I bought these very recently, didn't check the size of the p/ups they were replacing then found out these don't fit! These look brand new, but are used Dual coil p/ups, made by Nordstrand, very highly rated and around £260 / pair From Nordstrand... This is a modern design dual coil humbucking pickup. Pickups like these are usually found on very high end basses. They use Alnico V magnets and the traditional bi-pole layout with two poles per string. It's almost like two Jazz Bass® style pickups in one cover. These pickups are available in two different versions. One set is designed to be wired in parallel, and the other in series. The reason we do this is that a pickup that is made to sound good wired parallel will usually be too hot and dark sounding if wires in series. So, we put less wire on a series dual coil than a parallel dual coil. In general, a pickup wired in series will have a fuller and fatter midrange with a subdued high end than a pickup wired in parallel, which will typically have more highs and a deeper low end with a cleaner midrange. Series pickups also have more output than parallel pickups. Parallel pickups are generally a better choice for a split-able installation, as there will not be the gain loss associated with series pickups. These pickups are available only in black plastic covers with exposed pole pieces. These are a direct replacement for Bartolini BC, P2, P4 soapbar size pickups, and are also available for EMG 35/40/45 sized pickups. Will update with sizes soon Be quick cos I may use these in a project bass £130 posted Tony

Just took this out of my Sei It's a Bartolini 3 band pre on a Jazz plate It's not hard wired to anything so could easily be fitted into another bass without the plate The pot layout is as follows, Volume, blend, Mid, stacked bass and treble The volume pot is push/pull for the LED's on my sei and there are two coil selector switches. One for each pick up and 3 way for each coil and both together The grey cable you can see in the photo's is for the jack, the power cables are easily seen, pick ups connect to the switches, but these could be removed and p/ups wired direct to the pre, I'm not sure about the wiring on the switches, but I suspect the details are out there on the www In the photo's, the plate looks a bit crap, this is just off my fingers, it's in good looking order and the pre amp was working fine without any issues prior to be removed from the bass £50 posted ?

Started work on this last night! First big probelm, the p/ups don't fit. I knew the Nordys were listed on the site as direct replacements for Bart humbuckers, I should have double checked the sizes, but didn't, anyway, they dont fit, they are too narrow and the mounting holes are in the wrong place. Not too concerned right now, just gonna leave the barts in and fit the J-retro Removed the old pre amp last night, had to desolder the jack socket in order to fit it, couldn't get all the wires thru the channle to the jack, so ended up enlarging it. eventua;lly got everything thru and soldered the jack back on. Thats were it finished last night, so shpould have it done tonight. The barts are going in, in series and the wires are set up now ready to into the terminas on the J-rtro I may revisit one of the joints on the jack tonight, I wasn't 100% happy last night, my sodler wasn't playing ball, some new solder today should sort it Hopefully all done tonight Anyone up for a pair of Nordstrand dual coils? My white Sei is currently undergoing surgery so, I did the full rehersal last night on the Pedulla, sounded great, I did have a few precisions with me last night (one is detuned, hence the "few") but only used them for the tracks we are doing with a guy from the Roses. Great sound, it really cut through! T

I had to wait a while for this one to turn up, glad it did though! Currently played on one track in my bands set, but that could change to 3 tonight, depending on how rehersal goes. I got one of the lines down for a new track on fretless and it's gonna go in right at the start of the set (no 2), so no time to change basses, so the first track of the set will be having it as well T

Prompted by a thread in a the for sale section, I think we need a Pedulla thread in the pron section as things things are incredibly sexy, and mighty fine basses too! Mine is a 5 string Pentabuz, bart p/ups, had the laquer removed from the neck so it's down to the bare ebony as there was a lot of wear in it I thought I had a photo of mine on this laptop, but I was wrong, gonna have to use a shot of it in action for now! Gotta go back to circa 1979 to start this! FAL 100w PA amp, covered in red vinyl! I got me a 15" celestion speaker and made a cab out of plywood with my dad. About 6 months later, I cut it down in size, so just big enough for the speaker in wodth and a bit taller. The bought an empty 15" ported cab, into which went the 15" celestion, I then found an identical cab, so then had me two 15" ported cabs. Think I then got a Tour bass amp from Chase in manchester, the departure of the 15" cabs followed and in came a 4x12, made by leach (salford company) I then, through the $$ I earn't giging, bought one of the early 7 band Trace elliot heads. Had a break from playing for a few years! Back with TE, a combo I think? Then came an ashdown ABM ??, then a chrome rack version of the same, had me an ashdown 4x10. The EBS 4x10, out went the ashdown, in came EBS HD350. The had a Fafner, then onto TD650. Not gigging much so changed 4x10 for EBS Neo 2x12 and eventually the TD650 went in favour of Markbass LMII Missed the TD650, so at first chance got another As I'm gigging a fair bit, swapped Neo 2x12 for EBS proline 4x10 My band can be loud, so had 2 4x10'a Then found neo 4x10, so sold a proline 4x10. Just sold last proline 4x10 so gonna treat myself to another Neo 4x10, cos I'm worth it T

I just sold my EBS 4x10 this morning and only down the M62 in manchester! T

Yes, they are a good pre, plenty of users on here agree, I also had one fitted in a Modulus Jazz a few years back! I've got a rehersal on Thursday and a gig on Tuesday, so plenty of time to get this done, always got the fretless Pedulla (which I can play the full set on) and a couple of 4 string P basses as back up T

Gonna start this now, the next week will see a big change being made to my 5 string Sei Jazz It's currently running a pair of Bart' soap bars through a Bart' pre amp. The pre is 3 band with 2, 3 way switches for coil selection . Into it I am putting, a pair of Nordstrand Humbuckers and an East pre, with a switch added for the side neck LED's. No coil selection switches, no series / par' switches. The p/ups are going in, wired in series. I'll upload a picture of the bass, pre overhaul, later today Tony

I'm not getting as much time as I would like with rehersals and stuff, to trey this out, but had a jam with the filters last night, Tron up works well, needs a volume pedal on it though T

I know poeple from both camps, spoke to someone last night who knows the PW side and he's gonna have a snoop, the guy I know from the BF side is on the road right now I think, will check if he's in the UK and make a call some time today Bit of a shame if the tour doesn't happen though, I do know they are not getting as good a responce as when they first went out as FTJ, but it was biggish news first time round and this is third time out. Whenever I see them they always pack the venues T -
A little bit of tweaking brought the dirt / distortions into play, the standard settings were a bit weak! T

From the Jam are touring soon! I also grew up listening to Bruce, now I have the pleasure of photographing the band when ever I want, all the other snappers get 3 songs, I get full set. How cool is that, sat a few feet away from one the geezers who you grew up listening too! I also get ther same privelage with SLF, another of my fave bands from back in the day, still are Bruce still sounds great, great player and a great P bass sound through his Marshall stack! Tony -
