Jake, give me a shout next time you are in Manchester Tony

I don't know the name? Spent some time jamming along to some tunes I do with a guitarist, chilli peppers, audioslave etc, sounded better towrds the end of the evening, once my hands got used to the spacing. Spoke to the guitarist I play with today (he works with me) and we talked about getting a few of the songs down with a bit of a swing, then maybe doing a few open mike and jam nights. Most are origanils, but Scar tissue looks like it will work well, the line swings anyway. Also looked at putting a walking line into one of our own tunes, maybe just chnage the middle 8. Even after a fe whours playing, it changes the way you think about stuff Tony

I need to hear the rest of the story Anyone know of any uprught bass tutors in the Manchester area? Tony

this good!!! OK, I've been playing bass for 30 years, I started when I was 2 I've owned just about every make out there in every possible form, from 4 to 7 strings, with and without frets But I ain't enjoyed myself as much for a long time as I have in the last hour, jamming along to some of my fave tunes on a NS wav that arrived today! Yep, sopme of the playing is out of tune and the fact I have a chunk of flesh missing from my right hand index finger doesn't exactly help, but still able to play! I've been reading this section for a while, lurking in the background, some good sound advice being dished out, the first bit of advice I'm going to take is is lessons, I may have been at it for a while, even learnt on DB when I was at school (aged 2 ) but still think it will pay in the long run. The bass came from a guy on e-bay, took a chance has he only had low feedback, got a BIN price off him that was about £100 more than a Stagg. It's black BTW Tony

It is very white! For info, I'm sure most know this, but the T Bass was made by Status for Trace Elliot and is now back in production with a graphite neck version from Status! Electronics are Status 2 band. Check out the images below There are a few marks, the ones on the back are shown with the strange arrows, the one on the front is above the bridge and can be seen in photo 2, there are a few minor knocks on the headsock also

I have a pair of MEC gold active p/ups. They are identical in size and are out of a Stage 2 five string, they also fit 4 string stage 1's, I think they are a ceraminc bar magnet Condition - one is mint, the other has some wear, photo's to follow they are 95mm wide, same as my 4 string jazz Cheers Tony

Bump The fault I had with the neck pick up has now ben resolved. I got a pair of used p/ups (couldn't find a single) when fitting it, noticed the fault was due to the earth (outer core of the white cable) was soldered in with the inner core. I had the new pick up in when I realised what had happened. Soldered it in correctly and it works fine. So the bass is now in full working order Tony -

I picked up a Jap Fender ,75 reissue a few weeks back, from the conversation I had, it dated about 10 years back and for it's age is in average to good condition! Decided to take a look at the serial today. It's A028453 with "made in Japan" on the headstock According to the various Fender dating sites out there, that puts it around 1985-1986! Fender serials I thought it was 1997 ish, but I think that would say "crafted in Japan" on the headstock. Can someone confirm this is correct? Tony
