  1. SHAD's not nearly as good as SHAG tho....
  2. I think it was just as much influenced by the story of Dennis Brain the French horn player, who used to read magazines and the like while waiting for the horns to come in, during rehearsals with the LSO or whoever, he had a bit of a row with the conductor, Sir Adrian Boult or someone, who got the hump feeling he wasn't giving the rehearsal it's due respect and attention. Mr Brain retorted that provided he came in at the appropriate time and played the 1st horn part adequately, who cares, and carried on reading๐Ÿ˜
  3. I've developed a problem playing sitting down which I think I mentioned elsewhere... As soon as I set stuff up and get going, the cat (who's a pretty large cat as they go) jumps up and sits himself down on my lap in front of the bass, acting as a kind of furry string mute, he also wants to be continually fussed etc so won't just settle and let me get on with it. He'll also 'dab' at my hand when I'm attempting to play. I'll have to try a high stool thing from the kitchen in the hope it won't look so appealing..
  4. When the Saints go Marchin in, Louis Armstrong / Traditional
  5. It may surprise you to know, I'm not really a Dentist .. ๐Ÿ˜
  6. I'm forever going to call it SHAG now... ๐Ÿ‘
  7. I have a feeling I nicked the basic idea from someone/ somewhere but so long ago I can't remember. The Dandy or Beano us a good alternative too btw ๐Ÿ˜
  8. Blimey, what sound does your elbow make? ๐Ÿ˜ณ
  9. Jimmy Somerville.. He always reminded me of the Baroque male soprano and counter-tenors, I bet he'd be good at that kind of repertoire. Not heard of him for ages...
  10. Of course.. I'm a Dentist...
  11. Protex Blue! The Clash
  12. Meth Mouth, The Archibalds
  13. Who dear, me dear, no dear, how very dare you.... ๐Ÿ˜
  14. Agreed, I certainly won't be punting anyone's flag. Greens can be stunning in some contexts, this thing looks ghastly tho
  15. I sometimes did a little schtick with reading a DC comic or similar if I had nothing to do for a bit...
  16. But what do you think of the bass? ๐Ÿคฎ
  17. I was in a band that had a stripper once.... Just a thought ๐Ÿ‘
  18. I always thought it a bit odd that the bass was silent till the chorus, he looks a bit of a plum standing there doing nothing as well..
  19. Jesus Built my Hotrod, Ministry
  20. Nah.. I don't think borrowing or renting is part of the parameters ( ok I know I suggested nicking one, only kidding officer๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ..) You've got to buy a new bass...
  21. Knowing Me Knowing You, Abaaah
  22. I played for about half an hour "side slinging" after I posted it, I found it really comfortable.. kind of resting flat against the hip, in fact I'm going to start using it for a change when playing standing. You can see what you're doing very easily too if you want to look at the markers.
  23. According to what I read, if they assigned roles in the Monkees on musical ability among the four, it'd be Tork.. Guitar, Nesmith.. Bass, Jones... Drums, Dolenz.. Lead singer It seems Tork and Nesmith were both fairly competent players previously, I guess the criticism comes from the fact they were auditioned & assembled for the series, rather than came into being like a "real" band. You can't argue with their success at the end of the day๐Ÿ˜
  24. I think the man's simply wanting bass slinging suggestions, rather than diet/recipes ๐Ÿ˜
