That is great, I respect them again and restored my faith, well pleased for you. Enjoy..........
Yes well i think the secret with most "issues" is to speak personally, face to face, or at least on the phone..... As always though, "buyer beware" !
They've done my refund now too I'm glad to say

Glad you reached a compromise your happy with waddo ☝️
Hopefully he won't mess me about delaying sending tho, you know what people are like, I emailed them my details again so he's definitely "got them"
I'm liking the bass as i mentioned, as well as "clang" it'll do some excellent Dub ! 👍

Strip the paint off (it'll only go shiny and drag on your hand) and seal it with Danish or Gun Oil. A light knock back with some very fine wire wool afterwards and it'll be silky smooth. Any dents can be streamed out with a wet cloth and soldering iron prior to sealing.
Yes taking paint off is one option, initially tho I'll get the gluey bits off the edge and just tidy it up, and play it for a while before deciding what to do about the neck.. Essentially it's cosmetic, ...always amazes me how people can manage to ding the backs of necks like they do...

As a MM Sub update, I spoke to him on the phone ( using the cunning trick of a different mobile no! ). and as I thought, a one to one conversation was a lot more productive, we had a fairly friendly chat and he seems a nice enough bloke on the phone at least....the upshot being he reckons he'll refund me £50 ..which as I mentioned earlier was an offer I'd have been happy with in the first place, so a reasonable-ish result.. Pity it all occurred in the first place but, hey ho
I've been liking the bass when noodling about with it, I'll need to do a bit of setting up etc, and will give back of the neck a buff with t-cut which should improve it I'd think.
Hopefully he'll do my refund promptly without having to be continually nagged..!

Get some Servisol spray and have a go at the pots !.. There's youtube tutorials about this if you're not sure.. I have an old Peavey amp that needs exactly this treatment. Opinions wil no doubt differ but this would be my first port of call.

If you really feel that @MoJo should be banned, report it to admin.
Bit harsh though considering who started this thread!
As long as he doesn't claim to "have lots of mojo" I'll let him off..

Salad dressing is a great tasting alternative to fingerboard oil
I wouldn't eat either tbh, especially the latter as guitarists put their fingers in it....

For those with vintage, Fender type instruments that normally need a screwdriver and neck removal to adjust the truss rod, rather than laying out for the Stewmac tool that makes this much easier, get yourself down toversiins o B&Q. @mcnach discovered this cheaper alternative that, with a bit of fettling, works a treat:
I've made simple versions of that kind of thing from a bit of flat metal bar bent over 90° in a vice

Names or genders for inanimate objects. Hate it.
I worked in a shop with a lovely bloke, but he was full of cheesy lines…
”congratulations on your first guitar/bass/trumpet - now you have to name her…”
🤦🏻♂️
Nooooo.... 😱

"Mojo" should be banned, it's the sawn off shotgun of naff guitar selling gobbledygook.. means precisely nothing but implies ( to me) damaged, fkd, or knackered ...

I personally cringe at basses being called she.
I also find it bizarre that a dent by the Jack socket needs to be highlighted with "in no way affects the playability"
Cars being referred to "she" has always really irritated me...

Why not.. ? Maybe he'd rather not bother with other people's cr@p !.. best of luck to him 👍

Just out of casual interest btw I enquired of a fairly pukka sounding guitar re painting firm, as to how much to refinish a bass neck in black "paint"... To strip it first £90... Then to paint it an additional £230... 😱

OK, it's not a disliked phrase so much as a misused word, but we are already including those so here goes..........
Saying "rift" instead of "riff" - e.g. 'I liked the guitar rift in that song.'
(On balance: Actually, I'm pleased when a non musician at least tries to use some musical terms even if they don't quite get it right. So maybe I shouldn't complain. But I am anyway 🙂 )
Not heard that one before, it's a cracker though !

I think my Dad still says it, sadly.
My mum used it in a jokey way without any malice, in fact a gay mate of mine thought it most amusing !

You could start a Paypal dispute but its been 23 hours since you "rejected" it and want the full refund? They ought to be given a reasonable time to process that. I have no idea why they have admitted the advert was misleading - that's a huge own goal for them. Its still a bass, it still makes noise, its still kind of playable.....so its an opinion on its condition of a secondhand instrument, doesn't necessarily fall under the SOGA.
Well he's admitted in email to me that " it was misleading" his own words, ( claiming it an error!)...i don't think there could be any doubt it's "not as described" !
I will give him a bell to tomorrow from a different mobile number, see if he answers that, I'd think it could be sorted one way or another with a one to one chat, rather than email.
As mentioned before I'm not averse to keeping it, in fact I'd prefer to, but think he should offer some recompense.

It's not the 70s, you can't say that anymore!
"Woofters" was a favourite phrase of my old mum... indeed in the 70s..

Currently working with a client who is, at times, a royal PITA. The only thing that makes him bearable is the fact that he thinks it's "subwoofter", not subwoofer.
Ask him if he's a " Woofter"...

How did you get on??
Nothing back in response to my last email to Bass Direct, silence!.. I tried to phone him this afternoon, to discuss in person, rang for a fair time then went to voicemail, he knows my number from when I called before so possibly he thought "nah.." and didn't fancy the conversation !
So as it stands, If i want to keep it, I just do nowt and leave it there ( he's clearly never going to offer any recompense)..... or if I want to return it I'd have to plug away to try and get a response... Or start a PayPal dispute.
Pretty unsatisfactory all round....

A mate whos always mocking my liking for reggae ( only in a messing about way tho !) sent me this .. ! Haven't actually heard this since the 70s
