1. As I read that post I happened to be listening to:
'Kuru/Speak like a child'
Spooky! Peter
2. Well, so far I'm a little surprised at the extent of the (conditional) Yays. Pleasantly surprised.
3. I'd be wary of modding to 18v unless you know something I don't. The pre doubles the voltage from 9v to 18v anyway and if you add another battery you may be putting 36v thru the pre (the pups remain at battery voltage) and that could be 'interesting' to say the least. 'She canna take it Spock' I've just put an ACG02 into a friends one of these and it has transformed the 'musicality' of the bass giving lots of added overtones and flexibility without diminishing the Spector active EMG growl. If it does it for you as is that's good though. I'm planning on putting another ACG02 into my 4! Edited to say: I really should have read your post more thoroughly I see it's the pups you want to upgrade to 18 and remove the pre. Everyone to their own. What sort of music do you play? Anything subtle? Peter
4. A simple question. Musically he really does it for me, a whole range of his stuff that I find subtle, musically tight, and appropriate. It grabs my soul. Then again I love jazz. I get a feeling that even among bassists I'm in the minority. Yes I know some of you think he's clever, moved the goalposts etc but that's not the question. Musically does his stuff 'move you'? Satisfy my curiosity Yay or Nay? Peter
5. Nice one! I've just put mine away. I've had 9 basses of mine in my front room this evening, Homers 2 and Russ's loverly Overwater. Lots of bass
6. Brilliant! No photos - no bass
7. At the risk of repeating myself I'll be heading up the M6 from Kendal and will gladly sweep up any stragglers. I'll probably heading North on the Saturday though. Making the most of the delights of a pint or two of 'heavy' and a bundle or two for being an 'English poof' Peter
8. Why thank you. I did find myself staring, and dribbling - just a little. Peter
9. Here's a pair of bumps: This can make it's way to Harrogate if you're interested in checking it out. The bass not the bumps!! Peter
10. Welcome Biro and yes your English is superb! Good to see so many Italians here on BC. Not been to Florence yet but I've adored all the many parts of Italy I have visited so far. and Valentino Rossi is THE Man! Peter
11.
"The Best" is always a personal opinion and it's shame that if a post isn't prefaced with IMO, IMHO etc then it's jumped on.
Wrong (imo), it's a simple statement. There's the world of difference between stating 'The best' and saying 'I reckon, imo, to me, in my opinion', etc. In our written language it means two quite different things. I read English as it's written, if you're writing something that means something else then imo you've f***ed up Peter
12. If anyone is interested in my Aria Pro II CSB 450: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;#entry403208 Drop me a pm and let me know. With no P&P I might let this go for silly money? Peter
13.
There is,but its for the individual, and some people don't want to realise that.
+1 This is the very reason I've refrained from entering into the fray here. To say luthier A is the best, no qualification, is a red rag to a bull here. Perceived quality and issues of what is the best are derived from within the individual. Some luthiers are held on a pedestal because of their personal traits as much as the quality of their product imo. Those personal attributes may appeal to some and 'burst a bubble' for others. I'm pretty sure too that for a multitude of reasons, some planned and some not, every luthier would conceed that their products vary in terms of ascetics, ergonomics anf function. Christ even companies like Fender et. al. have huge variations when using mass production! Personally I don't like 'bullshit' but I sure do smell a whole load of it when it comes to basses and bass gear/accessories generally All this is just coming from my map of the World - just like everyone elses opinion. Peter
14. Ease my pain - make me an offer, I need a ACG02 for my Spector Euro LX. This bass would complement any collection. Studenthood is becoming a reality, albeit a fun one. Save me from the checkout guys. Peter
15. Thank you I'll be bringing my Warmoth with it's single Darkstar and ACG02 to Harrogate too. Being single pup it's the ideal vehicle for demonstrating the pre in it's most elimentary and easily grasped form. Peter
16. Just bought some strings from John as he was great as ever. A part of me wished it was a nice Streamer with strings but..... Peter
17. The interweb is your friend http://www.acguitars.co.uk/index.php
18. Alan, you are a star!
19. Is that good? (The whole bottle went I'm afraid - a real pleasure - jeez I've got 2 lectures and a date tomorra)
20. Just been chatting to Al (Niceguyhomer) and it could be an opportunity for a stopover too, a couple of beers and a curry. Peter
21. Hiya Pete Thanks for checking it out anyway. Peter
22. Bump with a further significant price reduction. This bass is no relic, it's a real players instrument! Peter
23.
Do you get a bulk discount on these now Peter?
Well, ..... Alan's just picked it up and he's over the moon. I think he'll be up til late experimenting. The problem is I have a Spector Euro too, although it's a 4. I was happy with the Tonepump until I just heard Alan playing. I'm now thinking along the lines of 'fit an ACG02, put the Tonepump in my Bass Collection'. Will somebody please buy my Aria so I can afford my 4th ACG02 !! Reducing price of Aria as we speak. Peter
24. Esp do some 35" scale 4 stringers. One here: http://www.espguitars.com/basses_f.html
