Total Watts

  1. I’ve tried it at the end. Seems a bit too hot. Plus, the presence and treble knobs when dialled all the way up create a lot of noise. Shame really. They have a nice bite.
  2. Hello again. Generally, where’s the best place for a preamp pedal to go in a chain of pedals that arrive finally at an audio interface? This is for home recording only so no cabs and amplifiers. I know there are preferences, but does it go before a compressor? Does it go at the end of the chain? Where technically is the ideal spot for it? Thank you.
  3. Tech 21 BDDI V2. Was looking at these recently. Couldn’t find a price I liked sadly.
  4. Where in a pedal chain does your preamp go? Is there an ideal place for it? At the end? At the beginning? After a compressor? It’s all so confusing.
  5. Is a Stingray Special as hot at a Bongo?
  6. Considered a preamp but there’s so many to choose from and each has its own colour that will have to be managed. 😎
  7. I record at home only these days. The Bongo was so hot I’d have to turn its Vol pot so not to overload the audio interface. By doing so, I took some of the meat away from its preamp. Don’t have to do this with the Stingray Classic.
  8. Question then, Is a Stingray 4H Special going to be as hot as a Bongo 4H simply because of the the 18v circuit? 😇
  9. I got me Bongo 4H Sapphire during Covid for 1K. It was erratic with me audio interface in terms of output. The preamp kept distorting its output. Had it repaired but no difference. Sold it to some dude in NZ who was happy to have it shipped from London. Made some really cool demos with it on me own but ultimately wanted it gone because of the insane excess output that was very difficult to manage on board with EQ knobs and input gain on the AI.
  10. Both have an 18v system. Have any of you played extensively with both? I’ve had the Bongo but sold due to unresolved technical issues. Had loads of power. My trusted 97 Stingray 3EQ classic is fine but it lacks something the lack of frets and voltage provides. Thank you!
  11. Have a Source Audio Aftershock. With their Neuro app, have found some nice preamp models…
  12. Help again, Tempted to buy a Special but have played me classic for so long, worried it could be a waste of money. I know I should try one out to be sure but access is so hard… Has anyone here gone from one to the other? Does the 18v make any difference? Mine has that classic sound. Is the Special better or just different? Any specific details would be very welcome. Thank you.
  13. I have changed them quite recently yes. I’ve never owned Pre amp. Not sure I need or want one. Seems to me, lots of folks change their pre amp pedals as if it’s an experimental game. This Genzler: do I have need to compare it to a SansAmp or others? All these options is driving me bonkers.
