1. I never bothered with precisions for years! My first bass back in 1979 (I think?) was an unbranded sunburst P bass, I then moved onto a '72 Tele' bass (bought from the bass player from a local band, The Salford Jets!) Then, my band, did a few gigs with Aziz Ibrahim, he wrote a few tunes with Ian Brown and when he does a "guest" spot with us, we sometimes do either My Star or Corpses. My Star is played on detuned bass and a P bass gets the right sound, so I got a Jap' P'bass off our guitarist for the job. Sounds great, although it does need a set up now, I kind of put up with it for a while (guitarists don't seem to wanna get basses set up to play good lol) but I love the sound of it and it's time to get it sorted (It's photoflame as well, not my bag really!). I will, at some point et one for myself, not gonna spend a lot of money, so will be a Jap or a Lakland Dunn (really like them!) The jazz does remain my daily grind though! 2. Bit of a clearout 3 mtr USB - midi cable, forgot the make, just know it lights up at the ends when active, cost me £35 and used once - £25 posted Pro Tools - secrets of the pro's, 3 DVD set from 2006, uses one of the later version 6's but 95% is applicable to later releases as pro tools upgrades are mostly additions as opposed to changnes to what already works , great for mastering the basics and some serious indepth editing, mixing etc - £25 posted 4 string bridge, not sure of make, like a small music man style bridge - £12 posted 2 x phono female to female xlr connectors, I used these to run phono out from two xlr outputs on a desk I had a while back - £8 posted Marcus Miller Silver Rain CD, still sealed! - £6 posted RHCP - Me and my friends book, great pics from Tony woiliscroft (I photograph bands and like to check out what other people are up to and somehow ended up with two of these) - £8 posted
3. Coincidence! Iwas listening to dead weather in work this mornin and texted the guitarist in my band saying I should get a white falcon ! No chnace for me though, too much $$ Tony
4.
Okay, I'll moan then. He was a lazy git Sshorepunk - if I was you I'd brave the leap to an unlined fretless. It's not as hard as it may seem.
I know, I've owned a few. but can't be arsed putting the extra effort into it right now, too much involved in writing, recording and all the other stuff that goes with a busy band, suits me sir and it sounds th same, maybe it dont look as cool, but who cares But thanks for the advice I may get a cheap unlined just to play with Tony
5. I'm with the Beedster on this I play fretted 90% of the time with my band, one track is fretless and it really changes the feel of the track, but I have had occasion where it's been very difficult to play due to the on stage sound. I really do prefer to have my own rig, if we get booked for a gig and we are told we are using someone elses back line (doesn't happen very often, I am one of those pissed off bassists whose always getting asked for the use of his rig) I will consider, depending on what I'm hearing, playing the track on fretted! I'm going to be recording the track on fretless soon, that should be intrersting! I play lines BTW, just dont spend enough time practising to give myself the confidence to move to a plain fretboard, but I'm happy with what I got and what I do, regardless of what the "Don't do lines" brigade say :-) Tony
6. The case on my TD 650 vibrates as well, took it out of the rack a few weeks back and checked everything was tight, found a few loose screws but it still vibrates a bit. Thats using 1 or 2 4x10 neolines which is shifting a fair amount of air :-) Tony
7. If such a thin fell my way, then yes, but unlikley as this is now... SOLD PENDING PAYMENT Tony
8. Would trade for a US deluxe jazz, 4 string! Tony

Sonuus b2m

Bill Dickens demo at NAMM, he's playing a lot of notes outside of a regular 4 strings range, so I guess this would help with the tracking! NAMM Demo
10. Muzz, ask napper to give Tony a ring about the paint job! Tony
11. Don't make me angry, you won't like me when I'm angry
12. I suspect an unlined neck is able to be lined? I guess it's just the same as fretting a neck, tell me if I'm wrong! If you can find someone to do ti, you could pick the colour of the infills, which is cool, as i would go for something a bit less bright than most fretless' have. I once had a status with brown lines and it looked great! Status is another option, about £350, that would be my neck of choice! Tony
13. classic fender colours, sonic blue, off white and sea foam green, all with tort plate. Sea foam green looks great on my CS jazz Tony
14. End of an era for that that particular part of town, apart from JR, I used to spend saturday afternoons in the late 70's mooching round the likes of A1, as I'm sure many of Manchesters musicians have done! Napper has been a good mate for a long time, always called in for a chat, but I know he's gonna be doing other stuff now :-) Tony
15. I know many poeple don't hold Music Ground and the associated business' in high regard, but I thought I would pass on some info regarding the Manchester shop ...it's closed! Yesterday, they were clearing the stock out! For those who didn't know the shop, it was run by Napper, a little ginger haired geezer, well known round these parts, having been involved in music retail in manchester for many years! Tony
16.
I have the Wild wood song book, which has the music and chords, all notation. Not sure how accurate the bass notation is on it though, with it being arranged for piano. PM if this is of any use to you. Kets
That would be great, can easily work it out from that! Can you scan? Tony
17. Missed out on a brand new samson bassline today (ggrrrr) liked the idea of this for swapping basses! So what else is there that is easy to change over basses without swapping straps during a set! and sounds good and is reliable! Searched through several threads, but ain't too familiar with a lot of the wireless gear that is available! Cheers Tony
18. anyone got a TAB for this, even better is notation! Tony
19. Nice set up, I played the 5 string GB at Bass Day, real nice, nearly went for it, but ££, or lack of it put a stop to it! I always look twice at this thread, being a "Shep" also lol If you want a fretless, I know where there is a G&L Tony (Shep)
