Of interest is that adjusting the horn and tweeter (2) rheostat settings on the back of the Accugroove made no difference to my ears. I need to try the other one and investigate further. It may be that its warm tone is due to no horn or tweeter action. Peter

I was slightly stunned when my Cumbrian wife declined a cup of tea after walking in from the Limestone Walk. But, it seems that a beer was more important. It was warm.

Nick was a lovely chap. I bought the Chris Squire Ric that he found in Cash Converters years ago. Like many, I should have hung on to it.

The sad outcome from the day, given that I’ve not been around BC much was learning we’ve lost Old Horse Murphy 😢 Oh, and noticing that the Osteoporosis in my spine is becoming obvious. Age is certainly interesting. Becoming the oldies you used to see.

Many thanks go to Rob and his lovely family for creating the time and place and victualling us all day. One can never have too much tea. It was great to see old friends and make new ones. My love for P bass tone was affirmed again and I wish I’d have had a play on Luke’s Bravewood. His pedal board was awesome. It made me realise I’ve drifted away from being in touch with what is happening with things bass The shootout was interesting. My Accugrove was warm sounding and that suits me. I was surprised just how good my forgotten ‘spare’ GK Legacy 800 sounded alongside my Eich T900 and Tec Puma 900. Those two sounded near identical btw. I’ll have this to bring along Matt. I’ve been busy and I’ve forgotten to do a modding thread.

Mine has landed. It was a showroom model and Andertons called me to explain this. They offered me a set of strings. The bass arrived and it’s lovely. It weighs 8.6lb and although I’m not normally a fan I love the burst. There is however a shallow scratch near the nut. No strings were forthcoming either. Andertons have offered me £30 and strings. I’ve asked for a set of LaBella 760s and gone with that. I suspect I can sort the scratch. The bridge saddles were in orbit! I’ve turned the screws down over 4 turns and there’s more to go. It sounds lovely, a really woody P bass tone. No noise from the bass either. I like that the body resonates when you play. The base instrument is very sound and I’m making no apologies for modding the hell out of it. It’ll be my personal 54P in my 70th year. So, plans are, bridge, tuners, pickup, electrics and scratch plate. The whole behemoth. I could set up a mod thread I guess. The pick-up is going to be something quite different.

I’ve got a tobacco burst incoming, hopefully Tuesday Matt. I’m not averse to some modding if the basics are good. Peter

I’m not sure how I do that…..

I hope to bring along my ACG B Retro 5, 35”, two Zoot Funkmeisters both 32” scale, one a P with a Noll preamp and the other a J with a John East Uni Pre 5 knob. Finally my Cort Elrick NSJ5 35” with a Noll preamp installed. Amp and cab - Eich T900 with a single Accugroove Tri 112. Maybe a pedal board of delights. It all needs to fit into a Yaris. I seem to be lagging behind in the gear stakes 😄

Most definitely interested. It’s been a while since my last bass bash. Can bring along my pair of Zoots, an ACG and my Cortrick NSJ5. Peter
