo would be nice, not getting any younger !!!

What's the difference between Aguilar DB and GS? Ashdown classic neo cabs sound like a possibility, British made with eminence drivers. Red grill looks good! T
-
I've always had 4x10's, moved to a 6x10, now back on a 4x10! I have a 4x10 now on loan whilst I find something! Been having a look round, two different Aguilar cabs, ashdown classic (neo! And made in uk) ampeg! I have always had two, and probably will do this time! Any comments on any of the above I have mentioned? Tony
I'm not sure Yolanda's bass is really 'for sale' - it's just listed at a silly price just in case someone with more money than sense comes along The problem I have with a YOB bass is that I'd need a late '59 and I'm very much a J player than a P. To the best of my knowledge there was only one prototype J ever built in '59 & that's the famous Herbie Flowers Lake Placid Blue one I do, however, own a very nice replica of Herbie's bass and have just picked up a '65J in LPB as well. The '65 is nice but my Sea Foam Green '63 is nicer so not sure how long I'll keep the '65.
That is the impression I got when Imspoke to Martin at the Gallery! Pictures of the 65 J are needed at this point! Tony
-
Any 1965 bass is always gonna be a lot of ££, but that one is probably 2k over what Inhave seen them at, I was told she ain't 100% on selling it! I bought a bass guitar mag this week and she is playing it in an advert in the mag! Tony
-
I should have said over 35 only as after that it ain't as interesting! I'm on the look out for a nice jazz bass and stumbled across a bass for sale in The Gallery, it's Yolanda Charles' sonic blue '65 jazz, it's had a refinish and it's the year I was born, sonic blue is my favourite colour as well, but a serious amount of £££ Anyone done it, the post 40 indulgence that is owning a bass from your birth year! Tony ( from somewhere in Argentina! )
