  1. If its a case of it just being dirty but you're otherwise happy to keep it, you could contact them and have a moan with the idea of getting a bit of cash back as a goodwill gesture ( to go towards some cleaning products blah blah ) In my case the back of the neck was dinged and gouged up a bit so more of an issue than just "dirt" .. but it's your call, I'd certainly not just leave it without contacting them for some resolution in your favour.
  2. I've absolutely always got a bit of reverb on as a default, and will often add a little bit of chorus too. It adds a bit of 3D, colour, and sparkle if you want to call it that. Echo/delay can of course be mixed in with all this (without going too mad!) it's a case of experiment, having a twiddle with some knobs and see what you think really.. I'd add that I will often use guitar fx rather than "bass" specific pedals, a useful one to me is the very old ME50
  3. Good that these are being made again.. I remember the original Shergolds when they came out, I had a try of one at some musical instrument industry show / fair thing at the time. Thought they were a cool idea at the time, though beyond my budget or I'd likely have got one. Same applies now really, I've got a couple of bass Vl types which I'm very happy with, but I would absolutely get a Hooky if they were in the 500 quid kinda price range, unfortunately they're way more than I could spend on another bass
  4. I agree, I had a bass from Bass Direct that wasn't as described condition wise, I should have just lobbed it back, but after challenging them I unwisely accepted a small bit of dosh back instead. I the event I was never happy with it and flogged it subsequently at a loss. If you're unhappy with it let them have it back, there's lots of other instruments out there.
  5. Always take 5 long wigs with you in your leads bag.. You just never know...
  6. Ah, the Nashville at West Ken. I can remember playing there at least once, if not more, those old venues kind of all merge a bit after so long! Certainly by 77 there was a kind of "retro" 50s RnR thing going on. Being of the punk persuasion myself I obviously witnessed and participated, first hand in the various punch up rivalries with the latter day "Teds" who were mainly a bunch of nasty bigoted little scrotes I'm sorry to say, so I'm a bit jaded about the 50s revival of that period to say the least !
  7. I think it's great as it is, provided it all works I'd just leave it exactly like that, and use it.
  8. Actually mid 30s... Some place I worked had a batty old dear who ran a canteen tuck shop type operation, we regarded it as fine sport doing stuff like that, and changing the price list board with the little push on letters, to say daft stuff... Vegeburger became Vegebugger, that kind o' thing..
  9. I tried to spend a world cup coin for sweets once, didn't get away with it unfortunately..
  10. Who's Mickey Rourke? Has he got a funny eye too?
  11. They probably still have them in former soviet union, sell by date 1970, in a big warehouse somewhere..
  12. Woah, jamboree bags.. I haven't thought about those for about 50 years, literally 😁

  14. OK then...."rev100" .... So if I knock the ^20 off, you owe me 80 squid....
  15. To kind of drag it back to Brum, I always thought these were from Birmingham, but turns out they were from Wolverhampton.. Cheapo looking bass old Jim Lea's got there, for a chart topper...
  16. Always thought you'd make a cracking commentator for Match of the Day... 😁
  17. Oh i see, hadn't thought of that.. What does rev6 mean then? As you're acting as interpreter...
