NBD Squier P Bass Content - Live report update.
Waddo Soqable replied to ezbass's topic in Bass Guitars
That looks cracking now, very classy & much improved π -
One band I was in had a drummer that was a proper pain and often "couldn't make it", our solution was my girlfriend of the time became a drum machine operator, so when old silly bollocks wasn't available we did it the other way, which worked fine, in fact it worked better without him! There's often a think outside the box option. Obviously if you're into a very traditional "rock band" type line up then having a drummer is a big thing, but there's a lot of folk out there in the world doing great stuff without one.

You must've been unlucky, no doubt they're a bit of a lottery, but the one I have was fine, I could've simply tuned it up and gigged it straight out of the box -

This piqued my interest, so I just measured my Squier cheapo PJ (the type that's being sold currently btw) it certainly doesn't give the impression of a chunky or baseball bat neck.. Now, depending on where you're taking measurements from.. the actual with of the plastic nut itself is 39.82.. The wood of the neck at this point is 40.93 -
Sounds as if it'd be just like in the old days, where you turn up in make up etc, and the local "geezers" look aghast with all the... "Woah.. what the Fk are you then?" type malarkey π

Tbh if I'd got one I'd likely get the ebay bloke everyone uses to make me one, it'd be spot on then if you send him a template traced from the one on the bass... -

Pretty much exactly the same here, been looking at the other thread on these too, like Ez I'd also have to change the Pickguard if I got one as I really don't like the goldy metal one. If I didn't have another newish Squier P bass I'd not be able to resist though! -
That looks brilliant, I'd use it just as it is π

It's a good pedal certainly, though I always stack it with something else, particularly as mentioned, the Memory Man which also has its own chorus element in there too.
-
Why the confused fizzog? I answered your question as to what's your story with chorus pedals.
-
Depends what you want from it I guess, there's one called "Past FX New Division" that's supposed to be a superior version of the old EH Clone Theory, though you can get EH's modern version of the C. T. I've heard some say the EH modern versions not great. ( genuine vintage ones are expensive and can die on you) Plus these above are likely rather Peter Hook ish though I'd think. There's loads of chorus pedals out there mostly aimed at guitar, though I wouldn't let that put me off, speaking of which, i've got a TC Electronic SCF gold which is quite good but fairly subtle, and an old Boss Me 50 (not the bass version) that's got quite decent chorus options, presumably lifted directly from the old Boss chorus range. I'm using this stuff mainly with Bass VI type instruments and combined with one (or sometimes two) EH Memory man pedals though, so probably fairly different from what you'd be doing your good self. Chorus is great imho, though as I'm from the 80s I would say that.!

Or if you wanted to be a bit more hip you could say you'd been "Friscoed" π

Still got both ears too

Hmm 1985, I was likely listening to Cocteau Twins (and other 4AD type bands).. Longpig ( ie "of love & addiction".. not the other similarly named band) That kind of thing. I was personally being a bit of a painter (as in oil paintings) at that point too.

Just got some leads from Paul... Excellent stuff, and a top guy to deal with, many thanks π

Bought a faulty instrument from Cash Converters
Waddo Soqable replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion
At least you got the dosh back! Didn't know POs were still a thing. I assume crack converters hope someone will just buy it and live with it as it stands, or maybe not even notice the faults -
That's a cracker π

Certainly not in the condition he's likely to be in now

You like the bass playerβ¦.. but not so much his/her band.

You've been posing in the mirror again haven't you..... -
Free to anyone that might find a use for 'em 2 brand new 9v centre negative fx pedal type power supply plugs. These when I tried them with a few different pedals were a bit noisy, they might even work fine for something you have, or even be useful to run the lighting on a model railway layout or whatever! I didn't want to just bin them if they could be of use to someone else.
