I was a little worried their would be (well spotted). The Warmoth extended fretboard just fits neatly over the pickguard though. Warmoth necks are very good. In fact so it the one that came off, its practically new.

This bass has been very much 'work in progress'. I bought it from Thumper and it was an Allparts bound and blocked neck on I think an Allparts body with overwound Lindy Fralins and the bridge pup in the 'take it to the bridge' position. I added an ACG02 Pre-amp and a BadassII to the beast and was very pleased with the result. Now I have a history of owning at least 4 fretless basses and I've not been happy with the tone of any of them. (It could be my playing that's the problem). I bought a Warmoth fretless neck from a fellow BCer with the intention of putting it on my Warmoth Darkstar body, but..... the Warmoth is so good I don't want to mess with it. So today I put the Warmoth neck on the Jazzbasstard and I'm very pleased with the sound indeed. It really doesn't look as nice though. So I now have a spare neck..... Peter

That's yummy Sarah, I love it. Too many strings for me. Didn't know you were from Essex too. Dagenham? Billericay? Peter

So Martin, you pleased?
Its the genre you Jazzers fear, because it out improvises you,and the musicians are stronger, and far far more innovative, both in note choice and equipment. And best of all.......WE AINT SMUG ABOUT IT AND CHICKS LIKE US!!!
I love Metal, AND Jazz. Again just lucky I guess. And sober now too.

Sorry to hear it's not for you John. I had band practice with mine last night and it was as good as I'd expected, and I had expected a lot. Lots of in yer face bassiness. With a new distributor in the offing the present availabilty is drying up and the prices as going in the same direction for new stock. As an example Thomann were a bit over £1500. They are now : http://www.thomann.de/gb/spector_euro_4_lx_fmt_bc.htm So this is a real opportunity folks to grab a great bass at a price that's really reasonable.
Hang your heads in shame all you non believers, Jaco was and still is the most melodic, innovative and out there bassist to have walked the planet, although maybe slang is not the best example of his playing. There will be no Christmas for all doubters , I've told Santa where you all live. Shame , shame ,shame.
+ 1000 and I don't need convincing. It's all very well saying that so and so is now better but that's totally missing the point of Jaco. I've got Weather Report's 'Heavy Weather' in the car at the mo and I have a very open and wide musical appreciation but this is sublime bass playing in terms of feel, timing and sheer construction. He didn't just 'raise the bar', he invented the sport. That's what I fink anyway.

Some nice Bass Collections for sale
GreeneKing replied to Linus27's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Ouch! I sold mine (5 stringer) for less than £300. Both my 4 stringers were less than £200 and my present one is absolutely mint. They were expensive new, back aways. -
I sold Jocke my 4003 and he was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Tack själv Peter

Did you get a glimpse of mine while you were there? It's nearing laquer completion now.

Absolutely. It's no good imo saying they're this or that from the odd picture. You need to actually get your hands on one. -
Yes it's bling I know, and gold knobs too. Thought I'd share my shallow need for things that light up and shine:

Seems a bit pricey for a 'Legend' series unless it's a bit special.
I think I may have found the bass that is 100% right for me.
That's a phrase I've heard before
Hmmm I'm not getting the big Spector love at the minute.
Do you need to give it some time John? Are you maybe subconsiously wanting it to dissapoint? I would imagine it sounds a lot different to the Streamer. Maybe it needs to be given a blast in anger? For a P/J I like the pup balance. So often it's weighted towards the P. I'm finding it does a good bridge pup tone as well as a capable more bluesy tone on the neck. I'm using very little boost on the bass and treble at the moment. I'm off out to see the 'Blues Band' tonight and if I don't get myself ready I'll be late!! Peter

Here's one I bedded earlier. Where's my tripod when I needed it?

I'm already a huge fan of Sunbeams Alan. I prefer nickels and the Ernie Ball's are good too for less than half the price. Poor student see Just done the intonation and the saddle securing screw was slackened right off, many turns loose. The saddles were also flat as opposed to tilting backwards. All now sorted. I really like the idea of having no screws and springs to muck about with, just the serrated floor to the bridge to 'feel' the saddles along.

It's here! Amazing quality and finish. Absolutely flawless and the action is good although the intonation needs a wee tweak. The box was still taped with Sound Control tape. As for the tone? Well I fell into the trap of treating it like a Ric with passive VVTT as opposed to active boost only VVBT. I had Bass and Treble to the max. It was soooo boomy and I was turning all the gain and volume right down and thinking 'too much zing'. Then a re-think, turn B&T fully back (after all its not 'cutting' anything) and reintroduce as required. Bing Bloody Go! Neck not as deep as I thought, no where near as deep as the Warmoth. Very nice to play in fact. I will put some Nickels on (Extra Slinkies) at some point and gold knobs are a must. Photos too. Peter

Lookin' forward to it Alan. The secret to me is to remember that on the ACG02 one knob does tone (this is of course a simplification but not a lie). So that makes it a lot easier than/more intuitive , if different than a 2/3 EQ system. The other knobs just basically tweak the resultant 'sound'. Basically, I knock off all the treble, bin the peak boost and then get 'my tone' with just the low pass/blend. Then try some resonant peak boost and fill in the treble/upper mids. Really isn't rocket science Peter
-
No she wasn't THAT heavy
-
Go on, get an ACG pre and adjust the inputs on the blend Not passive but not 3EQ either

I was 14. Falling in love with 'Relics', Yes, Wishbone Ash and Afghan coats if I can remember correctly. Oh as well as the girl next door
