1. That's hideous! Unless you love Tron.
2. Should you even use the words 'cool' and 'acrylic' in the same sentence?
3. Even a pokey pub PA for vocals and a bit of FOH support will take a good 30-45 minutes to set up, plus soundcheck, regardless of the fact it will be utterly useless at an outdoor festival. As others have said, it makes so much more sense to hire a decent PA hire company to come and run this for the whole event. Sorry that's not the most helpful post, but it's the truth!
4. Being an OBT user for the last 5 years or so, I'm desperate to try one of these!
5. This sounds about an email away from asking for your passport number and bank details.
6. ps I'm dreaming of a Bravewood too. Thinking of taking the risk of ordering, seeing as it may take a year, before I have the full funds. He's local to me too.
7. I think the earliest Fender badged JV00*** 'Squier Series' were Nitro, certainly the first of them were. These usually fetch upwards of £1000- there is a Jazz just popped up for sale on here actually.
8. I thought this was a thread about Jurassic World. Shows how cool I am.
9.
Are these JVs nitro or poly on the neck?
Thin poly. Little bit of wire wool and they feel great!
10. The Roadworns are fantastic, and have a real vibe about them. Lightweight, played-in feel, low action, incredibly resonant. Probably a better instrument than my JV squier in terms of feel, although they do feel different. Both cracking basses mind, and both better to play than my old 2005 USA P. The USA was great, but didn't have anywhere near the level of playability.
11. I saw him on later, thought he looked like he hadn't slept for about a month.
12.
so would you say it would give a nice tubey/motown type of drive, the same way the solid gold beta drive does? I quite fancy one of these myself
I have both on my pedal board, and the Beta is a different animal. The Beta is fat, warm, punchy tube drive that sits nicely in the mix. I use it as an always-on pedal. It's quality, and kind of gives that 'tone' you search for, being a P player. The EHX is a great overdrive. The level of grit is just right- it must be the blend control- but you don't lose your place in the mix, as so many pedals seem to do, with the character and tone of the drive being what cuts through. I hate pedals which make you disappear, and you can't hear the drive, or are too top-endy so all you hear is the drive and no fundamental. Highly recommended, and for £60? Crazy.
13. I'm tempted by the DHA. I have the DI EQ he makes, which has given me GAS for the V1. I've been pleasantly surprised with my EHX Bass Soul Food. I was looking for a pedal that kept my sound, but didn't disappear in the mix, and that I could hear the character of the drive in the mix. This does it, in spades. Really cuts through.
14.
Hey, all. The idea of changing the tuners is a bit far for me. I love the bass as it is and I don't fancy altering it, if I have to. Could anyone recommend me a fantastic wide strap at all, please? Heck, I even considered getting backing into bodybuilding so I can use it properly again.
I understand, but the Gotoh GBR640's I fitted to my Precision cured neck dive completely and were an OE fit. Stupidly light compared to the originals. I've no idea if Gotoh do a Resolite MM style tuner, but if you wanted a permanent solution that doesn't involve making the bass heavier, I'd recommend it.
15. This reminds me of a story I heard from my old drummer. A lady had phoned him up before enquiring about lessons for her son. She said 'he doesn't need to learn how to play the drums, he only needs to learn how to play one song- Territorial P*ssings (Nirvana) for a performance'. So he needs to learn to play the drums then, came the drummers reply. I think there is a misconception sometimes that you don't have to be that good, to play one thing well. Many musicians play in one style their whole career. Is Clapton not a great guitarist? ... Actually don't answer that
16. A little bit too masculine for my tastes, that bridge! Plug into an EHX 'Steel Leather' and go ride a bull. In chaps.
17.
Yes it was, and yes, he is. How did you get on? We had a terrific time there, although it was a long day.
It went well I think. I knew we'd have issues with our drummer, which we did, but nothing a click and a gentle suggestion to slow things down a touch didn't resolve. Got a decent rough mix, waiting on Tom to comp vocals and sort levels and we should have ourselves a couple of decent recordings.
18. I cried with laughter at that headstock. It looks like a smurf's sock! And the pickguard has blatantly been made out of an old ice cream tub. Pretty convincing wear though. If it was owned by Wolverine.
19. I saw Ed Sheeran's performance, which I liked. Seemed to get everyone out of their seat.
20. True. Well, Tis a damn shame but I'm no where near London
21.
Find a box and I'm all over it!
22.
A few years ago we did some recording at Sawmills Studios, where Muse recorded a lot of their early stuff. The chap who engineered for us had worked with them, he said they were the best rhythm section he ever had in there.
Was that Tom? We've just recorded a couple of tracks there. He alluded to the same thing when talking about the bands he'd had in there. Nice guy.
23. If the neck wasn't 1.75 I'd be all over this. Dang!
24. Me too! I started with drums, but like the OP was told I wasn't allowed a kit in my house. So gave up once I left secondary school. Recently got given a Tama kit, and yes, it's soooo much fun. Struggling with my fills at the moment though, blending them into the beats isn't always smooth.
