  1. That's just from 40 years smoking roll ups tho
  2. We'd perhaps better not persue the "bear" too much further, but leave old nilo to his fate..
  3. I've done gigs with bits of paper with chords scribbled down and stuck to the floor or whatever.. 😁
  4. I thought you might have meant that 80s song, whatever it was, where it goes... "... Its going to be, a Lovely Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa......... y etc, ad infinitum ( which obviously wasn't real singing)
  5. Wasn't there a band called the Carpettes...
  6. The only times I've played both bass and sax at the same gig was a couple of times where everyone switched instruments and we made up a kind of mad "support" band for ourselves, so I did one set on sax (with one of the others playing bass) then the main one with me on bass.. Other than that maybe a Prog type outfit might, with instrument role swapping type stuff going on. I certainly got the impression the OP was talking more sax than "doubling"
  7. I'd forgotten about TT, it's a cracker, we did a kind of industrial-y version years ago, can't imagine why anyone would try and play it with fingers rather than a pick tho !
  8. Anyway all the shops will be shut now so all that remains is to plug your cheapo bass and do the soundcheck.. Bzzzzzz zzzzz..
  9. I don't suppose you had the “P P Pickup a Penguin.. " ads in the Soviet union did you ? 😁
  10. I'm working on the "you have to buy a new bass".. Obviously if you add used into the equation then more variables come into play. Tho I'd still say a Squier P bass stands
  11. I've always preferred maple, but I suspect that's probably because I prefer the look of it.. Doubtless I'm a knuckle dragging oaf but I'm very sure I couldn't identify and name, on an electric bass guitar, from the sound, a maple fb from any other wood.
  12. You'll have to keep score for me, I'm prob at least 500 points evil by now I expect..
  13. Got a black /black /maple one of these, I'd also gig it anywhere no worries.. 👍
  14. Scooter.. Good plan, I like your thinking.. no shop assistant in the world's going to catch up with you.. Plus you can nip down a pedestrian underpass or something if the old bill come after you in a motor.. 👍
  15. If you're waltzing into a shop with a shooter, you may as well have all their cash and a couple of expensive basses... Tho tbh you may find a jeweller's down the road a better "blag"...
  16. My days of playing sax in bands was going back to the late 70s, and no doubt things have moved on, but wouldn't think you'd need a dedicated amp set up? I tried at the time one of those barcus berry "bug" things attached to the reed, and wired into the PA, in the end I didn't much like it, it was very shrill & clattery sounding, so I went back to just playing into a mic thru the PA which was good enough and what most people did.. (despite sax being a bit rare in bands at that time😁)
