  1. Wtf does "potentially" fretless mean? High start price if it's buggered in some way. I had a single PU version of this, and later one of the nat. maple finish ones with the cream coloured P bass PU. I liked them and they were quite a good bass tho I swapped the first one for a Stingray.. which was better!
  2. Hmm.🤔 so pretty much total bullshlt then
  3. I tune them all a semitone flat as my "standard" tuning
  4. Out of interest, do dolphins come and poke you with their snouts and the like, or give you a wide berth?
  5. I've often seen it punted (inc by "pro"guitar workshops) that if you're re-finishing you can spray nitro over poly if you scuff it to key the surface, I suspect largely coz getting poly off is so difficult. .. it supposedly sticks ok but tbh I never fancied the idea, and if I was dead set on nitro on a neck or something I'd want it straight on the wood
  6. Bloke down Chip Shop Elvis etc.. K. McColl
  7. I wonder what's the best capo for metal....?
  8. I'd imagine it's just a way to boast of a "nitro" finish... whilst still using what they're already geared up for.. cheap and easy, tried and tested poly to do the main coating, and then a light cosmetic topping of nitro so they can say so. That's my cynical view...
  9. The odd things I saw on TB they seem to be debating strings a fair bit, if I did one of these I'd use a tailpiece, which would use up a bit of extra length of string as supplied. I'd keep the existing git. scale length tho and bridge at the same point it is now, as I'd want to use the existing fret layout, I don't want a fret less and I'm not going to be creating a new fretboard from scratch! I found pics of this semi acoustic that someone switched from Guitar to bass which uses a tapiece and floating hofner type bridge, which aparrently works well. plus another epiphone LP done likewise
  10. Definately.. In my case it was late 70s early 80s.. you could get a second hand Rick or Fender P for about 200 quid and loose change, whilst it was a fair bit of dosh it was do-able.. I got my first Stingray as a swap for a Kramer Ali neck thing as I recall.
  11. I tried out one of these, but in blue, would've in 81 presumably when they came out , it was in Soho Sound house, they were a bit under 500 quid new as I recall. It was a smashing bass in every respect and I would have had it like a shot, unfortunately I was just "kicking the tyres" and had nowhere near enough dosh to actually buy it. Good to see one again, whoever end up with it will be a lucky lad 👍
  12. Bloody lucky to get that back..

  14. I've also found them useful, particularly further up the neck, for getting new ideas for stuff, say in tonalities you might not otherwise go, or lines you wouldn't have thought of
  15. I use capos and have done for ever.. Frowned upon ? Probably.. but who cares if it works for what you're doing.
