1. Stringsdirect search reveals: http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/search?q[keywords]=lemon&commit=Go Something odd going on but if you search stringsdirect there's several products. Peter
2. You'll be pleased to know John that with reference my previous post I have actually won the lottery! So will £10 do it then? Beautiful btw. Sorry to hear about your mate. As you know I've been a biker most of my life and it's given me many moments of truly memorable times but when it bits back it can bite hard. Peter
3. Sorry to hear that Al. I was looking forward to 'Not so nice guy Eddie' moving into new musical territory. But you do know a fair few musicians I would think so I hope something turns up. Life just wouldn't be the same without you around. Peter
4. Surreal thread - yep. I can't see Fender introducing a JJB while he's using a Shuker tbh. The guy's a legend and a dude (no offence Dood) - serious sh*t. Wayne barely knew of Jaco's existence so whatdoya expect. Waynenotsooldpunkdude I've been asked if I fancy starting up a punk band - bring it on! Stranglers, Jam, Clash.... Peter
5. Lottery this w/e then
6. Wow that Westone looks immense! Where are you? (Oops, Mackem ) Peter
7. I've just heard back from PJ at Spector. It seems the post mid 08 basses have an internal switch (I think it's a switch but it may be a trim pot) that tones down the TonePump. If you want a newer Tonepump they are $100 basically. So it's worth a look inside guys to see if you've got one. I'd guess Sound Control stock probably won't have but worth a look. Peter
8. I think that the only problem with MarkBass is that they have competitors for smaller amps now and they are perhaps less fashionable. Reading between the lines there's nothing that's demoted them from being brilliant. I love my LMII.
9. I think maybe £700 for a Sterling, albeit mint is a little high. Mint Ray's are struggling at £650 at the mo.
10. Another happy customer, have done a number of deals with Julian the most recent being yesterday. Peter
11. Looking at the headstock I think you may be right. Hmm...
12. If you don't have them I'll sign up for one. Peter
13. Doh, and I replied to it as well. My new 4 stringer is way and above the best bass I've ever seen, played, tasted, fondled, slept with etc. Oh and it balances nicely too. Peter
14. I'm sure there are some your way, why not start a thread, we're a friendly bunch. I'm in Kendal otherwise you're more than welcome Peter
15. Just an observation, the body shape at the bottom is very ACG Harlot i.e. very nice indeed. I find my Harlot fits in a stand fine, just a little off centre, or better still a neck hanging stand. Interesting form/function, ascetic/ergonomic conundrum Peter
16. I wasn't totally awestruck by the RKS site photo but the bass in the flesh is something quite different. Mine is a Sym Bass with the symmetrical horns and it does balence too. I have some detail shots I'll post. Mine also has the translucent finish and the inside of the cutaway is satin, a nice touch. What is there to say? Very high quality of construction (US made) with a 3 piece neck thru neck with tiny wings that are even replicated in the headstock. There is an alloy 'resonance block' at the end of the headstock and the tuners are US Ultralites. The board is ebony and the strings can be mounted thru body. The bass is passive vol/tone and the control are neat and have a weighty smoothness that is delightful. The tone for a passive bass is really good, very punchy with reasonable tonal variation. The string spacing is generous and slightly adjustable via the Hipshot chromed brass bridge. The neck is very flat which I like on a wider board. Marmite? Here's some detail pics. Peter
17. I believe that the one with the longer top horn is actually the cheaper one. I've got one, as of today, in Trans Red. Peter
18.
Thanks GreeneKing
And thnx Alex for that dinky wee program. Peter
19. Bum!!!!! I really wanted to sell this bass as the 1st option. Just traded it (very happy with the trade btw) when I get an offer - many apols. I didn't update the thread as these things aren't certain until they're certain. Peter
20. I obviously like hideous shapes
21. I'd go for one or the other but not both together. The bottom preferably.
22. I think Ti in this application is just a 'fashion victim'. Great for some uses though. I've got a bike frame custom made from some. Doesn't rust either.
23. Thank you for the kind comments. The only problem I have with the bass (as well as having too many) is that my big hands are a bit clumsy at the far end of the neck. If anyone has an interesting trade I would consider it. This really is a superb bass that oozes quality and tone. So bumparooo Peter
24. If it was in the humour forum it wouldn't have the same impact (no pun intended). Right forum
