1. Ended up listening to some Gary Numan tonight, some nice fretless playing on certain tracks, I'm 95% sure the bassist is Paul Gardiner or Mick Karn? Can someone tell me if I'm right or wrong, were there others? Cheers Tony
2. Apologies for being slow getting back too poeple and getting pic up, wanted to wait until the pirst person who PM'd got back to me! Now Sold Thx Tony
3. I had it apart last night and a gut shot wouldn't be much use cos all the wiring is yellow, think a pile of yellow spaghetti I will take the time at some point to work out how it's wired and draw it out yeah, the middle switches are non latching, or momentary, but that is selectable by using the switches above them so it can be used as a regular 3 channel loooper T
4. When I posted details of my pedals in the big pedal board post, I got asked about this I bought it off this forum a few months back and is probably one of the best non tone changing pedals I've ever bought 3 channel with tuner mute, channels 1 & 2 have selectable momentary switches
5. Great bass, left me feeling weak, good luck with this, would like to trade up from my ibanez musician but the ££ is too much right now Tony
6. Tone Factor 442 - The green one, envelope filter modelled on the classic Dod 440 (I think?) £55 posted 9v power bank - as new Pics later Tony
7. Hi Just got back from germany, so back on with this I have had one person say they want it, but haven't got back to me since I went away? Tony
8. Had some interst in this, nothing solid though, priced at £65 posted with power supply Will post pics later Tony
9. I've always enjoyed what the Police and Sting (solo) have turned out, I think Copeland is a great drummer Saw them in Manchester on their comeback tour, one of the worst gigs I've ever been too (and I've been to a lot!) even worse considering the ticket price! They were one of the few bands on my "always wanted to see" list. Probably worth adding, Stuart Copeland was the best part of seeing them live, Andy Summers was terrible, sound, timing, not good! I will always listen to them though! Tony

Meatball

Had a good play with the Meat ball! If you want an easy to use filter, look elsewhere, spend some time with it though and it all becomes much clearer, it does need time!! Currently set as follows... Filter UP 1/2 trigger The pots are scaled 1 - 10 sens - 4 attack - 0 Decay - 6 colour - 7 Intens - 7.5 Blend - 7.5 filter - next stop up from low and the pot with the squiglly lines on is far right colour and blend are key, sens works well for controlling the filter opening, set low produces some great sub bass, room shaking tones Happy days Tony
11. But, they will sell a shed load of albums, make even more money, they probably enjoy what they do and don't give a toss what anyone else thinks, cos they can! Not a defence of the band, just how I see it T
12. I thought the ashdown filter was a very poor pedal! I tried it for around 20 ,minutes a few years back when they first came out, wanted it to be good cos it looked cool. There are better filters out there for not much more $$ T
13. Had a few, still got a few! EBS Bass IQ - sounds good, but not the most versatile MF 101 - OK filter, had two, always thought I could get it to work better, but it just lacked something, needs to be in a Loooper too as it sucks tone, worth a punt though Q-tron - always too loud, needs a buffered loop or something, there are a lot better out there FX25B - odd one this, you gotta try one, it can be a bit extreme, good for quick envelope style bursts I find, as opposed to full on filtered grooves Original Mutron - One of the best, but not the most versatile, it doen't need to be though! Loads of $$ Re-issue Mutron - Not bad pedal, poeple write it off cos its the re issue, better than a q tron, worth a try Meatball - nice filter, mucho versatility, same applies to the clones that are around such as the previously mentioned meatwad, loads of ££ Got a 442 coming, had one before, not recent though, so will add that once it's been played Filters are meant to be played, not just made to go quack, I find they make my playing a lot more dynamic as I tease the filter to open itself up and swallow me whole T
14. I like wah Yeah, I did get rid of the BT, but it's a nice synthy fuzz, so it's coming back in! Momentray switching is great, like dancing on ya looper, yes i did get it off here a few month back OK, I need more dirt, the BT is an almost synthy fuzz, can get messy, but it does the synthy fuzz better me thinks, Have been tempted by the odd Big Muff T
15. I need to post some pics of my board, but gonna tell you about it first! It's carpet based for now, too many changes going on Mission Control is a 3 channel loooper pedal, been a bit of a revelation getting this cos it ain't a standard looper in that two of the channels have switchable "momentary" foot switches which make for some interesting bursts of effect! So here's how it's put together, including some pedals that are yet to arrive TU2 in the Tuner mute hole! Channel 1 - MXR Blowtorch - Digitech bass synth wah - Boss CEB 3 - TF 442 Channel 2 - Dod FX25B Channel 3 - EBS wah, LoveTone meatball Ch1 does most of the work, the Blowtorch is to arrive soon, but had one before and know what it can do, The BSW was bought for octave usage, but has been something of a suprise as a synth when combined with the meat ball and wah, it sounds great, especially with my fretless. The BSW also gets used with the momentary foot switch on Ch 1 for some interesting short synthy swells on random notes, if you get what I mean! The chorous is there to add some colour to the fretless, just a touch, don't want to go all 80's! And the 442 is there cos I really like EF's Ch2 is always in momentary foot switch mode with the FX25B, think short sqelchy bursts, Dougalow style and you'll see where I'm coming from. The FX25B ain't the best filter out there, but used in this context it's ideal especially cos they are cheap as chips Ch3 is the luxury channel, this is where the big boys hang out, EBS wah and Lovetone meatball, both are excellent effects in their own right, but also manage to turn effects like the BSW into something special. This channel is a regular loop. 9 pedals in total, including the Loooper, capable of making a range of noises from sqelchy synthy funk to clean OD, maybe it needs some real messy distortion in there? Photos to follow and I'll get some recordings up very soon Tony
16.
I'm very tempted by this, which sounds quite ring mod-ish on some settings, but does other anti-social noises too.
Theres a few other interesting items on that site as well T
17. For sale is an EH bass synth, bought this a few weeks back and I found it's just being used as a distortion pedal due to the other effects I have that are capable of making synth like noises! When I got this, I figured I had paid too much for it due to the condition it was in when I received it, it has been well used and I couldn't be bothered going back and forth with the seller over it, after all it does work but cosmetically it's not in the best shape. The top of the unit is very scratched, two of the slider sticks have snapped off, but the sliders are still easily used and there is no adverse effect on funcionality, and two of the white caps are missing. On the positive side, the on/off switch has got broke at some point and has been replaced with a more sturdy switch. It cost me £70, then I went and spent £20 on a PSU, so make me an offer based on that. will; also trade for a Blowtorch Pics to follow Tony
18. I figured this post would get some responce, over 15 replies in just over an hour! I got the impression they were being marketted towards young players, beginners etc
19. That looks nice, should be killer with that p/up - pre combo. What colour is that body, I know it's a white, but which one? I got me a buttercream ray and an off white sei, but I avoid white socks T
It's all about the "blend" control, Tony
Yes, it is, getting it dialled now, it's sooo playable, makes you wanna explore dynamics more than ever My new board is killer and this is the icing on the cake Tony
21. Some of you may have seen this, there is a short article in the US bass mag and it was at NAMM apparently. A google search for flea bass is still showing mainly Modulus links, so not that much info around. http://www.fleabass.com/ Some bright colours in there and a bold statement with "If they don't play great, they're not going to the stores. we'll set every one up and make sure it's perfect" Even got a 30" scale model for small poeple! Tony
