1.
Getting your individual recordings to sound right in sequence is one of the main points of having the recordings mastered in the first place. What you need to do is get the original un-mastered mixes and supply them your mastering house of choice along with a running order.
Brilliant info, thanks.
2. Mastering to the tracks individually has been done, but I'm concerned there may be a slight difference in volume as three tracks were recorded at Cube studios in Cornwall, the other two at Sawmills. No problems when taking tracks on individual merit, but I'm thinking there may be a difference when listened to in sequence. Would re-mastering then solve this issue if there is one?
3.
For small runs (under 500) you are going to get CDRs and not properly manufactured glass-masterd CDs. This means that they won't have the same lifespan as a real CD. If you are OK with that I suggest that you get in contact with Disc Wizards who I have used in the past and been impressed with the speed and quality of their service.
That's interesting, never knew that. Can you recommend a place for orders above 500? We don't want or need that many CD's, but we'd like them to be half decent.
4. Hi, We have finished 5 songs for an upcoming EP, and now need to convert the finished mixes into a final product. Can basschatters recommend anywhere suitable to upload our WAV's and artwork and receive it all back in CD format? We are looking at an order of around 100. Cost is obviously a factor, but it doesn't need to be cheapest option available. We've gone cheap before and it didn't work out well. We'd prefer proper CD cases opposed to plastic wallets, and the quality of the printing and the paper they use for the inserts must be of decent quality. If they are astute enough to notice/adjust any obvious differences in volume this would be useful too, as the songs were recorded in two studios and mixed by two separate engineers. Thanks in advance, Will
5. So, are you selling the bodies separately again now? Or still only fully loaded? Sorry I'm confused!
6. I can't think of anything more suitable.
7.
I'm not sure of the age of it, but it's a couple of years old, I believe it was a year or two before they stopped the S1 Switching System. So I think Possibly 2007/2008
The serial number will help you out here; Z (2000) + next digit = year of manufacture so Z8 = 2008. Lovely colour. I had a Candy Cola American Series P with the S1 system. Lovely instrument. GLWTS.
8. Ensure the bass is at the same height stood up as sat down. Also, take a look at how the bass balances on your leg when sat down. Do the cutaways change how the bass balances, i.e neck heavy when stood up but fine sat down or vice versa?
9.
The bass was previously owned by a famous bands bass player who used it live and for recording.
Spill the beans! You can't leave us hanging. Lovely bass, I have a real thing for daphne. I do prefer the white guard though. GLWTS.
10. No, but in 2010 I went to a flamenco club in Barcelona, which turned into a night club after 11pm. The house band only had Gary Willis playing bass didn't they! And bloody good they were too.
11. What are the weights for the J bodies? Very light, light, medium or heavy will do as a description.
12.
except they can't do regular finishes... only relics
Really? Why not? Surely it's less work.
13.
Sounds like a good deal to me... There has to be a market for custom coloured P and J designs and a reasonable price.
Limelight
14. I've wondered this, and having had a lovely time with my old Ashdown Little B******, but not quite cutting it for volume, if I could find a valve head that I could gig with for £500ish I'd be all over it.
15.
What are your thoughts on having a bass built for you to your very own requirement? And what would you be prepared to pay? Phil
I'm awaiting a Bravewood P, which will come in around £1500. Like yourself, I love Fenders, but they don't offer what I want, which is a '57 styled bass with a slim profile neck. Bravewood are just down the road from me, and the idea of actually having a bass made, in the true sense of the word rather than put together, really attracted me to them. Seeing John carry off a freshly sprayed Precision body by its unbolted neck made me think how much I would have to pay Fender to get a neck pocket that fits that tight. It's details like that that make me think wooden instruments should be crafted, not engineered. My spec is a lightweight white blonde, with 40mm nut width. And will come with a Bareknuckle '58, like yours
16. Fender flats are great for the money.

18. I've used a TB500 for years, great amps with loads of heft to the sound and as convincing a 'valve' tone as anything I've used previously. I did change the valves to a set of lower-gain Philips ECC81's as this focused the sound more- complaints about the preamp being 'wooly' with the cheap Chinese ECC83's are justified IMO and are easily solved with some classier valves. I did get frustated by the limited EQ section whenever we played a difficult room, but invested in a DHA DI EQ which solves both the hot DI issue (mine is an early model) and the EQ issue in one go. £35 off this very forum. You won't need a 1000. You'll be going FOH before you'll ever reach the limit of the 500.
19. He's obviously typed his serial number in, and it's given him the Japanese E-Series information. Seen a few MIK basses up for silly money recently.
20. Great colour. Butterscotch?

Jaguar GAS

I've had GAS for a Jag for a while. Never tried one though. It needs to be a full-fat Jap fender model though- I need all them switches. 😀
22. This was a pretty cool novelty album from my teenage years. A neat spin on the 'sampler' album. I was particularly fond of Good Riddance's effort, which appeared to be a fully formed song. http://youtu.be/wW6ykueIhX8
23. How is this still here? Tom- sell the neck and use the funds to buy a 41mm slim profile from Musikraft! These basses are the dogs.
24.
This is seriously my favourite record of all time. I want it played at my funeral.
Ha! I've asked my wife to play Gay Bar by Electric 6 at my funeral. I doubt she will. So I'll throw Gay Bar into the mix, and this: http://youtu.be/Xz7_3n7xyDg
