  1. Not really after the SVT sound. I'm after something more neutral.
  2. I think I'm also after something that has a mid control. A lot of pedal makers leave that out for some reason.
  3. I would like just one pedal, please.
  4. I run a fairly basic rig to get more of an old school tone. Precision with flats into a Polytune, Spark Booster and then into a MarkBass combo. I also use a Radial DI box. I'm looking for edge of breakup/very low gain valve tones. Is there anything out there that beats the Spark Booster for this? I have tried: Xotic BB Bass Preamp SolidGold Beta Mk II Bearfoot Blueberry Phat Phuk B Way Huge Green Rhino The Spark Booster is the one I've always preferred. I predominantly use it on the 'clean' setting.
  5. What is the DI quality like?
  6. EBS flat cables all the way.
  7. Dunlop flats would be my recommendation. Big fan.
  8. Pinegrove make awesome straps.
  9. Pop country, in other words.
  10. I think an outboard preamp (with DI) is essential for any gigging bass player. The preamp is the FOH tone - the sound person usually takes the DI out from there or a house DI box is put between the preamp and the amp on stage. The preamp can be used to control the FOH sound and the amp on stage can be used to control the stage sound. That way you can EQ properly for two different environments. How I've always done it.
  11. No, it's just proper technique.
  12. I'm sure the high tension flats did not help.
  13. Discontinued a long time ago.
  14. I've always had a soft spot for the MXR M81 - fantastic preamp for clean tones.
  15. I normally wear Timberlands instead of Vans or DMs like everyone else in the rock scene.
  16. Well you'll need a new nut for a start...
  17. Really happy with mine, no problems dialling in a great sound. Plenty of punch too.
  18. Very happy with my rig. Precision into a MarkBass combo. TC Polytune and Spark Booster. What more do you need?
  19. I can't think of another guitarist who had a greater impact on not only the music but the image and influence on the genre. Hendrix is number one for a reason.
  20. Giving this yet another bump. I have a chance to buy one for a great price yet nobody seems to have used this pedal...
  21. I think the Digbeth has had nothing but universal praise on here and competes with preamps double the price. I have an MXR M-80 but always wish it had headphones out...
  22. Peavey Micro Bass is a great little amp. Ask if you could purchase just that. Harley Benton are decent basses, a secondhand Squier/Cort/Ibanez/Yamaha all should be considered if budget allows.
  23. Bargain strings round 2: https://www.amazon.co.uk/NR45105L-45-105-Nickel-Guitar-String/dp/B0017Y6N90/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=1BTEJRMVGUNWH&keywords=sit+bass+strings&qid=1699105373&sprefix=sit+bass+strings%2Caps%2C66&sr=8-3
