I have for sale, a Fender CIJ, '75 reissue jazz bass It's natural with rose wood board and block inlays The bass is around 10 years old (I did do a search on the serial number, but lost the info) The bass is in OK condition, it shows signs of use around the edges where it has been knocked. The worse place is just under the controls. I wasn't too bothered about the knocks, it's beginning to get it's own "mojo" going on, maybe in another 10 years it will be there! I will restring this with a set of 40-100 elites, check the wiring under the plate etc, it comes with a cheap hard, shaped case, that does the job I'm thinking offers around the £350 mark Photo's later Cheers Tony

Was watching that too, would have had a punt if I had not already decided to play with my pre and p/ups! Which GK pick up are you going to try, I'm sure ther are 2 versions, the earlier GK-2B and the newer GK-3B, I'm sure the numbers are right, no doubt Ped will provide more info! Tony

Hi I'm going to have a chnage in my Se Jazz, currently running Bartolini soapbars and Bart' 3band pre amp. Both p/ups have cil taps Thinking about going for a mix of J-retro as I really like these pre's and thats based on previous experience. Thinking about going Nordstrand for p/ups. Fat stacks look like they will do the job, what various web sites have to say about them sounds like they will work for me. Modern sounding but with a coil tap giving a more old skool sound if needed. But then there are the The Big Splits, they may also do the job, I'm inclined to go with fat stacks but figured I'd ask on here first So anyone experienced any of these p/ups? Cheers Tony

I would have a TD650 again, tomorrow if one turned up. I changed mine for a Little Mark II for the added portability, but I'd rather carry the extra weight to have the sound of a TD650. I hd a Fafner also, but I thought the TD650 was a bit more versatile, Fafner is nice though T

Got told that there is a Rloand demo model in PMT in Salford, not set up yet though Did anyone mention the addition of midi! Pitch to Voltage convertor now included!! T
As people always say, it's in the hands. Jazz though; now, that's a bass I've never seen him playing.
He does use another bass on tour, I forgot which tracks, possibly Start, can't remember the bass though, I have pictures somewhere, I need to dig them out as I'm sure the maker of this bass wanted some! Someone may know what it is? I'll e-mail the guys and ask today I had a good listen to the new DVD at weekend, once I'd stopped staring at the booklet that contains my photo's! It's well worth checking out, the guys are really on top form. A bit of additional info, if any of you have seen Bernie Goodfellow at any shows recently, he has a guy with him with longish black hair, that's Bruces tech! T

Bruce in action..... This is the shot Bruce signed for me and Ali with SLF
-
I only saw SLF once with Bruce, that was in '96 when the Sex Pistols played Finsbury park, probably one of the best gigs I've ever been too! Seen SLF a few times recently, great band, good to see Ali back with the guys. I grew up listening to SLF, The Jam and a whole load of punk / new wave bands, SLF were probably one of my favourites, so you can imagine how cool it was to be invited to photograph the band and, at the last gig I went to, meet the band and take some promo shots for next years tour! Bruce signed one of my photos last year, it now takes pride of place on the wall in my music room, I get to shoot a lot of bands, but don't do the signing photo thing very often! Tony
Will you be at Norwich Tony? If so, come and find me after and we'll have a pint. Also, we are after someone to do some photographs during our set. PM me if interested. Cheers, Jamie.
Unfortunately that will be one of the gigs I wont be at, probably Liverpool, Leeds, Birmungham and Hammersmith! Tony

Celebrity Gear - once used by the famous

My Fender Tele bass i bought around 1980 was from the bass player from the SAlford Jets, if you're over 40 and live in Manchester you may remeber them or their loud mouthed singer, Mr Sweeny I bought an EBS head off Frankie Felix who gets around a bit and my Sei 5 string was made for Payl Turner I played John Entwistles C bass after it was bought at auction! I just got a copy of the new FTJ DVD, a First Class Return. Well worth a listen, I got to see the band on a good few dates last year and as a result, the booklet accompanying the new DVD is full of my photos (not all mine, but a good selection are) Photos aside, I enjoyed every gig I went to and will be around at a few of this years dates, not sure which yet, at least 3, maybe 4 The DVD is well worth a punt though! ... check out the photos too ;-) Tony

Hi I photographed the Paul Gilbert (ex Mr Big etc etc) gig in Manchester last night, great bass player, Craig Martini, anyone ever heard of him before? He was on it with Mr Gilbert, playing insane runs note for note with the ex Mr Big guy! This sort of gig ain't normally my bag, but enjoyed it, probably due to some great bass playing, plus, PG is a thenominal guitarist! Tony
