Aharon I'm fairly sure that Warmoth don't do thru necks. Their website is a top way to waste a couple of hours. The body is usually pre pilot drilled for the bridge. Nut come fitted too unless you don't want. http://www.warmoth.com/ Showcase is a great spot. Best way to order and ask questions imo is to call them. Peter

I've a newer EBS Microbass II with the -10 dB pad and a Multicomp compressor for sale (Black one). Both in excellent cherished condition and I think I have the boxes somewhere. ACG Pre's in basses and a dbx rackmount compressor mean that these are sitting around unemployed. £175 for the Microbass - sold £85 for the Multicomp They don't come with a psu but do take 9v batteries.

Does a Markbass LMII come with rack 'ears'?
GreeneKing replied to GreeneKing's topic in General Discussion
Cheers I'll give Mark a bell. Done and ordered. -
I was sure that it did but I'll be buggered if I can find them. If you tell me they do I'll keep searching, if not I'll order a pair Thanks in anticipation. Peter

On dodgy deals, bad people and BC Feedback
GreeneKing replied to Beedster's topic in General Discussion
I've had one deal that for me went a bit 'sour'. I was the seller (well a trade actually) and the recipient a few days later highlighted a damaged neck which was duly photographed and I have no doubt that it was damaged (by adjusting the trussrod I suspect). The question is when it was damaged. The photo showed 'dirt' in the crack supposedly evidencing it was an old issue but the photos I took of the bass clearly showed no crack at all 2 days before I personally exchanged basses. So the origin of the 'dirt' and the crack was to me very suspect. I ended up buying a new neck from the US and posting it to the other guy. My point is fault's not allways clear and I don't want to drag the whole thing into the public domain with names and counter allegations. Generally it's been great but as the site gets bigger it's a statistical reality that eventually you'll bump into someone with a different idea of 'right and wrong' to yourself. I've also had two people commit to buy basses recently and then back out. In one case I was awaiting on the Paypal notification of payment before sending the packaged bass and pm'd the guy to see 'what gives'. He told me he'd forgotten to tell me he'd changed his mind! In the other case I held one for months waiting for the seller to be able to afford it and then they told me they'd bought a much more expensive bass and the deal was off! Good idea re feedback Nick! - I now have a signature -

I understand TB. The truth for me is I tend to be very defensive around Jaco - not that you would have noticed I don't think the clip is deadful either - it's art for god's sake and art isn't perfection. Music would be sythesised and computer generated otherwise. I personaly don't want my music perfect, something more organic yet creative soothes my soul. But. thankfully one man's biscuit is another man's Canestrelli

Schaller have even less depth of thread than the Boston 2 nut ones so they won't be a helpful alternaltive. Get a thinner strap?

Are you basing your opinion of Jaco on one Utube clip? I'm not sure when it was filmed but he did suffer enormously from the effects of overindulgence in mainly coke and alcohol. Even given that I still think it's brilliant. To see the significance of the man you need to go back and listen to accounts of other musicians who were around when maybe a camera or recorder wasn't. Make yourself aware of his raw and vibrant energy. Listen to what he was recording with Weather Report and before, and then step back and ask what else was going on bass wise at that time. I'm sorry but imo he's unique, whether or not you like his stuff. He did things with a bass that hadn't even been dreamnt of before and we all celebrate his legacy today. A true innovator. He also played a groove like no other too. At least that's what I firmly believe. I do love jazz mind

Love him or loath him there was bass before Jaco and there was bass after Jaco.. I think you really have to look at him from this perspective, he was coming up with this stuff on the hoof. I'm, errr.... a bit of a fan
does anyone have any ideas.
Here's one Trev: Hi Gary How's it going man? Nice tv work mate. The RIM looks very cool. I am looking to get a similar sound to Tom Kennedy, I suppose we all are aint we? I tried a Fodera and wasn't that impressed. Does anyone have any ideas? Trev. (not meaning to be aloof or condescending but it is a lot easier on the brain, cause mine was beginning to hurt) Peter

1. Adjust the height until you're comfortable. 2. If you play metal lower is until it starts to hurt to play. 3. If you play jazz raise it until above. 4. Otherwise leave as it.

Danish oil and wire wool for finishing bare wood
GreeneKing replied to Beedster's topic in Repairs and Technical
Tung oil (pure) and Warwick wax worked well on my Warmoth although you need to allow plenty of time between coats for real drying to take place. I was leaving 24 hrs between coats and it still became very wet until it was kindly 'dehumidified' in Alan (ACG's) workshop for a while. Applying the oil with the pad and wiping the wet away after about 20 min worked well too. I'd recommend the 'Scotchbrite' type of nylon 'wire wool' as it doesn't leave tiny bits of metal embedded in the wood. -
New acquisition has assigned my other basses to the bin
GreeneKing replied to a topic in Bass Guitars
I've got an absolutely mint, as in brand spanking... BB1500A. (Thanks to BB2000) Whilst it certainly doesn't consign my other (10) basses to the 'bin' it's certainly got a great 'nasal' honk. The one bass that could do the above it it had too would probably be my Darkstar/ACG/Warmoth. It is immense. I'm about to try a Warmoth fretless neck on it and I can't but think I'm going to miss it 'as it is' too much Hmmm.... does anyone know if a Warmoth neck will fit an Allparts body? I may fit the Warmoth neck to my Jazzbastard/ACG instead and see how that goes. Hmmm..... On reflection - my Thumb is also immense, as are my Ric's and just about every bass I own. I have them all for good reason -
I'd say that the price is ok, definately not cheap. It seems to be original and functioning as well as in good condition. Mine cost me £195 on eBay and was a bargain. It's not in such good condition but it aint bad and it all works. I bunged a new pickguard on tho. These are feck off heavy beasts mind. Alarmingly so! But they are also bullet proof. They are a bit Ric like in tone (also passive) and the controls are pretty much unique. The tone controls double as single coil/humbucker switches.

Many thanx one and all for the help. Only problem now is that I've cut a plucking finger by leaving a sharp knife in the washing up bowl. I was hoping that the cut wouldn't be through the skin or not quite in the place I play with. No chance I just hate cutting my hands. Blood on the strings.

That's great John shoulda known you'd come to the rescue I was thinking along the same lines with sizes and the weight thing. I've already got a 3U Warwick rack bag with the Hartke in it and that'll do nicely. I've order one of these: http://www.flightcasewarehouse.co.uk/music...sp?id=3680-4677 and I'll put the Korg and LMII in that and nothing will be jammed in too tightly.
