1. That`s their Precision copy. Don`t know what they call it but you can check the website. Mine`s the V940FL, and it`s a different beast altogether.
2.
I have suitably ammended the title to stop anyone giving themselves a Hernia trying to get on.
Thanks Bob...overlooked that one. Cheers...Paul (Saxobass)
3. Thanks guys.....any idea about its value....i.e. as a Cort lookalike????
4. Definitely a Cort......does anyone have any idea about its value?
5. Thanks everyone for some really helpful info. Unless my friend changes his mind I`ll go for this one.
6. I`ve been offered a Tokai Jazz copy and I think it is over 15 years old. I know the guy well and he looks after his kit. Does anyone here have experience of these basses and can offer any guidance/advice?
7. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!It is a Cort (tuners licensed by Steinberger). Very embarrassing for me as I stuck it in the `for sale` section for the present owner to help him out. Deluged with pics and info! Red face!
8. Better hold steady on this one fellas. I agree with everything said and have contacted the owner. I`ll get back as soon as I have spoken to him. Someone`s trying to pull a fast one here and it certainly isn`t me! I`ve got my ideas though and I`m checking it out down the line.
9. Point taken fellas......I`m on me way. In fact I had my doubts and had already said I wasn`t interested. Coat`s on- I`m gone. Cheers all.
10. The owner wants as close to £300 as he can get for this instrument, a 5 string Steinberger which looks quite old, has possibly been de-fretted and has had a precision type p.u.p. inserted instead of the original. I`m told the bridge p.u. is original. It plays well and , I believe, was brought in from America by the original owner, a professional bassist. The top plate has been resprayed quite well, and although well used is quite tidy. If you fancy it phone Phil on 01626 773400. I`ve played it and can answer questions up to a point ( I took the pictures for him), but don`t own it myself. It seems like an interesting instrument to me.
11.
yes keep us in the loop please interest well piqued
Well here it is with pictures! The owner wants as near as he can get to £300 for it. If anyone is intersted phone Phil on 01626 773400.
12. I`ve been playing the Bubinga bodied 4 string fretless now for 3 months (the V940 FL?), and I really can`t fault it. Very nice neck with a lovely fast, smooth action, good, punchy sound range, well made and superb value I`d say! Using it for modern jazz and don`t believe it can be faulted at the price.
13. Will report a.s.a.p. Possibly a bit later as I am going into hospital next week. They are giving me a stent for Xmas.....gift wrapped I hope! Incidentally.....what`s wrong with the wooden ones and what is the Steinberger sound?
14. No way of telling which model until it is delivered. I`ll then report on model and price. Cheers!
15. Just been offered a 5 string fretless Steinberger. Any thoughts? Don`t know anything about them and I`ve never played a 5 string. No idea of value either. A paragon of ignorance here, then!!!
16. Thanks for some really helpful stuff. Just come across the Epiphone Zenith, or Triumph 11 in the UK. Has anyone tried one of these yet?
17. Arthritis forces me away from my upright. I`d like the same sort of sound from, presumably, a bass guitar with some acoustic properties like a Godin or a Viellette. Any advice would be appreciated.
18. Very interested. Is it still for sale, does it have the full 34" scale neck, and as I am in Devon how would we do the deal????
19.
Still available.
Got a rather lovely `German Blonde` 3/4 size double bass that I`d consider trading. It was built int he 50`s, is in superb condition, and was recently valued by a dealer as being worth around £1400. He oiffered me £900 cash for it. Interested?
20. Can`t find it on Ebay. Would you be interested in trading it for a rather lovely `German Blonde` double bass (3/4 size)dating from the 50`s and in superb condition. This was recently valued by a dealer as being worth about £ 1400....he offered me a straight &900 for it. Cheers....Paul Warner
21. Due to Rheumatoid arthritis now playing fretless BG and need a battery powered amp for gigs where power/mains is absent. Know about the `Briefcase` amp and wondered whether a light and economical alternative was available. Any ideas?
22. Thanks everybody.
23. Rheumatoid Arthritis in my wrists had stopped me playing my double bass and I would like to try the acoustic bass guitar as a (hopefully) `fill-in`alternative. I would like to know the differences between fretted and fretless varieties in terms of sound, playing feel and ease, and volume. Also, I was thinking of paying around £300 having been told this should get me something reasonably decent. I would like some recommendations, please, as getting info. seems difficult. So far I`ve looked at Crafter (BA 400 EQ), Dean, Tanglewood (Sundance TW55 A/bass FRB) Fender (Kingdom?) and Ashbury. Help needed please.
24. Hi Dazzadjl.....have sent a message to you about the Tacoma. Could be interested.
25. I`m a double bass player currently prevented from playing by the onset of rheumatoid arthritis in my wrists. My folky friends have suggested I buy an acoustic bass guitar in order to carry on playing for them. Any comments, suggestions and recommendations would be very welcome.
