  1. I think that's got to be one of those mis-heard lyrics there Nilo 😂
  2. Punching bass, bad idea, will hurt your hand.. Suggest P. Simonon method.. As regards tone, on the PJ I have everything turned right up, max vol on both, max tone on master. The faux Rick thing always treble pick up only and again max tone. The bass Vl has lots of options so can't really say one only, and I do switch about with it The Gretsch Vl I only really use the neck pickup, but with tone right up max, yet again. Stingray btw I reckon you can't really have the treble boost right up as it'd take the top of your head off! Any other bass shape things are disassembled in bits at the mo HTH 😁
  3. Well the Squier I got was more like £200, I'm not bothered what an instrument is worth tbh, to me it's a thing to play.
  4. So you're Scrooge as well as Marley then 😁
  5. Luckily it's a long long way to Latvia, even further that Tipperary...
  6. Just my 2p worth.. I've got a low spec maple neck Squier PJ of the type currently available, it's excellent. If I had to choose between it and some of the old pukka fenders I've had through my hands in the past I'd keep the Squier. Other than tuning it up I could have happily done a gig with it straight out of the box.
  7. Actually "Wake me up before you go go" I've always thought annoying, luckily I've never been called upon to play it. I'm not a Wham hater as such tho.. as an incidental, a friend had some dealings with G. Michael long ago and aparrently he was a really nice chap and a top bloke by all accounts. Spookily someone's blaring Careless Whisper on their car stereo right outside just as I posted this
  8. I liked ol' Ranking Roger, he was great fun, a geezer...
  9. My bass Vl would sound good through that, with the pukka Fender reverb an' all.. 😁
  10. It's Toyah's idea actually, not mine, but she makes a valid point😁
  11. Mac Arthur's Park.. Any song with "recipe" in the lyrics....... just no
  12. All they care about is electric sheep.. in their dreams of course
  13. I'd agree, with the proviso that they work properly, other than that who cares
  14. It's very tempting that kind of thing, like picking a scab 😁
  15. Arguable, I'd think anything 80s or earlier, but??
  16. I wondered as it was so brittle and didn't think nitro would go like that, seemed quite a thick layer too. There wasn't another colour underneath, ie it wasn't one of the custom colour blown over sunburst type jobs. Not sure the actual year of the bass but it had one of the skinny logo decals that was just applied over the headstock finish, and consequently was fairly scratched up.
  17. To return to vintage fenders again, I do have a question, back in the 80s I owned, briefly, a 60s P bass that looked to be all original, it was in a reddish salmon pink, though very faded, the paint was very cracked, brittle and flaking off, you could pick bits off if you wanted to. What kind of paint would they be using say mid 60s?
  18. Ditto, just answered Nilo out of courtesy 😁
  19. Me, what they'd call "Jack of all trades" the thing I'm technically most "qualified" for is welding, but I've done so much stuff it'd be a long list, all generally "on the tools" type things..
  20. Interesting, Presumably your ancestors made pots at some point. Didn't think people played board games much these days, drones however are a good seller I'd think..
