  1. My band was on the same bill as Flash Harry. A very fine Queen tribute. And I knew The Beagles. Slightly off topic a solo act I saw one evening singing to backing tracks, was being Neil Diamond quite well. And in the second half, with a different wig, he was being Tom Jones.
  2. Steve Earle is too up himself these days. The other two are thankfully still entertaining.
  3. Most of the bands mentioned on TB and BC as well as Reddit that apparently have the worlds best bass player in residence. A brief listen and I never went back.
  4. Is that Dance, by Little Sister, or Little Sister, by Dance?
  5. I never understood the gushing praise so called intelligent people gave them. How could people listen to that whining monotonous voice mouthing lyrics that sounded like they were written by a 6 year old. The band was probably ok, but it needed a decent singer and an adult song writer.
  6. I started this thread as a result of an involvement in recording a version of Brown Eyed Girl. A song I’ve been playing live for many years and as a result of the recording, realised I had been playing it wrong. Obviously not so wrong as to be noticeable enough to get complaints. A request to record Stuck in The Middle With You, another very recognisable bass riff on the original record. Again I have not been playing the correct original riff for many years. In my defence I have been playing the Jeff Healey version, which in my opinion is much the better version anyway. And it will do for this recording.
  7. I read the thread title as Flea + Omelette Colman. Probably hunger.
  8. I wasn’t too sure about Wrecking Ball, so different to her previous output. But I did go and see her when she came to the UK with Buddy Miller, and Daryl Johnson on bass. Miller quite obviously the MD on that tour.
  9. I’ve seen her live a number of times, she was always worth the ticket price. Especially with the Hot Band. Although her diction can sometimes be annoying. She’s good to look at too.
  10. Thanks for the heads up. I’ve programmed the recorder.
  11. If you’re interested, Sky Arts 1.30 am tomorrow morning. The Great Songwriters. Noel Gallagher. It’s probably been on before and is available elsewhere anyway. The blurb reads : Described by Sir George Martin as `the finest songwriter of his generation', Noel Gallagher was the main songwriter in Oasis and now fronts Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. He has sold more than 100 million records. Here he performs Don't Look Back in Anger, Holy Mountain, It's a Beautiful World and What a Life!
  12. It’s an age thing, most of us tend to get more sensible as the years roll by.
  13. The biggest problem with Oasis at the time was they were everywhere and therefore extremely boring. Trying too hard to be the Beatles, the lead singer just sounded bored.
  14. Back when Oasis were big and we had a pub gig. Someone would put them on the jukebox and and we would all go “Christ, who put this crap on?” Much the same reaction when someone put rap on. Not sure what that says about the musical taste of the band members.
  15. Porridge And The Hubcaps. The Big Cake Band. If it’s just a wedding band, Big Day.
  16. In real life I was a freight forwarder for many years. I’m now retired. A freight forwarder is the intermediary between the seller and the the shipping company, be that sea or air freight. It takes care of documentation and arranging the shipping overseas. It may also liaise with a similar company overseas to handle import documentation,, duties etc, and possibly transport and delivery to the consignee. Basically taking all this off the hands of the seller, for a fee. And there are plenty of them, especially near major ports. Blue Aran may already have one they use.
  17. Slightly off topic my wife and kids along with another family, spent hours wandering around Savannah Georgia looking for The Bench. The one in Forrest Gump. Until a friendly local told us it was in some museum somewhere, he didn’t know where. The location used in the film wasn’t even a bus stop, and there was never a bench there either.
  18. Ooo I didn’t know about the auto feature, must look into that. It would certainly save rushed button pushing.
  19. I bought a couple of guitar stands off a guy via Facebook Marketplace. He sent them by Hermes and I groaned a bit. I got a message from Hermes this morning to say it would be delivered between 11 am and 1 pm. It was, by a lovely lady who rang the doorbell and waited for me to open the door. Everything in the box was fine.
  20. Not me, I only eat chocolate Hobnobs and there weren’t any of them in there. Er, so I’m told.
  21. An Eric Clapton gig several years ago, somewhere in London, possibly the Albert Hall. No chat, not even a thank you after a number. Damn good though. Same thing when my wife went to see Chris Rea. Shut your eyes and you could be listening to a juke box.
  22. I shall stick around, you seem to be a friendly bunch, and divide my time between the two. There is also Reddit r/Bass to read in between updates of course.
  23. Yes, it it was a very long time ago though. Quite possibly late 60’s. And it was theatrically and sound wise, outstanding.
  24. A kind of sub thread for “surprisingly outstanding ”. The Indigo Girls. I went to see them at Radio City in New York. Naturally the place was full of young girls, but Christ that band was good. Well worth the air fare and the tickets.
