Second coming is a guitar hero album for sure, but JS's playing is good and very listenable Tony

Breaking into Heaven off the SR's Sec0nd Coming album, great track IMHO (but then I am a Manc') Nice bass line too, anyone got a TAB or notation for this? Notation is king for me Tony

I was in NY about 3 years ago, walked past BB kings club on 42nd and saw they were playing that night, got me a ticket for the 10 o'clock show Cool as f***, seeing TOP at BB Kings in NY City Tony

It went to me, then off to a guy in London via this forum, Damon42 or somthing like that, a MK fan with a few GB's if I remember rightly. I played this for a while, gigged it a few times, but was moving more toward an extra strings at the time Not many neck thru spitfires around? Wouldn't mind another GB spitfire, but would prefer something more solid colour than the exquisite stained wood finishes Bernie produces! Someone was selling a white bass for a while (Ian I think?) should have had that when it was available (kicks self hard) anyone know where that is now? Tony

@ flyfisher I've tried many sound cards with various input options, ended up with a control surface combined with an audio interface, the Digi 002, running pro tools LE8. I much prefer this set up, plug it in and off ya go, works outside of pro tools in standalone mode too I was a cubase user, and have nothing bad to say about it, but when it came to using a control surface with software, pro tools seemed to have the edge. Pro tools LE systems are built to work with hard ware so they do the job well (not suggesting other DAW software doesn't though) You can pick a used Digi 002 up for between £400 and £500 as the current model is the 003 Tony Hope that helps

This is a five string G&L lined fretless, finished in translucent green Just had a new set of strings and a pro set up Comes with G&L hard case and is in great condition Worth mentioning is that this is a 34" scale bass and it has a real nice B string This is the US version BTW Looking to trade for a similar lined fretless 4 string, musicman stingray etc, lines only, no front dots (I know I am being very specific here, hence this being a feeler type of post) If something comes up that isn't going to work with a trade I would be looking for £650, but need to have something else lined up before a cash sale as I play fretless on at least one track live Pics to follow Tony

JK put together a comp' album called late night tales ( a few artists have done this one) it is said to be made up of some of his influences, that may be a good place to start Tony

Galliano have moved therer sond around a bit. The era around Twyford down was cool! Acid jazz used to do compiliation albums, I've ot a few somewhere, a good rane of sounds from funk, UK acid jazz, latin etc, I bought albums by several artists on the strength of what I heard on those CD's Also try Mr Exe, Count basic, Seven Eleven (with bootsy clone, Dodge), Roy ayres, Groove collective, Quantic soul, there's more, but most seem to appear on compilation albums, if you know where to look, you can find some serious funk. I rely on one of my mates for this particular genre! Freakpower kind of had that sound around the tune in period, check out the album. Mother Earth, great band, saw them live once, check out the poeple tree! Tony

Yeah, I know what you're sayin! The white p/up covers make it happen as well! I checked a few years back, and as far as I know, you can't get your hands on these covers in white, maybe thats changed now? Tony

I have an L2500, but it's fretless, so maybe not the best to compare against a 'ray Will say this though, lots of tone options and a really good B string for a 34" scale bass I have no experience of the tributes, but I'd look out for a second hand US L2500, they can be had for around £600 - £700! Re: price of a refin! I got a quote from the tech who works in PMT at Salford and it was £200 Another quote from http://paulcuthbertguitars.co.uk/ and that was around the £150 mark The guy who is doing mine is less, but then he doesn't do it full time, but good at what he does @waynepunkdude - yes, I agree :-) Tony
-
Thx for the advice! The thread was intended for colour opinions! I wouldn't refinish a bad bass and wouldn't chuck a high amount of $$ at a bass when I could buy one for less, been doing the bass thing for too long ;-) Torn between powder blu and bttercream style off white, both with a tort' plate! It should go in next week, I'll do the usual beofre and after stuff Tony

Nice colour! It all adds up right, I got a good refinisher contact and the price is right, making it cost effective, so that side of it is fine, I saw some of his work tonight as he has done a fair bit for the guitarist in my band. This guy is good from what I've seen, but he does it more as a passtime as his regular job involves spraying and keeps him way too busy to do this sort of thing full time, apparently he really enjoys doing guitars! The finished price is gonna come in less than the average ebay price and I'll be getting a similar colour to the new EB classic basses! Just gotta make a decision on the colour Tony
