  1. My scales are broken at the moment but I have a previous note of 4.2kg. It feels lighter as it's so well balanced.
  2. That's interesting, I was thinking of getting a single (10 or 12) and then saving up for a second only if needed. I guess the lfsys frfr can be shaped well with the amps eq, especially the tilt. Don't need it straight away so time to save and research.
  3. I can dream of the Dubster, but I don't think I can find a place for it in the house. Certainly won't get it under the Xmas tree this year... All the reading I've been doing suggests barefaced is the way to go.
  4. Best - my new Warwick star bass fretless as am early Xmas present last month. Does everything I hoped, sounds great and feels great. Worst - ghs pressure wound strings. The high tension seems to have triggered a load of hand pain. More or less under control now I've moved to shorter scales and tape wound strings. Thought I wanted high tension, my body disagrees!
  5. Definitely think I'll get the 500 head in the new year. Any recommendations for portable cabs that would be good for ska/reggae?
  6. John just bought a sire v7 fretless off me. Lovely guy to deal with, paid quickly and let me know it had got there safely. Thanks John
  7. Have you tried using finger 3 for the 5th? that frees up your 4th finger for the minor third on the way down.
  8. Finally got round to some new pics. I was careful not to play it so I don't change my mind again...
  9. Well I had a really draining day today, i was feeling exhausted and flat but just made the effort to blast through some songs on headphones and I feel like myself again! The power of bass!
  10. Yeah this is a lovely bass. I tried sell it twice before but got cold feet both times. It's definitely going now though as full scale isn't working for me any more.
  11. Lovely well balanced light 5 string. The burgundy is a lovely red and the swamp ash wood grain comes through nicely. The neck is a 5 piece panga-panga and walnut. Fretboard is roasted maple. Plays really well and the Markbass mb-1 pre gives scope for plenty of sounds. Pickups are bartolini mk1. Tuners are hipshot ultralite which means it balances perfectly. I've moved over to medium and short scale so now moving this on. Can post at buyer's cost. Open to trades for an amp: ideally Ashdown RM500, Ampeg PF500, or possibly TC Electronic 500w. These are old pics, I'll update them later today.
  12. This is ready to go, just got a replacement 4 string fretless so need to get it gone. Can post at cost with insurance. Would still consider trades for a half decent amp, combo or cab.
  13. I picked up an ashdown shirt scale Grail. This is a slimmed down jazz, plays really well, sounds good with decent pickups. Super light and no neck dive as it has lightweight hipshot tuners. https://ashdownmusic.com/products/the-grail-short-scale Probably won't feel custom made but ticks your boxes and should do the job.
  14. Bought some strings at a great price from David. Posted quickly. Quick and friendly to deal with.
