Hi, Picked up a compression pedal that seems to have a really bad earth problem- it's actually unusable because of the buzz it generates. Can anybody recommend a generous BC'er that might be able to have a look?

Just picked one up. Very impressed. I guess much like the intention, this gives a grittier version of your own tone. I was after a pedal that would add some grit while still sounding like me, and wouldn't disappear in a band context, or change where I sit in the mix. I used it at rehearsal the other night with my passive P bass and was really happy- cut through the mix easily, which is what I hoped for, without changing the P bass character or moving it's place in the mix. Could really hear the added grit too, without having to have the effect stupidly loud. Quite dynamic, and feels almost like you are driving an amp harder. I kept the drive and blend at around 1 o clock and this was perfect for me. Capable of more, but if I wanted crazier fuzz or distortion I would probably look at something else. It's definitely better than the youtube vids would suggest- those videos did nothing for me either. But how often have you heard a pedal that sounds great on youtube, but doesn't work once you use it live?
No idea what colour pickguard with Burgundy Mist discreet as you only allow mint green
What is the colour on the right? Is that just a funky photo of lake placid blue? Looks awesome!
having seen 2 of these in the flesh (including the shell pink jazz above which has been bought by a Basschatter) i'm really gassing for one, in fact my perfect spec has already been built it's no 119, a sonic blue 62/3 with a medium relic, anyone on here own it? http://classicandcoo...19sonicblue.htm and for those lusting after the shell pink Jazz, it's better than you could imagine! Matt
THIS!!!! (Although I would spec a different colour undercoat)
Sea Foam Green does not look right on a P. It is the law.
Too true!! It's too dark. Surf green on the other hand, or Daphne Blue for that matter, look great! I am such a fan of those colours, but recently I've started to worry I'll look like i'm in a Blink182 tribute band if I buy one. Hell yeah. Limelight me up!

LOVE those journeyman precision basses!
FWIW, I sold my J 'cos I'm hooked and I want a P. The order is going in when I can decide on the spec...
Merely an observation, i'm interested in ordering myself but would like to try one first. It would be a P with a 40mm nut!

If someone can just send you a jack with the hot (white) and ground (black) wires already soldered on, you could just connect to your pickups with terminal blocks, the method our KiOgon uses. This will allow you to swap p'ups too if you needed. I would send you this, but I used the last of my parts creating my bitsa project which incidentally, used a Precision pickup wired straight to the output jack.

I've taken a minor twist out with a G clamp and wood chocks, using a hairdryer to heat the neck right up several times a day, and a spray bottle to mist water on the neck before heating. Certainly worth a shot, nothing to lose!

Bought some LED Par Cans from Colin, and I have to say he was a thoroughly nice gent throughout, and very patient! The lights were even better than I had assumed, so am very very happy. Thanks again Colin, Will

Drawn a bit of a blank on this one. Am looking for something for the band, to warm up the frontman's guitar and mandolin. I've seen plenty of acoustic preamp pedals from the likes of LR Baggs and Fishman, but all seem to be single channel, which is ok, but we'd need to buy 2, and our singer would get confused! Ideally I'd like something valvey to give both mandolin and the acoustic additional depth and a bit of tubey warmth, and preferably I'd like it rack mounted so that I'm in charge! The singer does get irate and flaps easily, so a pedal will likely mean I'm rushing forward between songs to adjust for him. I've seen the odd bits for recording studios which are big bucks, this will be only for live sound and as always, we have a tight budget. Am I asking too much or does something suitable exist? Thanks!

Thought the drummer was dreadful, Wilco made more sense when he wasn't singing ( I can deal with out of time, out of tune guitars, I grew up on grunge and punk). They needed a strong frontman (why wasn't Daltrey there?) NWR was ok but didn't sound great. All in all like Punk without any message.

Oh yeah Hayseed! I only saw eye of the tiger, and is wasn't great for me! I was expecting a killer banjo solo- the banjo player stepped forward in the hole....and not much came out. What are they like as players? Is it just a novelty thing or can they really shred? Because they didn't from what I saw. But that's pretty much my only experience of them.
p.s. I'm also not quite sure who Joss Stone failed to f**k to deserve the opprobrium she's been getting at the hands of some of my fellow Basschatterers. I don't listen to her output on anything like a regular basis, but at times I heard definite hints of Janis Joplin.
I posted originally that her career seems to have faltered, yet I think she has a naturally great voice. I was really trying to place her against Paloma Faith who is everywhere at the moment, is seen as a soul singer, but isn't even in the same league for me. My opinion of course, but I always heard Paloma's singing as being a fake voice, like someone is doing an impression. Have you heard her talk? She sounds like David Beckham.
I thought the drummer was a bit pants, but hey-ho.
I thought so too. He was a bit off, wasn't he?
-
I'm on my own with Paloma vs Joss then! I hear Joss as a great singer singing in her natural voice. Paloma to me always sounds like she's putting on an impression of a soul singer!
-
I was commenting last night on how talented Joss Stone is, and where has she been lately? She is an amazing singer, and has real soul, but doesn't seem to have done as much as she could have. Next to supposed 'soul singer' Paloma faith last night with her weird fake singing voice she puts on there was no competition. I thought Wilko needed a frontman! Paulo Nutini is very good. Great tone!!

What's the difference, other than the DI output? I'm gassing for Ampeg tones again, and when I posted something similar a few years ago, the VT pedal was highly recommended on here as an alternative to changing my Bass Terror for an Ampeg head. There was also talk of using the pedal in the FX loop for best results. Would the non-DI version have the power to do this? or would the DI version be better suited as a preamp, with the non DI more useful as an effect going straight into the input? I ask, because the DI versions are twice the price second hand, and it's just after Christmas!
How the hell do you get wear on the lower bout underneath the neck?! Let alone enough wear to take it back to wood! Crazy. Truckstop
God only knows. Some had a very thin finish I imagine. Maybe a bizarre slap technique? There are plenty of beat-up looking 60's basses though, they don't all look like Closet Classics.
