Played a gig last night, didn't use my backline, used the bass rig of the next band it was a 4x10 with a fender baseman head. Got loads of comments about my bass sound! All were very good, the key ones being "that is the sound for this band" the rig lacked headroom as we are loud, butit did growl! I use an ebs td650, known for it's high end, accurate sound, so maybe it's time to change! I was already thinking of aggie db750, will that do it? Maybe stay with ebs and go for a fafner? Recomendations please!!! Tony

The guitarist in my band has a couple of bass cabs for sale, they were used by the previous bass player, i have used them and they sound good and are in perfect working order The VX 4x10 is in good nick The VX 8x10 has a few minor knocks, I used this a few times with my EBS head and it sounded great, I could have used it full time but prefer the portability of 2 4x10's prices as follows 8x10 - £300 4x10 - £250 These are guide prices, not usre what these are going for and he is open to offers as he needs to get rid Collection from Manchester Tony

Toasted is spot on, the price is a used Stage 1 makes these basses a great buy, I always liked the neck thru warwick necks over the bolt ons and the stage 1 for me has it all, great neck, nice balance and a great sound, plus they look great Slightly more quirky is a neck thru dolphin, I had a five string, look at the price of these new, you can pick them up for less than 1K, they cut thru like no other bass i've owned. I love warwicks would have a stage 1 tomorrow, but it doesn't fit with what I'm doing right now and there is still some "relevant GAS" to be sorted T

The World’s First Fretted / Fretless String Instrument
sshorepunk replied to beerdragon's topic in Bass Guitars
Great idea, but too many moving bits for me, i swap between fretless and fretted jazzes during a gig, that works well, i like things simple, less things to go wrong and drop you in the sh*t Tony -
Any news on these, i just spotted them today and the lined fretless looks ideal for an acoustic thing my band are doing? Tony

I sold one of these last year, thought I'd be on the five string tip for a while, but its back to 4's with the band I'm in now, so kind of regretting it! Like you, I have also been on the lookout for a sterling, but like RHS! Might save up and get me a classic sterling in blue, but maybe a bit too pricey right now! Been playing my sterling all night cos I cant be bothered to get my CS jazz out of its case lol This is a great looking bass! T

Intresting rehersal last night, we got some acoustic gigs coming up, so started to work on that set. Instead of my regular practice rig (TD650 + one of my 4x10's) I played through a tiny Mark Bass combo, I'm only playing fretless on this set and was very impressed with the tone it gave my fretless. I tweaked the VPF and it sounded great. My EBS rig is fantastic sounding with my fretted basses and does a great job with my fretless, but the MB VPF added a nice touch. I see they now do it in pedal form, has anyone tried it and are there any other similar filters out there? Cheers Tony

Like the roscoe! I dropped my TD 650 to the bottom of a 4U rack and got a vented plate to fit above it. The 1U space is great for the power lead, 2 speakon cables and two coiled leads! Tony
