Yo! And my new Harlot is getting there I didn't intend for this great bass to end up on the 'open market' to be honest. I also didn't really want to part with it until my new 4 string Harlot was in my grubby mitts. I am I realise destined to be a 4 string player and that's the ONLY reason I was parting with this superb bass. I aired the idea of selling the 5 stringer through Alan when I had my 4 string ACG Harlot. It just turned out that Alan had had an enquiry from a guy in Greece looking for a 5 stringer and one thing led to another. The bass was delivered to the Bass Gallery for the new owner to collect. The new owner loved the quality, balance and tone of the Harlot but couldn't get on with the neck. I'm a little surprised at this as Alan's necks are assymetrically finished and finely crafted for ease of playing. It's one of Alan's major criteria. But I'm me and the new owner may of had very small hands or some other issue? Anyway the bass sprung up on the Gallery at an inflated price and I was very annoyed initially thinking the guy had pulled a fast one to earn a few bob. But on talking to him it seems it was not so. This is a virtually new, unmarked, beautiful instrument and if you get the chance it's well worth a try. A chance to get a great custom ACGs without waiting however many months for it to be built. I mainly used to use disposables on the bike. I've very narrow ear channels and that's the root of the problem. I've tried other types and not had much success, I even had an expensive pair made to measure and they were too big/uncomfortable.

+1 on what Peted said. The only time I get ear infections is when I use ear plugs Peter

I took the Hatke to band practice tonight. I used both my GS112 Aguilars and it was really good. Very good indeed. For less than £200 it was quite incredible. The volume takes off from 5 unlike the Mark Bass which does the opposite. The tone is just great and the guys were very impressed.

Well the thing doesn't look too shoddy inside: Having a better valve I popped it in, a 2 minute job. Tung-Sol for Sovtek I'll take it along to band practice tomorrow and see what gives. Peter

I suspect that the ideal number of screws relates directly to the area of the neck pocket. Have you thought about fitting metal inserts in the neck and using set screws instead of wood screws? I did this to my Warmoth build and it's far more secure in the long term.

A bit of a size and weight difference compared to the MB LMII The overused word in relation to these amps was the 1st one that jumped into my mind when using the amp for the 1st time. Warm. Initial impressions are that there's plenty of volume available, the 'Brite' button certainly works as does the passive tone controls (very different to cut and boost active tone controls) Perceived quality is good (controls and finish). It does get a bit 'hissy' at 5 on the treble tone and volume at or above 7. For £189 so long as it keeps going it's incredible. I've got a better quality valve that'll fit and wonder if it's worth a try?

My pair of speaker cables arrived yesterday - brilliant as per usual. Recommended. Cables definately can't be blamed for me sounding crap now Peter

That sure is a very pretty Ric. I'd try a mild abrasive like T-cut and if it doesn't show any sign of going stop!

I've got a Brooklyn Gear and a Comfort Strapp and like them both. I use Boston straplocks, similar to Schallers, much cheaper and they have two slim nuts so the nuts can be locked and don't work loose like Schallers. Quality seems to be at least on a par and interchangeable too. I did have an Overwater strap but they work in a completely different way to the Comfort/Brooklyn straps with the stretchy bit is a single piece of elastic attached to an otherwise non stretchy pad. My bass neck was doing nodding donkey impressions. I do wonder if they may have been modified? Peter
