  1. The ultra has a battery box.
  2. Reduced to £110 posted.
  3. To avoid confusion with the price I initially put in the field, I've just reduced it, so it's now 275 quid if you can pick it up in brizzle, 300 quid shipped. Bargain imo.
  4. Thanks, yeah these are amazing instruments. I moved to short scales a while ago for comfort reasons, and if you need a short scale 5 string with an actually useable b-string, this is the way to go imo. Thought the fanned frets would take some getting used to, but it was only about 15 minutes of playing before I got it, and now I don't even notice the difference, even going back and forth between this and other basses. Only reason I'm selling is I gradually crept back up to 34" after getting used to medium scale.
  5. Didn't think I'd sell this, but I'm back on to long scale instruments. If you're a short scale person, this is pretty much the ultimate short scale IMO. Very lightweight, incredibly comfortable to wear and play. Doesn't require double ball end strings. Tuners work great. Incredibly stable, with carbon rods and a roasted neck which is nicely figured. The pre-amp is fantastic too, with the parametric mid control giving you basically unlimited tones. Would prefer collection in Bristol, but have a box, so can potentially ship, at buyer's cost and risk. Ibanez gig bag included. It's guitar sized, so would make a phenomenal travel bass.
  6. I know it's the world's most annoying question, but - weight? Even if you don't know it, a guesstimate along the lines of 7ish, 8ish, 9ish or more lbs would be appreciated. Cheers. 😁
  7. Do you know the weight?
  8. Yeah it really is. I bought it expecting to keep the hard case it came in, see if I could get on with 34" scale, and likely move it on. But it's just super light, comfy, easy to play, and sounds better than anything else I've played (including American fenders and gibsons). Those "Duncan design" pickups in some squires are really hot, great for overdriven tones. It's also got loads of wear on it, thought it would be cool to find out who had it before me, what kind of music it's played, that sort of thing. I get sentimental like that about instruments I don't see myself parting with.
  9. How come? I'm selling my 32" Classic Vibe Jag with a black pickguard (which is nearly new) to fund my purchase of the 34" Vintage Modified Jag with a tort pickguard (which is about 10 years old and probably previously owned by someone on here).
  10. Not sure actually. I bought it in January of this year, and the seller described it as "barely used" and "near mint". I don't tend to use words like that when I'm selling stuff, cuz they mean different things to different people, but certainly since I've had it, it's only been used indoors, and it looks like whoever had it before me didn't have it long and took good care of it too.
  11. I don't think I've ever seen a P-Bass with the pickguard divided like that before. That's such a good idea. Did you do that, or were they made like that for a while or something?
  12. I picked this up from bass direct, and it's a corker! They had it listed as a classic vibe, but I think its a vintage modified. You know when you just instantly fall for an instrument as soon as you plug it in? This one's a keeper. I did a Google search, and thought I recognised the tort pattern in a picture on this forum, but couldn't follow the link. Identifying features include stripped screws on the control and scratch plates, one rusty screw bottom left, and a ding in the neck where you dropped it. 😅 Was it yours at any point, and if so - why did you sell it? Its brilliant.
  13. Yep, these are the 32" scale versions. Jags are confusing, because there's never been any consensus on what scale they should be, and both fender and squier seem to have done them in everywhere from 30" to 34". This one is Indonesian made, nyatoh body, 32" scale neck, 38mm at the nut, Indian Laurel fretboard. It looks, feels and plays stunningly for a cheap bass.
  14. I literally just came here to post this. 😅 Early doors, but my gut tells me they will be allowed to call them humbuckers because humbuckers isn't specific enough to lock them into any particular design, and they can say that both pups together is humbucking. Like, it's obviously deceptive marketing, but it'll probably turn out to be technically within the law.
  15. I do now have an appropriate box, so happy to discuss shipping. Would be around £35 with adequate insurance.
  16. £275 collected. Will ship at buyer's cost. Ampeg Portaflex PF-500. Comes with the gig bag, which I don't think you can get any more. These amps sound great. I've had 2 because I keep coming back to how good the pre-amp sounds in these. Only selling because I have a smaller, more powerful head with built in overdrive which is more useful to me, and can't afford to keep both. 275 quid collected. Uk postage at buyer's cost. Cheers Vyn.
  17. Darkglass Alpha Omicron. Great distortion pedal with an unfortunate name. Supplied with box and instructions. No sticker or plectrum, and no power supply. Velcro on the back. 110 quid posted in the UK.
  18. Darkglass Vintage Microtubes. Great overdrive pedal. Supplied with box and instructions - no sticker or plectrum though. These didn't come with a power supply to my knowledge, so not included. 125 quid posted in the UK.
  19. Howdy. Moving this one on to fund another purchase. Great instrument, quality well above its price point, and sounds great. Stacked volume/tone pots for each pickup makes it super versatile. Will include the schaller strap locks. Doesn't come with a case, so collection only preferred in Bristol. I do now have a box, so could wrap in bubble wrap and ship at buyers risk. Only thing I'd note is that one of the screws on the P pickup is rounded off, so can't adjust the height on that side, but it sounds good where it is. Cheers Vyn.
  20. Thanks all. Experimentation shows that a big muff sounds much better before the pre-amp, either with or without the overdrive circuit on, and with the overdrive circuit on, the big muff feeds back horribly if it's in the effects loop, so that settles that. I still don't really know if I'm actually hearing the big muff, or just the VMT in the amp being driven harder, but either way it sounds good.
  21. Got a darkglass microtubes head with built in OD channel. If I want more drive, should I run it up front into the amp, or in the effects loop? If I put it in front, does it actually matter what I use, since in theory I'd just be driving the gain circuitry of the amp harder, right? Or does it not work that way with solid state stuff? 🤔
  22. I sticker bombed a pickguard recently. Stickers all over it, scalpel/razor blade around the edges, sprayed clear satin varnish over the top - I have this anyway for other hobbies, but Halfords stuff will do fine. Be careful with cold and humidity - both can result in clear coat coming out cloudy/powdery. Do a test spray on something else and dial in your distance and number of passes based on that. I know my choice of stickers will not be to most peoples tastes, but I don't give a monkies.
  23. I have one of these and love it. If you play short scales for comfort/hand issue reasons, but need a 5 string, this is the way to go IMO. String tension is very balanced across the fretboard, and it keeps that short scale playability, without sacrificing too much on the low b. I've thought about upgrading the pickups to Aguilars as you've done, and think it would definitely improve, but I also find the pre-amp is plenty good enough to make up for the slightly dark Bartolinis. Think it's more of a personal preference thing rather than an a virtual necessity, as some of the youtube reviewers suggest. I dig that it looks so modern, but kind of sounds more like a thunderbird than a dingwall, with the barts. GLWTS!
  24. Would do it, yeah. But if I ever go the modelling route, it'll probably be the Darkglass Exponent, and ditch the pedalboard entirely.
